- In today's video I wanted to show you how I extract the seeds from my Echeveria succulent flowers and how I store them for future use.
I will be doing another video on how I plant these succulent seeds and we will grow them together. I'm saving this little project for when we move into our new house and get settled in. I'm going to start a whole succulent seed section.

As always, Thank you for watching and Happy planting! I really appreciate every one of you for stopping by and continuing to support me throughout my journey!! It's so great to be able to grow with all of you! - Розваги
My GF will love this. She LOVES succulents.
So glad to hear that! They are becoming so popular these days. So many great varieties to choose from
Thank you a lot for this informative video! I had no idea you could pollinate the flowers of succulents and plant them later, I'll try it right away with my echeveria:) greetings from Germany
Awesome info Stacey!!!
Thank you!
You have some really great information I have to tell you speak so clearly and so so well with no awkward pauses or distractions, or stumbling... Really impressive cause with all that you even pull off 'Cute!" Rick on! 😊
I may listen to you at half speed..can I do that?? ... so I don't miss anything? If anyone knows how maybe a quick response?
Bless you and Blessings to all of us in the audience!
Thank you so much for your kind words😊 Stay inspired and keep on growing🐞🍃
Thank you for sharing! Great info!
Wow, this video was perfect timing. I have 2 plants that have beautiful flowers on them and I didn’t know what to do with them, I wanted to try try planting from seeds and now I give it a try. Thanks so much for explaining the process. BTW I live in New Hampshire so succulents here can be a challenge.
I'm so happy I can help!! Happy growing! Keep me posted. Sometimes it can take a few weeks-months for seeds to germinate and start growing. They grow pretty slow and require pretty consistant moisture. If seeds dry out too much it can cause them to die quickly, but if overwatered it can cause mold to start growing. I wish you the best of luck!
Stacey Here we grow again you’re the best, thanks for your help
New to your channel and succulents! Thanks for the great information. :)
Your very welcome! I'm so happy you or here with us! Let me know if you need anything. I'm always here to help in anyway I can
Great video. I subbed.
-How do you get your succulents to flower?
-When would the best time to pollinate during the flowering stage(initial bloom, or wait a little)?
-Do you let your seed pods dry before removing them?
-Do the seeds need to be cold stratified to germinate?
Thank you. Great at. 75 playback speed.
Yeah she could take a breath right? Lol
Great information the only thing I would add is that you can propagate the flower stalks as well, just let them callous and plant them, they will root and new plants will pop out of the leaf margins, it helps if you remove some of those leafs from the stem and propagate those too
Very interesting! I've never tried to root the stalks before. I'll have to do that with the ones currently growing.. thanks for the info! Your support is so much appreciated😊
@@StaceyHerewegrowagain you’re welcome it’s like every part of these plants grow lol
Thank you for the info!!!
I’ve done tons of propagating but none from seeds. Very helpful:)
Your very welcome.. I'm always happy to help so don't hesitate to ask if you need anything.
Very informative quick question does that plant die after its done blooming?
It all depends on where the bloom is coming from. If it's directly in the center it could be a death bloom, but if it's off to the side it shouldn't die afterwards and will usually throw out a few baby plants from the stem, while or after the plants done flowering. I recently started cutting the blooms off my succulents just because it draws a lot of energy out of the plant, but it's ultimately up to you in the end😊
Thank you so much for this info. My tipsy turvy has a lot of open flowers and tomorrow I will pollinate them. After I store them when can I plant them? Is it right away or do I have to wait for spring? Could I put them in a vase, inside a greenhouse? So many questions. It would make for a great video ;) Love from Portugal
I usually wait about 2 to 4 weeks after picking the dried flowers to start planting them. (As long as the flowers are dried and crispy all the way through on the stalk, you know its time to harvest... you'll want to plant any succulent seeds within 6 months I hear. They can become less viable I guess as time goes on, if not stored properly. I store them in a paper envelope and they seem to do great. Just making sure to remove all the flower material first, before storing the seeds in the envelope. I'll have to do a video for you guy's on how I extract and save them. Thanks for the recommendation. I always love to help where people need it most. I'll try to get to it as quickly as I can. Don't be afraid to ask any questions you might have in the meantime.
Hi Stacey, thank you for the video. I did everything you said in the video and now I have the dried up flowers left. Can you tell me how to plant the seeds afterwards?
A lot of people just sprinkle them on top of cactus and succulent soil and keep them moist until they pop. This is going to be my first time starting succulents from seed, so I'll let you know how I sprout them when I can get to it. Things are really hectic right now
Great info thanks. Can you use the leaves off the stalk to grow a plant from? Please and Thank you.
Some do propagate from the leaves along the stalk. Usually the lower ones are more successful, but I always like to try all of them because you'd be surprised what can grow a baby lol
Wait, so how do you know it’s ready? And also you keep the flower In tact until it’s seeded right? Then pull off?
Yes, I wait until my flowers close up and start to dry. Then I take them off because they're usually pollinated and seeded by then.
Can you explain what you mean by pollinate with details?
Hey Stacey, how long is it going from plant to flower? Thanks!!
Usually succulents start to flower after they're a few yrs old.. this flower lasted for approx 2-3 months (thats from first signs of bloom, to the flower perishing).
Do you store the entire dried up flower or just the tiny seeds inside ? My flower stalks are outside so I am pretty sure the bugs did the pollinating for me 😊 Also what time of year should I plant them? It's October and I am in Florida ?
Not sure. Bought ghost plant seeds on eBay and I got dried up flowers so I think it's fine.
So you should pluck the flower bud before it blooms?
I leave it on there until it opens completely, pollinates and starts to dry.. than I cut my flowers off, this way I know they're pollinated and have fully developed seeds inside. If you cut the flowers off before they dry out on the stalk, there's a chance the seeds won't be developed correctly😉
How do you know the seeds are ready? I just pollinated some Echeveria Ensirenma flowers, they dried up and I cut them and store them. But how do I know there are seeds?...
If the flower pollinated correctly their should be little seed pods inside of each flower. They are very tiny and filled with little microscopic seeds, so It's hard to see them. I did my best with trying to show what they look like.
Stacey Here we grow again ok, so it seeds pretty quickly then? I guess my question was, how long does it take to seed? Should I wait at least 2 weeks before trying to open up the dried seed pod?
I usually wait about a month for mine I feel the longer the better. I store them in a paper envelope so they can breathe.
Can this work on a black prince echeveria? Also will it be able to pollinate by itself?
Sure. I don't see why it wouldn't work
@@StaceyHerewegrowagain thanks! Just got it 2 days ago and i don't know anything about it 😅
No problem. I'm here if you need anything 😊
Hi there, your information is invaluable. I do have a problem thouh. Instead of growing the florwers up from the bottom I got 3 growing from the top. I don't know what to do with them without hurting my plant. I love it. Can you walk me through it so I don'''''t hurt it.? Thank you very very much.
It might be the death bloom which usually occurs at the end of a succulents life cycle. By the time it perishes, offshoots (baby plants) should grow, which can be separated and propagated when they get big enough. It's hard to say what it can be without seeing it, but that would be my guess if the whole middle portion is starting to pop out and grow upwards. I usually cut the flower stalk down, once the flowers have pollinated and dried. Than you can harvest and plant the seeds inside to create more succulents.
Hope this helps. Lmk if you need anything else😊
What is Lmk? I am going to try and save it as long as I can. The babies are there and ready to come off. I am going to try to cut the top off and replant it and leave the bottom. as is. If this doesn't work then I will know for sure that the the big plant is lost but I will have the babies. Thank you so much for your info. It helped a lot.

Anytime! I wish you all the best. Don't get discouraged, it's all a learning process and each plant reacts differently in each situation. Time, patience and a little tlc always goes a long way 😉 They're pretty hardy plants, just as long as they don't get over-watered or burned up severely. They should bounce back and grow pretty quickly, during their active growing season. I'm always here if you need anything. Don't hesitate to ask!
Lmk means let me know.. sorry about that
Any advice on growing them? Im having difficulty
Little waterings, very infrequently when the bottom leaves start to become deflated and wrinkly a bit. I give about 4-6 hrs of direct sunlight in the early A.M.. Thats it😊 .. Let me know if you need anything more specific.
@@StaceyHerewegrowagain from seed
Then what?? Do you then wrap them in wet paper towel to sprout? Or just put them in soil?
Lay the seeds on top of some succulent soil and keep the soil slightly moist, until your seeds start to sprout (usually happens within a few weeks)
Is the dolphin plant the same way ??
Not sure about that one, sorry

Ur video is good , but not detail enough .
Thank you.. how could I make it better? Any suggestions? What kind of detailed information would you have liked?
@@StaceyHerewegrowagain maybe a little help from your fren or sister to zoom on what u do , juat maybe 😝😝 i never make any video , shy on me 🥴🥴🥴
@@StaceyHerewegrowagain Thank you I like your video! This is so helpful. I think it would be even more helpful to add the pictures directly into the video instead of directing us to another link. I got confused when you talk about the seeds and flower pods...
I know, I'm so sorry about that. I actually just learned how to add photos to my videos, finally! I couldn't figure out how to do that when editing and I apologize. The quality of should be a lot better.. I invested in some new equipment and editing software to make it more fun and its easier for me to teach too 😉 Thanks for your advice and input. I love making changes that make it easier on everyone else, so don't hesitate if you have any other suggestions 😊 Thanks for being here! I really appreciate your support!
