I've been to many speaker facilities over the years, the percentage amount ratio of recones incoming is pretty consistent with total volume going out. I've seen some of the best subs on earth by many famous brands destroyed by guys who thought the gain knob was "additional volume" sure doesn't work that way. I didn't film too much of the new finished goods in the warehouse area, but the stock was immense. The amount of recones wasn't bad compared to the amount of sheer volume they are sending out.
That seems to be a substantial pile of failed subs, he's obviously going to blame the failures on customers like burnt coils vs defective products yes it's easy to burn a coil up with clipping I know I've done it, but maybe it's a hint to stop using 4 layer 3" coils on the big boy subs seems typically if cooling is sufficient beefier coils will take bit more abuse. My advice to reconing your sub is save yourself hundreds with labor and shipping and do your own recone, drop ins are simple the hardest part is done for you and full custom build isn't hard once you know what to do main part is correct part selection but its not hard if ypu have any clue but there is some poke n hope like spider choice well mainly how many because even tho there rated by compliance it still can be a hit or miss.
I think we’re looking at a numbers ratio, the sheer number of subs they ship is immense. In comparison, it’s a small fraction. I’m sure there are always to improve. I’ve seen them make revisions over the years.
