Something to add on the lying beads, it helps to read the grids on the left and right and try to make an assumption that maybe the break is to the right even though the beads show left because the grid on the right is faster and the grid to the left is flat if that makes any sense.
I see your Tron T-shirt and I'll raise you mine in my next video Respawn haha. Loving your video style though dude, another banger. We need this putting update quick, it's a mess right now. Interesting youre using the same "smashing the putt" 5 to 10 feet when it's relatively straight as I do. You should see how much I blast it though, I aim right at it and add on 2 to 3 grids on my marker and bang it. It's like putting a marble into a bucket this game lol....Now that's "Blast Off" haha.
I also found if you are confident in 3-5 foot putts you can get real aggressive and say if it's 15ft up 3in that you aim to 22 ft it takes out significant break
This helped me massively! The most well explained putting tutorial I've seen so far, even if you did almost forget to mention the grid squares are 2x2 😂
Does anyone know of a way of putting w/o beads or grid….meaning read a bare green? Anything without huge breaks looks flat to me (withno grid )and i want to make the game somewhat challenging .. right now im winning by more than double the strokes of 2nd place has ,at least (with grid on and no beads)…..im starting to think i have to stay on hard settings (swing and putt)and use the grid and beads (its the only time id win with less than double 2nd place ) but its still easy enough and the fairway /tee shot slight miss swings that turn into an OB ballis fricken annoying lol..still win by far too …wishing i could figure out no grid putting on normal swing and putt setting
Came here for help putting in sim. Much appreciated. Hoping it helps! Have a sub 👍🏼 Edit: it's kinda helped, but I cannot read the grid at all. Lines are all white or blue. No idea what they mean and can't always tell the direction it breaks
Great video! Subscribed for more content! Would it be possible for you to make another video going over estimating elevation in SIM mode? When going to a course for the first time I have no idea how to judge elevation gain/loss which makes it really hard setting up my first shot. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
That only really comes with course knowledge, unfortunately. However, they do color code the elevation, and I believe it is 15 feet and under is white arrow, 15 to 30 feet is yellow arrow, and 30 feet and above is red arrow. From there, there is a slight guessing game without the course knowledge.
Games I’ve played in the past, the break in the green did not influence the ball as much near the club (when the ball is moving faster) as it did near the hole (when the ball is moving slower) That’s not the case here is it? Doesn’t seem to be?
So I've just tested this a little bit and for me this method is (unfortunately) inaccurate. I don't know whether to blame this on the inconsistent grid speeds (the putt wasn't a consistent break) or whether the putting in this game just sucks overall, but I've had very similar 7 and 8 footers with a simular "above" or "below" the feet and one missed high and one missed low (those were relatively consistent so therefore I knew exactly how far to aim out). Which means there's either another factor we're not seeing or it's simply ... un-doable to putt right now. I simply can't make a putt. If I'm further than 6ft. out I'll not make the putt unless it's dead straight. For me, personally, I feel like if you're about 7ft. out you play about 1 and a half ball out to the left or right per 1' "above" or "below". However if you get to the 10 foot mark, I feel like it plays pretty much 1 to 1, maybe 1ft. for 1' of "above" or "below" is a little bit too much, because I feel overall my putts miss high. So maybe it's closer to 1ft. per 1.2'. I'll test it further but it might be futile, because I think I have to mainly blame this on the weird dots and greens not reading like they should. Also, I don't know if you or anyone else has noticed, but when you use the broadcast putting camera it'll briefly show the "actual" grids of your putt -after- you've hit. I've literally stood there 2,5 ft. past the hole because I missed a putt with that first putt having lines go from left to right, and then I look at it from the other side and the lines go left to right again, which means the "original" putt read would've been right to left instead of left to right. I don't know, I don't think I can get my head around it.
If you really want a challenge when it comes to putting, disable the power bar below the avatar. Then the weight is all feel. I think it is much more realistic then knowing exactly what the weight is.
My putting is fine the reason is coz I'm so poor on approach shots must my putts end up 10 ft to 30ft away.so I've had to learn how to putt for birdie miles away
I’m so confused on what the putt tracker does? Can anyone explain to me what it’s saying. I know in the old games you can active to see where your putt is going but apparently that’s not the case in this game.
The wind in this game completely throws me off if its over like 12mph. I drop shots all the time whereas I was pretty good in 2K in the wind. Thats been my biggest drawback. So far I am putting well
So you say if the green is uphill 2 feet you hit the ball 24 inches past the hole. My puts come up way short when this is the case. I think after a foot you need to increase maybe 1.5 feet for every foot past the hole it goes. Because even if I'm 90% of the time going .3% over the line on backswing and perfect follow thru. It comes up way short. And by way short, I'm talking 3-4 feet. Can you see if that is the case on your end? Oh and I just started playing SIM, and all I can say is WOW! yes it is hard and takes more time figuring out where I need to hit or put but it's so much more fun. My buddy I played with last night did nothing but cry. He complained about everything and I said "bro, there is plenty of info on the caddy book to figure it out." 😂 ok, Respawn! Take it easy and thanks as always for the tips! ✌🏼
@@MoreRespawn Yeah, so I switched to Sim for career mode - and promptly shot a 61 at Scottsdale! Granted the weather was nice and the pins placed kindly (friday pins) - but holed so many putts in the 8-15 ft range using your rule of thumb as the basis. Oh and I watched the video of Sloaner shooting his -13 at Augusta (it's on UA-cam somewhere), I'd recommend it to anyone.

Or the backswing lags and doesn't register in the 18th causing u to shank? When I make a mistake in 2k. It's my fault. Half the time in EA I feel it's games fault.
I would like a better overall grid. The colors don't clash enough to warrant any distinguishment between slopes. And the same color is drawn with 10 different slopes. It's a little bit of a mess.
Coaching Academy On the Green Challenge 5 & 6 seem all but impossible. I've tried hundreds of times and I'm of the opinion those green are broken and its an impossible challenge.
Personally I don't use mathematics with putts. I have a photographic memory, so having played so many golf games and greens to read, I can get it dialled almost everytime.
I don't think the putting is terrible BUT it is too easy not to three putt (or worse). There's no sense of danger on the greens. The green speed doesn't seem to matter at all. On a fast green it should be possible to race the ball past the hole with a misjudged putt (as in 2K) but it never happens. I know EA plan to have a no putting meter option and I hope they do further tweaks to the putting.
Rules of putting: The putting is garbage in this game, the lines are inconsistent and the putts randomly do the opposite of what the lines show. And in your explanation, the second part of your 15-feet breakdown doesn't make sense. You keep saying "it picks up speed, so instead of 0.3 foot I'll move it over a foot". You have to explain how you get to a foot. You probably compare the first third of the putt, the speed of the lines, to the second third of the putt and because those lines go triple as fast you triple that 0.3 into close to a foot, but you need to explain that in your video. It's a little bit too loose. Maybe you need to explain how much an inch is, how big the cup is and how you get to 6 inches or 9 inches. And then for shorter putts, how do you get to putting it out just a ball outside the cup based on 7ft.? It's just a bit random to me. Why not put it out almost a foot like you explained earlier on the 15 foot putt? To be fair I think it would be fairly easy to divise a formula based on the angle of the putt at the start multiplied by the distance to the hole, and adding/subtracting based on elevation change.
Literally watch the video. I try to be as clear and concise as I can while not making the video 2 hours long. If there is a "formula" I haven't found it yet as I have tried many different things. The best I have been able to do is find something that gets you close to the hole or in. With the grids not working properly right now, it makes it even harder, which is why this video is lots of generalizations. But I would rather have people have somewhat of an idea instead of no idea whatsoever and quit the game because of it. Also, if you were able to extrapolate how I arrived at an outcome, I'm not sure spelling that all out would help or take away as rambling. But I'll put it down on my notes on potential things to change in the future.
@@MoreRespawn The issue is that not every golf game works in like a linear way. I've played WGT golf and the mathematics on that game get pretty extensive. The hole has a different "size" so to speak depending on the distance. I feel like you're just doing it by feel and yes that will get you close, but explaining the measurements as in "this is 3 inches, this is 6 inches" would help. I think in a video like this it'd have been about 40 seconds to explain. I get your intention, but I do feel like some people would want a little more in-depth. Maybe best to wait until the grids are fixed and "perhaps" adding it in then? A golf cup is just over 4 inches in size, which means that if you move over by half-cups, it would be just over 2 inches, meaning 6 half-cups or just below 3 full cups would mean a foot. I'll mess around a bit and see what I find with the putting.
Yeah, I think first step before I dive back into this is for the grids to get fixed. It is hard to get anything extensive when the grids sometimes break the opposite direction the actual green is breaking.
