- Mazda RX8 is the WORST car we've ever owned, and you'll hate to love it too. We recently bought this RX-8 as a drift platform and are trying to get caught up with reliability before we get into the fun things like painting it, or actually sliding. YOU told us it would be unreliable and we still bought it. Now here we are, and you were right.

The center console display going out on the RX8 is a common issue, though we go through all of the common fixes, like rebuilding the radio face plate and none of it seems to fix our problem. By the end of the week, the car decided to flood itself and not start.

Hey, got your video which blew up today recommended and then watched all your other videos. I must say you are a goldmine like fr fr. I never saw a UA-camr with a month old channel who is so comfortable talking to the camera or do so great shots. You are seriously talented and on top of that you do interesting content. When I researched the battery drain issue, what I found out is Mazda Rx8 are natural battery draining cars. Best thing to do is get a deep cycle battery and ether start the car and let it run every 2 to 3 days, disconnect the battery, or keep a battery charger on it.
That’s crazy. These cars are so strange!
@@cyberunndesign I think Breal08 is correct.I have a 2007 totally stock with only 13,000 miles and the battery will drain if not started and run regularly. Many people suggest checking that the trunk light is not staying on by looking through the hatch between the rear seats. Not My issue but might be worth You checking it out.

I had the faceplate issue, but my display still worked. When I would hit bumps it’s would change the a/c controls by itself. Ended up getting a salvaged unit from another 8.

What happens is someone tries to pull the radio out by the face when it is still bolted in at the back of the radio and that pulls the insert out
I have this very same problem. I just haven’t fixed it lol but, I did have a fuse pop. That was an issue once the whole audio system went out one night while driving lol all my lights haha.. it was scary.The car is 20 years old. And just needs new paint. New suspension 😡. As far as the algorithm being stupid and just do your thing, make your videos. Occasionally share those videos on Twitter Instagram TikTok,toc you’ll find a niche of people. A good investment would be to get a rotary compression tester small price to pay to make sure your engine stays completely healthy. I’d think if you buy one it’s best to make an investment and get an entirely new engine if it’s got a lot of miles on the odometer. Or you could order one from” JDM place” my buddy has the owners number on speed dial. He owns all the GD M Pl. around the country. We have one here in Houston. We ordered my engine directly from Virginia and got it shipped directly here within a week. They’ve gone up since before Covid. The only reason why both of my engines of shit out is because I had a serpentine belt brake and stop burning a water pump since then. I have done an electric water pump by Davis Craig I got the 150 gallons per minute. It looks like a small little turbo with an actual Metal turbine in it with aluminum housing. they are in shape when your starting out can be such an overwhelming pain in the dick. But, when all your bases are covered it’s a dream. Sorry about my ADD. The engine that I currently have had about 105 psi across-the-board. So it’s probably sitting about 110 115 psi running have not checked out yet but that’s pretty damn good considering a new engine is 120 225+ Freshly rebuilt with all new parts. The reason why used JDM engine can be a good investment is that you typically will have a loan engine mileage with about 40 to 60,000 miles roughly due to the way that their emissions standards are. They have a very strict system that they have to pay attacks when their vehicles have a certain mileage if they want to keep driving it in the more miles the higher, the tax gets every year so they either rebuild the engine get an entirely new one or sell the car and get a new car. That’s why if you ever see videos of their junkyards they look like decent car lots here in the states it’s wild. If you have any questions about our exceeds, my buddy Darion, Farina knows the platform extremely well, and has had amazing luck with his car.

hey dont waste your time with the radio. i would get the metra kit to replace the factory unit. this will allow you to customize the display as well.
also to fix the flooded problem. try to bump start it towing it from another vehicle if it wont start on its own.
@@compoundcarbon Thanks! The radio doesn't bother me aside from not having AC... it's over *100 in california right now.
I kept cranking it and it eventually fired up again. Let it run and we're making sure to really rev it out before turning it off.

I know the video is not about the miata, but, do you plan on keeping the hubcaps? In my opinion, some turbo fans, or something like that, would make it look even more awesome, i love the cyber theme you're going with it, with the channel, in general, actually.
Yes, the moon eyes are staying. We actually have built, and sold sets of turbofans in the past but eventually settled on the discs for the miata. We’re glad you like the style!

It was the center display, once we got a new unit plugged in, the battery never died again.

The problem with shorts is that it is a new video form, so there is no “niches.” Not everybody likes cars so it doesn’t get pushed out. If only I were a teen girl that dances to music...
Either way, “pleasing the algorithm” has never worked for our channels... pleasing our followers does work though.

My roommate had a very similar issue with his 2012 mustang. Last year he finally got it sorted so it wouldn't drain the battery.
When we fixed the center console, the battery stopped draining! They say 2012 is way more reliable… hrmm.
Any thing worth doing in life is usually pretty tuff and always seems like it takes forever!!!!.... But I've never really succeeded at anything in life so what do i kno. Lol. But i for one love y'alls vids i have the alarm notifications set up and watch either at lunch break or after work. Keep it up guys!!!

if you expect to drive it for 2 years before any maintenance/repair, please dont buy touge weapons and other rare jdm icons for the price of a oneplus8 phone
for that price a flooded RX :[ with probably a dead trunk door sensor , yea what a disaster, by the end of summer dont even have to ask the car who was its worst owner [ at least the other one showed him off a little there and here, and was rough with it judging from state of it, compared to other morons, every weekend idle in traffic jams, collecting carbon deposits like us debt, siting in the trunk at parking lots, drinking rockstar from corona bottles and shit
Your gonna need a S2 starter and not the stock one and the car will turn over with no effort. Also upgrade the coil packs and ignition plugs. Lastly the cat has to go, it's pretty much mandatory in these cars along with premixing with 2 stock oil. Not doing those will make your life hell.

Not sure. We need to start drifting it to see how it performs stock. I’m thinking that we may need to do some work. I wish these engines held a turbo better.
Everyone gives the RX8 a lot of shit, but they always buy super cheap dead in the water cars. Its the same as any car, expect it has a more fragile engine that requires you to check the oil once a week lol. When you buy a car cheap expect it to be in bad wear, it always goes like that
We love this car, and have no issue maintaining and working on our cars. Creating youtube content is an art, and this is just a part that comes with it.
P.S. We just fixed a ton of stuff last night, so banger content is on the way.

@@thenet9537 What is your beef tho? It isn't about aesthetics, the battery is draining, causing reliability issues. The radio was likely the cause, so that is why we're trying to fix it.
