- How Good Was Hideo Nomo Actually?
Hideo Nomo is a former Japanese baseball pitcher. Nomo played for Kintetsu Buffaloes in the NPB and pitched for 8 different teams in the MLB including the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox. Nomo was so good because he was a superstar in Japan, had a breathtaking rookie season, and was a strikeout machine. He revitalized the sport after the 1995 labor strike, pitched two no-hitters, and was a capable hitter. Nomo ended his career with several accomplishments and left a legacy for future Japanese baseball players.

He reached 400 strikeouts faster than Ohtani
He was my favorite pitcher to watch when i was young
I remember sitting by a guy at Comerica Park during Nomo’s time in Detroit. This guy was complaining that Nomo was only throwing 75-80mph. He obviously never saw Nomo throw a splitter before.
Nomo had a great career. Not hall of fame by any means, but 2 no hitters, 2 strikeout titles, each feat in both leagues, and a rookie of the year, including the first no hitter at Coors. Most of all, he opened the door to Japanese players. He definitely qualifies as a legend.
Vin Scully = Legend
Nice to see him on here
Great video. Amazing that he topped Koufax #'s. 4:23.
HIs delivery looked so amazing..
He could've been a Hall of Famer. I think that radio show prank that was played in Miami ruined his career.
4:23 Sandy got several shades darker FAST!
yeah, it was weird lol
Nomo is the Jackie Robinsion for Asians!
Great call
Masanori Murakami
The video of Nolan Ryan I'm pretty sure it Mookie Wilson lol
that was a really funny picture of Mookie Wilson as Nolan Ryan...
Nolan Ryan never won the Cy Young, but he has to be the greatest pitcher of all-time, for his longevity, strength, and strikeouts. a living legend.
Koufax and Martinez are mixed up!!! Otherwise great video😂
You've got the Koufax and Martinez backwards in relation to the photos. 🙄
He was great until batters picked up on his wind-up
Pusha T and whale 😂
Nolan Ryan es la única máquina de strikeout
Pusha T and Whale? It's WA-LAY lol
Growing up in Korea, I loved npb players. Meanwhile chan ho park giving up two grand slams same inning tatis 😂
When I was young, Chan Ho came in to a store I worked at. My coworker asked Chan Ho about that game, and Chan laughed "usually people don't bring that up first" but he had a good laugh about it.
Put some respect on chan ho’s name. He has the most wins of any asian pitcher in the mlb!!!
The only player in MLB to attempt a flying kick in a game.
I remember being PEEVED at the Cubs for getting Nomo in their minor league system and then trading him. As a fan, it made ZERO sense at the time.
The Japanese pronunciation in this video was just horrid, dude even pronounced J like a spanish H sound
Is there only one haircut option in Japan?
