I'm watching this in awe. Absolutely gorgeous! Starry Night is one of my favourite paintings of all time. My mom made Noon: Rest from Work with cross stitches. Seeing someone painting on clothes or shoes with such precision just makes me speechless. Landscape with Plowed Field shoes are just breathtaking.
I don't know if anyone mentioned this before but you could have also used canvas primer and regular acrylic paint for the shoes - or at least that's what I did a couple of years ago. The primer dries clear though it makes the fabric a little bit stiff (just like a canvas would be) and it makes painting way easier (because you don't depend on fabric colour palettes). Loved your video, now I want to go back to painting shoes myself!

Omg, the minute I saw that paint brush I was it’s from the zen collection I bought 4 of those is a variety for my high school art class and let me tell you those are like the most high quality budget brushes I think I have ever bought there so nice and even with use of India ink they just work so beautifully!

i absolutely LOVE the royal and langnickel (however you spell it) brush. for every painting i mainly use the 20/0 or 3/0 brushes by them. absolutely great!!

Around 3:36 when u started talking about why you like Van Gogh, you kept on using present tense instead of past tense!! These are beautiful! Quick tip for the things you don’t want paint to get on cover it with painters tape or masking tape hope that’s helpful for your next project!

$60 is a perfect price for the Vans shoes. What I said at the beginning was kind of a joke because spending $60 on the vans shoes would actually be way easier for me than taking the time to paint my own. Mine are handmade - hours of work put into them, each shoes is unique. They aren’t easy to paint. Art isn’t EASY. So I can see why you think that, but coming from an artist’s perspective, mine actually should be priced more than $80.

You're right - I will definitely look into getting better quality shoes. Of course, that would up the price, but it would be better overall. And painting shoes is not a new things at all :) Countless people have done it. And I've known many artists who painted van Gogh shoes long before Vans did. Many artists on instagram, for example.

I know this video is a bit older but i know that when screenprinting shirts there is a certain medium that gets mixed in the paint to make it flexible so maybe that exists for a acrylic paint as well :)
Hey! To get rid of the paint being so hard just hand wash it! I used to paint my clothes and if you just hand wash them it can get some of the stiffness out

You can put a white layer on the shirt and then put the color above it. This will keep the paint a little bit softer :)
