Thank you so much for this upload, you're a hero.
Sharing Smashing Pumpkins concert favorites, enjoy.the best songs of show the classics perfect tonight tonight bullet with butterfly wings and you favorit of songs!
my god this is glorius! That version of To Sheila was mind blowing
genuinely my favourite performance of all time
They went 45 minutes without playing a song not off Adore. They only played 3 songs from Mellon Collie, zero from Siamese, zero from Gish. This was a complete break from the past and took a lot of balls. It was a big fork in the road for Corgan - the poor reception to this period seemed to trigger abour 15 years of different course corrections...
You got to admire sticking to your vision.. I am of the minority that think Adore is their best, most passionate and heartfelt album.
All the members in your best form, every show from this era was epic. A lot of experimentalism, percussion...
No one can beat this phase.
I have nothing against the bands musical vision... but as a drummer, and from a drumming perspective, I don't like this period of the Pumpkins because of Kenny Aronoff. His style of drumming was to lose for the pumpkins. Matt Walker was such a phenomenal replacement for Jimmy it's unfortunate he left the band after the recording of Ava Adore.
@@eldiablo3794 why did he leave?
I was at one of the '98 adore gigs, after about half an hour I started to hate it and that feeling intensified when they butchered the old songs. Balls yes, but also a total megalomaniac approach to your audience and a deep misunderstanding of what your job is. For a while it made sense to throw out the old setlists on each new tour. But not after MCIS.
Darcy sounds great here.
That transition into "Shame" is incredible.
Thank you for the video! Great quality and amazing show.
D'ARCY - LORD HAVE MERCY. i simply cannot see the pumpkins without her. 100% tragedy that they couldn't figure out how to make their recent comeback happen with her. what a complete shame.
1:08:55 this has become a favorite song recently.
I was in high school during this tour, and I understand the logistics of not being able to take so many musicians and the set up on a larger tour but it's sad it was not anywhere near me at all, I couldn't make a 7 hour trip without a license :'( it sounds so glorious, just unlike anything anyone was doing at the time.
darcy is best bassline of SP
I Miss You Darcy....Sound Is Dead of Bassline!
Tear version here is amazing!
She had the potential to be one if not the most iconic female bass player of rock history, too bad she vanished suddenly, nobody seems to remember her nowadays. Well, I do and she will always have a special spot in my heart.
Interesting to see Billy playing a 7 string during bullet with butterfly wings
Oh my God his singing is so freaking great . Why did he sing ( almost geddy (!) ,) always so high and aenemic standard Alt - rock voice late 90s .
I know it put SO many neutrals off including me .
But I was alteady 33 . Imagine getting into this at , say , 13 or 14 tbose first sacred years of discovering who transformative and wonderful about discoverimg new music and you find you just love them and whatever THis is !
I mean its alrady become some life and death shit , like . 😊😂😂😊!!!!
D'arcy è eccezionale ❤❤
Pumpkins were never the same after they fired Jimmy Chamberlin. They were still very good during this era, but without Jimmy it's just not the same.
I absolutely loved the Siamese/MCIS/Pisces Iscariot/Adore phase. I agree that no Jimmy really felt empty, but honestly this wasn't too bad. I did however feel that the piano made it feel like "An evening with The Smashing Pumpkins", but meh. Take it for what you will. The version of Thru the Eyes of Ruby is fucking fantastic.
i prefer these rock versions so much more than the electronica style of the album..
thank God it was a short lived phase.
I know right? My only gripe with this show is that I really don't like this version of Bullet With Butterfly Wings. The songs from Adore all sound way cooler in this live format.
Jimmy is hands down the best drummer of the 90s rock movement. Despite that, I like what they did in this era musically. The noises / keyboards elevate the music a lot. They had a clear artistic vision it seams, and Billy's voice was spot on. But I'm only 26 so I can only evaluate their eras retrospectively.
Can you imagine if these were the studio tracks?!!!
He was a pretty solid drummer, of course, but something about Kenny Aronoff has just always bugged me.
