- A weekend camping out for one night in Warburton.
Toyota 80 series Landcruiser with lift tyres and F&R bars.
The Forester has the following mods:
- BFG Ko2 Tyres (215 65 r16) on Subaru BRZ wheels
- Process West intake
- Process West top mount
- Larger fuel pump
- Turbo back exhaust
- vf52 turbo (factory fitted to this particular spec Forester)
- Dyno tuned to suit listed mods
- No X-mode
Never seen a forester this aggressive and exciting
Now THIS is how you properly unleash the potential of a Forester.

@@MontyScott lol. I have my own project going. I have a Venetian red 2014 crosstrek that I've modified. So far I have a 1.5 inch lift, racing wheels, roof rack. It's coming along.

Yeah I always enjoy hearing the turbo spool up 👌🏼 my grill is actually factory like that on the S-edition. But any Subaru is a good one 👊🏼

Hi Monty, your set up is mad rad!! Did you get a perfect fitment on the BFG Ko2 Tyres (215 65 r16) on Subaru BRZ wheels without any rubbing? Or did you do some further mods to get it to fit perfectly on your Forester?
I'm planning on fitting my Forester XT S3 MY12 with BFG Ko2's onto BRZ wheels like what you’ve done here to do a bit of off roading on the weekends.
Might do a 2inch subieliftoz lift in the future as well with the biger BFG Ko2 (225/70r16) your currently running on.

Hey mate, thanks for the compliment! You can fit the 215/65r16 tyres without modifying anything. If you go the 225/70r16 you may need to reshape the guard liners slightly. Cheers

Thanks mate I appreciate it! Yeah you should be able to get a very similar sound but my set-up is made up from two manufactures off the shelf parts combined together... I have an Invidia dump matched up with an Australian made HiTech Mufflers cat back so its quiet unique!
I used to have a manual SH XT before this one, but this being the S-edition is only available in a 5EAT with paddle shift.

This question is which one should I buy as a second car for touring/ offroading? 2010 Forester or 2005 Prado or 2002 Landcruiser? (all petrol due to price).
That's a hard question to answer, I love my Forester but it depends on what you will be mostly doing with your rig. If its your second car and its going to be mostly offroad use I would say Landcruiser over Prado and Prado over Forester... but I am very impressed with what the forester can do and think its an amazing all rounder and is my first choice as a all in one type of vehicle as its better in other areas like daily and spirited driving than the other two (imho). Hey mate mod list is in the video description but back then I just had the wheels and tyres with no lift and on that particular setup I didn't get any rub 👍🏻

Thanks mate, no roof rack installed but I do I have Thule cross bars. I took the rails off the bottom of the tent that it came with and bolted some Thule cross bars directly to the tent and they have quick release feet on them so it's easy to take the whole lot on and off the car 👍🏼

how much weight to factory bars can hold?
Hey mate, on my SH Forester I think it's rated for 68kg while driving so when you're parked up you can load it up probably with 3-4 times that weight without it being a problem... Just don't go driving around with that much weight up there 😂
Basically a rally car with a suv body 😂

Most 4x4 convoys only aim for double black tracks with max damage...
Watching yours from the air mattress in the back of mine while camping lol. Wish I could have found an XT, settled for the NA 😒 still put nameless axelbacks on it though. Love your setup it's fantastic

Hi I own a Subaru Forrester 2011 model. I was thinking og installing a roof top tent in it but i was told that the roof rack wouldn't hold because can oly hold 68 kg weight. Did you had any issues with your roof top tent?
Hi there, I have no problems with mine mounted on the car. The 68 kg is a rating that takes in to account all the added stress related to driving while loaded. So when the car is parked and the load is static the rating can be multiplied 3-4 times so I have been told by a roof rack company.

Haha sometimes I see notifications at the right time and get on to them straight away and sometimes I completely miss them! Congratulations, that's exciting. I wouldn't call them bulletproof but if you change the oil regularly and keep an eye on it to make sure it's always at the correct level the engines should go for a long time! I've had 9 different Subaru's and have a pretty good track record with reliability 👍🏼

Where abouts in Warburton is this?
I couldn't tell you specific tracks because this was a fair while ago but if you head out of Warburton heading east we took some track off the main road just after you cross the Yarra. There is a huge network of tracks out there 👍🏼
Is the Subaru a Cvt?
This one is a 5eat, the next generation xt (2013 onwards) are cvt 👍🏼

gas millage on highway with tent?
Hey mate, I get around 12-13 litres per 100km or around 18-20 mpg. Lift, A/T tyres and tent all add extra drag plus I have a few bolt on mods with a pro tune and I have a bit of a heavy right foot so that consumption goes up around town!

Hey mate, in this video I didn't have a lift kit installed I just had a set of A/T tyres on Toyota GT 86 wheels. In my newer videos I have a 2 inch subieliftoz kit fitted and you can see the difference along with bigger tyres 👌🏼 cheers

@@MontyScott beating the heck out of it is a funny way to show love . I guess I feel very lucky to just have a nice Subaru . Mine has to last . I am not a good vehicle mechanic , I am on a fixed income and I can't afford high cost repairs . It's fun to watch people who can afford to do this put the vehicle through it's paces . I would never know the capabilities of these cars if someone didn't show it , so it works for me ...

@@MontyScott I respectfully disagree. Although good maintenance is important, you still don't want to abuse a car. Changing the oil regularily [etc.] is important, but over-revving, peeling rubber, slamming on the brakes and other things are not ameliorated by good maintenance.
That's ok, I was only having a bit of fun. You're right, although I'm not sure if I'd classify it as abuse. I do however enjoy driving with a bit of enthusiasm and if that means my car doesn't last as long I'm happy to pay that price. I see all the mechanical components of a car as a consumable, no car will last forever and depending on how you use it then you may need to replace items more frequently and that is also what I would consider maintenance 👍🏻
