I have one of these and absolutely love it. I ended up calling it the Storm Trooper (for obvious reasons). It did have a grounding issue, but that was a quick fix. I think it’s so beautiful and great playing that I even bought a second one that stays in a different tuning, and I call that one the Clone Trooper!
@@el-ratatouille the grounding issue is very common with this guitar because of the black bridge plate. Loosen or remove the strings and unscrew the black bridge plate. Underneath, you should find a grounding wire touching the plate.
Unfortunately, because of the finish on the metal plate, the grounding wire sometimes does not ground properly. You may have to scratch a portion of the bottom of that plate to create a better contact for the grounding wire. This should fix it, and if it does not, then inspect the grounding wire in the control plate cavity. If you’re still unsure, you can always take it to a professional to look it over.
@@JedrekVRoscoethank you very much frien
@@JedrekVRoscoe Hello friend, I want to thank you because your solution has been fantastic, I love this guitar but that noise drove me crazy and with your indication it has been completely solved, and in no guitar store they gave me the solution, and removing the paint solved it
I am very grateful to you and very happy with my "new" guitar :-)
I have much more expensive guitars, but I love this one, very comfortable sound, everything
thank you very very much,
hi sirs, i have this one too color white, my problem is the body is picking up some smudge and I cant seem to clean it, its like its stuck forever :( asking for some tips in taking care of the body.
Should I buy squier affinity or this one contemporary
As a late starter in this guitar playing thing, I bought a white one of these as my first guitar. I wanted the trad "working man's" guitar shape, high output humbuckers to make a heavy noise, and something cool looking, and this ticked all the boxes.
good on ya mate but its going to be hard for you to really appreciate how awesome this guitar is until youve owned a few more ! haha
Best gt I own so far
I don’t normally play or own a squier, but when I do it’s this one, even got the same color. Saw it in the guitar shop I frequent, sat down and played it. Now I own it and love everything about it.
I bought my squier classic vibe, replaced the tuners and pickups with Fender American and love it.
How would you compare your CV with this one?
@@hindigenius I believe the CV gives you something that’s comparable to the traditional 50s-70s rock sound. I believe this one is meant for heavier, more recently-popularized subgenres of rock. Things like post-hardcore, emo, and such.
I own one and think it’s an absolute gem for what it costs. Plays and feels like a way more expensive guitar and that’s no BS. Fun to play.
I wish this would come with an ebony or rosewood fretboard.
I bought the gold one and let me tell you it is an amazing guitar. I own a couple of American fender telecaster and I picked this one up more than any other one. When I first saw the review on it I had to add it to my telecaster collection. And this is the one I pick up the most and play. Squire hit it out of the park with this one. For me I would have paid $800 for this guitar.
Owned this guitar for a year, absolutely love this thing. It's been my maain guitar ever since. Very comfortable guitar with great sound. My favorite sound from this guitat is clean with the pickup selector at the middle. The only issue i have with it is not so stellar high fret access and the reverse control plate. The reverse control plate makes it very easy to accidentally rotate the volume knob especially if you like to do big righthand movements. No issue as I can reverse the control plate again back to standard tele orientation. The guitar also yellows easily which is quite sad.
I tend to have the opposite problem with Tele control plates. With regular-style, I tend to hit the pickup selector! I prefer the reverse style for that, but I get your struggle as well. I do that with Strats all the time.
❤
This is probably the first demo video I've ever seen where the guitar is taken apart.
OK, just ordered affinity tele thinline online and I immediately regretted when seeing such good specs. But seeing your review, I’m reassured because it’s completely different from a conventional tele so I’m not missing something by getting a normalish tele.
Thx for the demo, this one definitely inspires different energy.
For AGES I wanted the white one, but when it finally came down to it, I chose the green/gunmetal one. With the pearly finish, it just seemed too flashy. I love my green one.
They’re not terribly expensive, all things considered. Why not both?
@@JedrekVRoscoe they’re certainly not the worst, but I could hardly justify buying the same guitar twice - unless I were planning on setting it up wildly different. At that point, though, I’d rather just invest on an entirely different model altogether.
@@Night5225 absolutely fair. I bought a second one after about a year of owning one just so I can keep it in a different tuning, with different strings. Took a lot of internal convincing, but ultimately I have poor self control. 😹
If you have some neighbors you want to tick off, just plug that Monster in after 11 at night and crank it up.. The cops will be banging on your door in no time. Sounds great in your hands John and great video work to on this video.
I snagged a second one of these for 209 at pro audio star. Both got gotoh hardware cts pots and some Ernie ball 11s. I put a Seymour Duncan hot rail for tele in both and an invader in the white and a black winter in the gunmetal one. After a nice workout of elbow grease the frets are crowned levels polished and surprisingly on Theo frets were slightly high and 4 ball ends needed dressing. Other than normal setup stuff It’s a fucking awesome guitar for the money. The neck is worth the money on its own. I’m a little surprised they didn’t put a bridge humbucker in the neck, the atomic bridge measured hot like 15k vs 9k in the neck. The hot rail just doesn’t push the volume the way I like, I may wire it backwards so I can drive the hell outta the invader/BW.
Squier has been killing it for the last 2-3 years, I would have no hesitations on buying this one especially with the roasted maple neck. I would however change out the pots for 500k.
Just got one today, the same Color and everything. Put 0.11” on immediately and it came to life.
Just got the white one rolling my way! Can't wait to dial it in and make it mine! Great review!
I just picked up a used one for $200 (USD). Needed new string and a few minor adjustments but it’s a sturdy rock machine to say the least. Neck is very smooth and comfortable. Stays in tune. So far I have zero complaints or concerns.
Wish there was an all black finish with rosewood fingerboard. The other 2 are shoreline gold and gunmetal green. Sculpted heel should be standard.
When you added that muff, whoa!
I have that very guitar… white with black is so sweet!
It looks even better close up … and plays great!
Just minor adjustments and this guitar sings
(well, my better playing friends really enjoyed playing this guitar)!!!
I didn't know this variation existed. I like it a lot.
These are great. Mine has an insanely flamed neck!
This should be great for schools and education; solid, simple and no hum!!
This guitar just came through my pawn shop today! Awesome guitar!
Purchased this guitar recently. Which fretboard cleaner would you recommend?
I have a Telecaster us I also have a player Tele made in Baja so it is California just over the border from us. My American Tele has Tex MEX pups that I don't like, going to put twisted Tele's on soon. So at the moment I play the Baja.
This will make a fine wall piece in my living room
Great guitar, wish I could buy this, yet winning a custom made guitar is awesome. Thanks for this! ...
Guitar is the sh*t! It has a flat radius (12" I think) and it absolutely shreds. The rail humbucker in the bridge is hot, clear and crisp--even with distortion extended chords sound through. Neck humbucker sounds a bit flat to me, but it works well with reverbs and ambient type effects. Could always tinker with EQ pedal to dial it in, or just swap it out for something else. Oh, and it stays in tune for literal days. So, yeah, I think it's a must buy if you tend to play metal or things with "dirty" tones.
How heavy is your guitar? I bought one before one month and it is very heavy
@GuitarTunings33The fretboard wasn't a compound radius as far as I know, so yeah the relative "flatness" of the radius stays consistent across the board. I never A-B compared it with a Jackson--but I don't think Jackson is putting out roasted maple necks of this quality at a similar price point.
@@IliasK-gw6dk I never weighed it, but it was fairly light weight for a *telecaster*. Tele's are usually pretty heavy, and relative to others, this one was pretty light I felt.
i absolutely love the style of this squier....:)
These are an incredible value! I’ve got one.
People like me ALWAYS knock the pickup selector when giving it some energy , I can see you confused where it is ,on occasion. It makes more sense where it is. I wish the Strat selector was somewhere else it's even more annoying for me or anyone with big hands
Same.
how are the fret ends? do they need polished out of the box or are they pretty flush to the neck?
I play this guitar more than my Strat Player, ehatever you do, protect if from direct AND indirect SUNLIGHT! My tele got a horrible yellowish tone and now I must bear with it.
It’s a graphite nut btw. Nice review
What about mentioning the carved heel?
Pretty good sounding guitar for the price.
I have this. The only issue is that the black metal plates on the pots and bridge easily gets peeled of on starts to rust. Another thing is the finish, it yellow's when exposed to the sun easily so better hide this one in a hard case if you won't like it. The Pearl Pink HSS contemprary Squire Strat I also have is now Rose Gold, which looks better IMO.
Well its made in china.. its a nobuy
Are there any neck dive issues on this? Just curious cause I had a ltd tele shape and it had pretty bad dive.
Which strings are best for this guitar?
John, Zach, I love you guys but I am unsure about this one,, It's Like Dropping a Top Drag Big Block In a Golf Cart!! I would buy one Just for the Rare ness and I see a lot of guys upgrading it right out the gate, Never Liked Popular but the Ideas of just trying 1 is tempting it really looks Kool, Have a Merry Christmas Guys Love what y'all do and hope U hit that 50k soon Brothers 🎄🎸🙏🤘
Merry Christmas and thank you so much for all the support!
I love the looks of this guitar, however, it is not for someone who like to do drop tuning. Also, the pickup produces a mono high gain effect which is entirely different from other guitars.
You said faux binding. Is it just painted on or something?
I'd prefer a rosewood fingerboard. The guitar has some features similar to my Squier Jim Root tele (e.g. body contours), and poplar is the wood from which my 1996 Mexican tele is made, so it's not a new thing.
Please don't take the neck off like that. That's a great way to get neck pocket cracks. If the guitar is laying face up, lift the neck straight upwards, keeping everything horizontal.
I have one. Love it.
If it doesn’t have stainless steel frets, can we really consider it contemporary?
it would be $250-300+ more
@@supernothing77 Harley Benton begs to differ
I look at this and just think “oh gojira”
I have one of these. It's pretty decent but I'm already swapping some things out to make it better. I do like the smooth feel of the neck though - thick but fast.
@taxation is theft memes frets are nice. I think the tones are good but dark sounding. Bridge pup is HOT
Cool playing and nice guitar
Hi, i only discovered your channel recently, in fact i was looking for reviews on this guitar. im only 15 and this would be my fisrt time buying my own guitar, i have a nice strat but it was free from a neighbour. i really like the sound and looks of this guitar and from what i can tell from reviews and comments its well liked. Should i find somewhere to test guitaer before buying???
my guitar teacher says thta teles are very solid guitar but this isn't exactly your typical tele sound
This is a cool guitar and I'd say go with your gut - if you like the sound then go for it. No, it's definitely not a traditional Tele but that has little to do with whether or not you'd personally like it. Please let us know if you buy! It's in stock: www.zzounds.com/a--3979398/item--SQU0371225
@@PlayandTradeGuitars thank you very much for getting back to me!!!
This axe would make Telemaster John V proud!
All of the specs on every site says , it’s a graphite nut . I wonder if it really is ? Another reviewer said it was plastic also …
I just got this today it’s amazing
Its crazy they put a 12in radius on squires but not on there American builds i understand its foe beginners which is why but i mean still yk
Is that kinda orange??
Nice Video it’s help me to know this guitar
I’m ngl I feel super bad for hating on this company for so long they make killer looking and sounding guitars for the best price ranges ever they don’t just sell Strats they sell other stuff like this as well man what was wrong with me I owe an apology lol
I own one gunmetal Grey, didn't get any paper work! have asked get no response ,can anyone email me a copy ?
Bought the gunmetal one and really like it. I did have to level some frets to get the action I like but sounds good and the bridge pickup is pretty hot.
I hoped it was made in Indonesia...
👍🏻
Are you sure about the nut material ?
Every other source says Graphtek.
I like Squire's and it's probably me but i do actively avoid Chinese built ones. I go after the Cor-Tek made ones. It's probably just me but you seem to get a better quality of instrument from Indonesia, right down to the skunk stripe, not a feature on Chinese made ones. This contemporary Tele is all fur coat and no knickers. No coil taps? Really?
A comment for the algorithms.
Too distorted man!
Chinese made? For $400?
What is the problem? China is where lots of Yamaha factories are located and the home of one of best hand-made guitar companies Eastman. Maybe I’m too young to learn the history but nowadays China-made guitars have great price and quality balance imo❤. I’d definitely give it a try!
this tone check hurts my ears
guy cant play
Lol not so fast. I let someone talk me into purchasing a Squire 40th anniversary Gold pickguard Strat model. It sucks and I should have known. I’ve never liked Squires. They’re terrible. BTW this Strat is my first Squire owned. I’ve always said they suck and they still do. You can get a better Strat or Tele from other brands for the same money.
That Squire Fender Telecaster sounds like crap..save your money and buy a custom US made Fender Strat …get what you pay for .,China do they have a Disneyland there? Instead of buying this subpar Squire go see Mickey Mouse better choice!
