Ruyi didn't have the heart for being mean. I could tell it was difficult for her, but she did it for Souxin. Meanwhile, I can see Hailan, Ling and chun would have been happy to do even more to Jia
I can tell that she's not someone that enjoys harming others, by the fact that she's rolling the prayer beads in her hands while Jia was being punished. But she had to do it as a form of punishment and to concretize her status as the reigning Empress.
when i was a child, i liked to watch these chinese traditional shows. but when i grew up, just realized most of all these chinese imperial shows focus on backstabbing and unhappy political lives in the palace, with wicked scheming people here and there. the schemings are always similar, and grew out bored of it, because it's heart-wrenching to see people backstabbing each other. beautiful place with beautiful people, but no happiness. how sad. but thank you for bringing back the hobby of watching these dramas, can enjoy it after a long while. But these people are amazing, in how they can co-exist with each other even though they're kinda enemies - can you imagine several modern wives of a husband, gathering regularly?? these people's patience are very high.
I don't understand Chinese, don't know what this movie/tv show is about. cannot care much about the dialogues but how enjoyable it is to see a bully being beaten into submission. this was pure class. and some poetry too

It’s amazing how all the concubine and noble consorts respect her but one. In this dramas normally everyone burns with jealousy inside. Then again this one did enough damage to Ruyi for the entire harem.
I've always enjoyed the scenes where every concubine ganged up against her. Just FYI, according to the novel she was given the posthumous title Shu Jia, which rhymes and translate to English as 'loser'
@Long Feiye Your comment is useless too (and so your comprehensive skills), since you failed to understand the meaning of the sentence 'in the novel' as per my comment. It's a Chinese Drama named "Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace". Here are some highlight clips, hope you can love it! ua-cam.com/play/PLByFhIR-DQCCBCQ0RNBDp9VHDKCtuTy-Q.html
Context for those watching for the first time: Jia caused trouble prior to Ruyi's promotion to Empress by creating false claims that Ruyi cheated on the Emperor with a monk. The biggest "evidence" of this was an important religious bracelet claimed to be given by the monk to Ruyi as a gift. However, the bracelet was proven to be a phony one created by Jia's maid because it was made with carnelian stone instead of agate. Those two stones look similar at a glance but are actually different- carnelian being more inferior than agate. Using anything but the specific stones for that particular bracelet was considered sacrilegious and those of higher ranking or status grew up knowing how to differentiate stones and examine their qualities properly. Any Buddhist monk would not think of switching out any stone in that bracelet and Ruyi herself was also religious woman who would have refused the gift due to its use of carnelian. Jia herself would have known the difference between the two stones. Jia's maid, however, didn't know that there was a difference, and Jia failed to double check that the fabrication her maid did was correct. Instead of ridding Ruyi, Jia was demoted and punished, her maid was dismissed, and a lot of people got hurt as a result of torture during the investigation. One of those people was Suoxin, who was a loyal and beloved servant of Ruyi, and the torturing she had to endure broke her leg permanently to the point where she can only limp. Jia was re-promoted when Ruyi became Empress, yet wore bright red right after the coronation as a means to insult her. Ruyi planned to give everyone presents and decided to use the opportunity to avenge the victims of the investigation by intentionally giving Jia purposely large, uncomfortable carnelian earrings. Jia would have no choice but to wear it unless she experienced further ridicule and risked being demoted again- especially after Ruyi herself just promoted Jia to a higher status. Of course, the other consorts and concubines caught on and used their taunting to either be Ruyi's favor or for their personal revenge against Jia. Suoxin no longer works in the Palace due to her injuries, as seen by her limping as she walked to Rongpei. Ruyi arranged Suoxin to marry her childhood sweetheart as a reward for her servitude, relieving her from her duties as a maid, and she lives in relative luxury as a married woman since then. Suoxin promised to visit when she can and Ruyi promised that her former maid is always welcomed to visit the Palace any time. On this particular visit, Ruyi made it a show for Suoxin to watch vengeance be served. Also, you may notice there's some significance and references with "claws" and "nail guards" throughout the series. Finger nails are a common motif seen in both the show and the novel the show is based on where the trend of having long ring and pinky nails is practiced by the women in the harem to represent their status and is used in figure of speech to reference allies or subordinates. This is directly referenced when Jia yells at Rongpei for inflicting pain on her. Physically you cannot do any labor with them without breaking, so they can be seen as a way yo differentiate between a proper lady and a servant, and having long nails is seen in all the women that have status- dowagers, consorts, princesses, concubines, ladies, and their daughters. You would wear nail protection accessories mentioned as "nail guards" whenever you can but they can get pretty long to represent your time in the harem. You'll see in the series where former servants gain status as harem members now grow out their nails or women in the harem lose status and either breaking their nails as a sign of them no longer able to regain their place or having them forcibly removed from their hands. Usually, when punishments are done, they are not inflicted on the person themselves but their servants, which is why Rongpei takes full responsibility for her actions and why the other women warn Jia's maid to stay in line. Only when the cause for punishment is more severe and therefore meant to be humiliating would it be done directly towards the woman herself in such a public space where everyone must watch. The act of Jia getting hurt in such a way is not just inflicting pain but humiliation too.
I finally understand the dirty water comment. When an authoritative figure wants to impose her power she will use a scapegoat to hurt another, and the scapegoat is to be held responsible. If everyone follows the rules spilling dirty water on the person of power (snitching) would be impossible. These are the strategies used back then and used now still by people in power.
Wei Yanwan (Ling) one of Quanlong emperor´s (Hongli) concubines. ´Wei´was a Han bannerwoman, not a Manchu as she states here. Posthumously her name was changed in Manchu name Weigiya, and she became a Manchu bannerwoman posthumously. Jia, the concubine who gets the carnelian earrings, is from a Korean clan. Her family was later moved into a Manchu banner.

Their acting is amazing!!! So tense and chilling!
I don't understand Chinese, don't know what this movie/tv show is about. cannot care much about the dialogues but how enjoyable it is to see a bully being beaten into submission.
this was pure class. and some poetry too
I love period pieces like this but I bet in real life, at that time, you didn't live long enough to finish uttering such arrogance regardless of status.
覺得如懿傳真的很耐看
I can't believe I just watched the whole thing. Never searched it, but saw it in my homepage for some reason. Their dresses are beautiful!
Rongpei literally said: don't you even dare to spill in front of the emperor or i'll--- *cut throat gesture
🤣
I wondered why she didn't like the earrings....until I looked it up and apparently agate is called "Ma nao" which means horse brain-
actually the words are different. and she doesn’t dislike them bc they’re ma nao, they’re actually hong yu sui, which was a gem involved in her ploy to set the queen and a monk up for infidelity
@@graceguo2199 Ooh. I thought I was onto something 😔
@WonderWall_Aesthetic it's also revenge for her maid the hook of the earrings are too big for her small ear piercing so when the forced it in she started bleeding
The senior concubine is the one who got the agate earrings
Ma nao is something that’s similar to jade I think
The title has me dying 😂😂
Me too 🤣
Me three! Like what?!? Get the Bitch together sis!
Rong Pei, the fiercest character. Don't mess with Ruyi or Rong Pei will come after you with no mercy
The language is beautiful! It flows like velvet. Can someone tell me if it's Mandarin or Cantonese?
It‘s Mandarin.
@@什么样子世界 Thank you!!
Imma be honest out of all the Consort Jia was my favorite she is so beautiful even though she was evil i couldnt hate her
also Consort Gao and Charmine Sheh was my favorite in the Yanix Palace they are so beautiful
Yep! Despite she’s evil bitch and i hate her character so much, she’s really beautiful and her acting was awesome. I love the actress 🥰
Saaame here!! I like the goodies and the baddies in yanxi palace, just an awesome drama. The character i disliked was the Emperor 😤
Yall need to fix your eyes shes mad ugly
@@meatballsandwich5329 fix your heart first strawberry.
I couldn't stop laughing throughout this scene. The SHADE. 😂😂😂
I dont know why this came up on my feed but I was hook!!!! Damn!!
It came up on your feed because you were recently watching king Phillips's funeral and the Queen of UK being alone . Hence the UA-cam AI recommended you this video .
@@sheeltushar798 haha wrong answer
This came up for me bc I was watching anime clips.
I was watching airplane videos. But I'm glad it pop up 😁
I had previously watched the drama but it was recommended to me under you will be found by dear evans
I have never heard or seen this show before. How it came into my recommendations I don't know. But the ladies, costumes, and scene were beautiful.
It’s “Ruyi’s royal love in the palace”. Look it up on Viki. I can only watch it with a US VPN.
Some scenes will break your heart, but what is a given you'll hate and detest the Emperor quite a lot, so be prepared.
Zhou xun played the lady with such grace beauty and intelligence . She won my admiration , as American it helps me to better understand the culture and beauty on China and the republic of China also. I loved the tone to her voice and her quite simple heart of a great lady she played in this movie but also as a person.
The word that always pops into my head whenever I see or hear her is “ serene”.
I randomly found this in my recommends and i love it
Who’s left ? Your left or my left ?😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Me too...thinking the exact same thing, imagine Rong Pei misunderstand it and gave the wrong box haha
Hahahahaha me too!
I wondered about this too lol. If you look at her torso though, you can sorta see how she’s indicating her left with her head.
I have never in my life watching this series or any Chinese imperial series, but UA-cam decided to suggest me today, and now im invested
周迅的菸嗓太棒了
It’s amazing how all the concubine and noble consorts respect her but one. In this dramas normally everyone burns with jealousy inside. Then again this one did enough damage to Ruyi for the entire harem.
This just showed up in recommendation. I'm hooked, that empress was increible!
Gosh... I can feel the tension through the screen
Was that day marked as Jia-bashing day on everyone’s calendars? Everyone worked together to bring her down as if it had all been planned in advance!
LOL no one liked her to begin with. She was always cutting with her remarks or sarcastic since the early days.
I did not even pointed out that the underlying sarcasm was related to the historical context. It was purely part of the fictional story.
你说我史书记载和虚拟小说分不清
我还嫌你不懂得大字,连基本英文单词都不明白。
@Long Feiye I should had thanked you instead. 是啊我该谢你啊,让我大开眼界见视见视原来还有像你这人的,无论是分辨能力还是语言能力都位居我之下。谢谢你啊,起码我不感觉那么自卑了。
善自珍重啊。
@@gp2779 I have seen bits and pieces of this out of order. When Jia 'dies' she doesn't really die does she? She just gets the poison again?
I literally found this clip a few weeks ago.
Cut to now, I finished the series yesterday.
I am in TEARS!! This was so emotional I feel so bad for Ruyi!! The harem was hell for her and the emperor was such an asshole! All of them were. But beautiful show and phenomenal acting!
If he wasn't so blind to Yanwen's ways and playing up to his ego or so obsessed with Rong pin he wouldn't have been such as asshole.
Like how did you do a 180 on the only person in your life that you not only trusted your inner thoughts with but also court matters, which an Empress was never supposed to be involved with
What is this series called? It's already addicting and I've being deprived of these passive-aggressive politics.

I clicked on this vid cuz of the title 💀
Same
This is the one that did it, the C Series that diverted my attention away from K series, now am in deep. By the way i highly recommend “Ruyi’s love in the palace” its bloody good! 👌🏾
For me it's the Chinese drama "Go Ahead" it's bloody brilliant
After this classic, watch THE REBEL PRINCESS aka SHANG YANG FU...
If you love this, you will LOVE “nothing gold can stay” it’s on UA-cam too!
@@thexvault ..watched already..👍
@@thexvault yes! Nothing gold is fantastic, my obsession was unhealthy tbh
Ruyi is straight-up savage
Am I the only one that enjoyed seeing her being in pain from the earrings being put on and her ears being bloody? Honey you mess with the wrong Empress.
" Im not Happy"..I am the Empress sitting in the seat you want so much!!!!!😂😂😂😂..LOVE IT!
They look so elegant with their clothing.
Ohhhh the reads were deep in this one! Child I live, what show is this!!!

Rongpei is so gangsta 😆😆😆!!! I’m glad that she is with Ruyi because of all that Ruyi had endured while becoming the Emperor’s wife!!! I know that this had been out for awhile now but watching the full movie , here on UA-cam, it’s definitely one ☝🏾 of my favorites ( while also seeing some of the snippets). I need to actually buy the book because I know that the book would be probably more interesting as well.
To think if it wasn’t for Jia and that other evil consort it would had been a peaceful harem
Humiliation is best served as a pair of earrings.
Dayumm all this graceful savagery. I will definitely find this series to binge watch
It's a Chinese Drama named "Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace". Here are some highlight clips, hope you can love it!

I like the way the empress showed her authority and dominance
This drama was sooo good that I could not watch Yanxi Palace. The acting, casting, soundtrack 👌🏾
Context for those watching for the first time:
Jia caused trouble prior to Ruyi's promotion to Empress by creating false claims that Ruyi cheated on the Emperor with a monk.
👍👍👍
What is this movie/show called??
嘉貴妃的耳墜是真的
Jia’s earrings are real
純貴妃的耳墜是假的
But Chun’s earrings are fake
Hahahaha
This was a fantastic series - not many productions as complex and fascinating to watch. 💐👏👏
i dont know what the F is going on, but this scene is so intense.
You think you know what passive aggressiveness looks like.. then you watch this 😂
Wow, just a few minutes and the conversations had so much depth... No wonder so many had recommended this drama.
I didn't search for this but am I glad it was recommended...100%
I watched many seasons. I had to take a break because I just couldn't keep watching how the Emperor treated her.
THE WOMEN IN THIS SERIES WERE BRILLIANT. WANT TO GIVE THEM ALL AWARDS. THEY WERE SO DAM GOOD.
Jia your still a concubine no matter what you do that won't change
I finally understand the dirty water comment. When an authoritative figure wants to impose her power she will use a scapegoat to hurt another, and the scapegoat is to be held responsible. If everyone follows the rules spilling dirty water on the person of power (snitching) would be impossible. These are the strategies used back then and used now still by people in power.
The Narcissistic Abuse and Authority in the Chinese Imperial Harm was fierce!
I’m so addicted to this and I have no idea what I am even watching
Yo why do I get american reality tv vibes from this? 😭
Rong Peiiiiiii‼‼‼‼‼..that's how sass one should be..Ruyi X Rong Pei were my jam here‼
Wei Yanwan (Ling) one of Quanlong emperor´s (Hongli) concubines.
Hailan has been WAITING for this moment for years xD
Wow! The acting was impeccable.
This randomly popped up on my feed and I just had to watch 😂😂😂
Korean drama is Loud but Chine is 😶INTENSE! The air is so thick with suspense it feels like chopsticks and knives will be flying off any minute during these women's conversation
I love that Ruyi let Suoxin watch the punishment
These titles get better by the day
Everyone is on board on bullying this arrogant concubine & i love it lol
Ruyi is a true Goddess!!
Fuck dude. The social mechanics playing here has me fucking baffled that people were/are this cunning and ruthless naturally. Humans fucking scare me
I started watching this drama last year but the 1st episodes or so I couldn’t get into it but this clip here I’m definitely going back to watch in full
The way the Queen talks is 👌👌👌👌
