Suzuki Sidekick Sport custom bumper project

- I built this bumper for my 1996 Suzuki Sidekick Sport. The sport submodel was only produced from 1996-1998. It was designed to fit a v6 engine that never made it through the US's safety and emissions programs. As part of that design, the frame rails were spaced further apart than a normal Sidekick. So, even though the sport looks similar to other sidekicks and trackers, certain aftermarket accessories (including bumpers) don't fit. The factory bumper was in rough shape, so I decided to pull it off and make my own.
I ended up with a custom plate bumper that looks good, and adds all sorts of functionality to the sidekick. It is equipped with a Warn M8000 winch, Viair 400c air compressor with approximately 2 gallons of air storage, and twin LED light bars for added light. - Авто та транспорт
Best plate bumper I’ve seen yet...!!! Looks great and functional... and the best part, you did it yourself !! This is the first of your videos I’ve watched and now I’m subscribing... I’m going to build one for my 2001 4runner, thanks for posting, this is inspiring.
Thanks for sharing this project! You've helped inspired me to make my own bumper for my 91 Trooper!
Love it. You did a super job and I like how you made innovative built ins to the bumper.
amazing bumper, amazing integration, amazing video!!! just over all.. good job, man.

Very cool design and functionality!
Wish there were some talented and educated people like u in my country..........
I don't even own this vehicle, but I'm watching it for your DIY/fabrication skills! Nice work!!
What a sweet build man , Thumbs up !!
Very nice bumper. I just bought an 03 Tracker as a toad for my motor home. No real plans for upgrades other than wheels and tires this fall, but I do enjoy seeing what other people do.
Nice work, I seriously dig this. When I find the right tracker/sidekick I'm definitely fabricating the bumpers
That's an awesome idea to use the bumper as an air tank !!!
Sick build! 👍
I built one of those in my dreams. Nice job! Would look great on my 04' Chevy Tracker!

Nice bumper.
Wow! Genius.

I'd be worried someone would steal my Suzuki badge, not. LOL Seriously nice build.
nice setup! id have the lights a bit more recessed or protected, but still great design
This is Awesome! You should be an engineer for SpaceX!
I would seriously pay for one that nice.
That bull bar is better quality then ARB.
nice!
wery NICE.
great!!!
I need the measurements of that Bull bar, could you tell me? Thank you.
@4:16 Wow😲 the tow hook switched places....
Really well thought out. I am curious about the long term durability of the air reservoirs with vibration, pulling forces, and compressor condensation, but still, really nice!
I have built a few bumpers with air reservoirs before. I've never run into problems with leakage or corrosion...but have never cut them apart to check either.
excellent job !!!. Great. I suppose you haven't got any drawings ?
Thinking of building something similar for my Colorado. Was it real hard to wire in and mount the air compressor? Thats my biggest concern.
beautiful bumper.......are you worried at all about water sitting in those air tanks? I didn't see a drain
👍👍👍
What lower control arms are you running?
Did you use a DPDT switch to make your lights work with two power sources as well as light the LED properly? I have mine wired this way but had to unhook the LED because it stayed lit all the time.
Fixing to start a bumper for my 2000 tracker glad you made this video it will help alot. what was the approximate weight of the bumper minus the wench? if you dont mind me askin. anyhow good looking bumper and nicely done. Have a great day.
How did you wire that light switch up to work with and without your high beams? I’m very interested in doing this as well
what is your tire size 31 ? lift and body lift ? it really looks good
thanks and no worries. Btw...you did an awesome job on that bumper that suzi is one lucky one to be yours. Any ideas for the rear?
thanks! I'm kicking around some ideas for the rear...will be sure to do a video when I build it.
@@MattVerley HI MATE I LIKE YOUR BUILT. CAN YOU BUILD AND SELL TO US ?
nice!!! Beautifully done!!!! What gauge metal did you use? Thinking about building one!!!
The Other Guy most of the bumper body is 3/16 flat plate, the winch Mount and mounting brackets are 1/4"
sewerzuk any particular type of metal?
Matt, do you have plans for this bumper you can share?
Muy bueno. l like
Hi, Are you using after market independent front suspension? What brand is that? Is that as strong as solid suspension? Thank you, Regards from Indonesia.
have you done a rear /swing spare tire gate
Cary Kane not for my Sidekick, but I'm mulling that exact project around
That is definitely amazing job. Where did you get those switches? I want something like that for my geo tracker.
You can buy them here: www.otrattw.net/home.php
Do you have any template?? I want to make it one to my vita94...
Hello my friend absolutely great bumper I would be interested in purchasing one... how do I contact you for further information I have a 91 Suzuki Sidekick JX
Nice work!
Can you give us the design plan with dimensions? Please!
Would like to see one of these kits for a Mitsubishi Mightymax.
WHAT WHEELS & size are they?!?!
Are there only 4 bolts holding the bumper to the frame?
Like the looks and it is just a matter of time before I do something similar as the front and back bumpers just do not look 4x4ish.
6 bolts; 4 on the side brackets and one on the top of each frame rail. I’ve done several full power pulls with the M8000 and there is zero movement. It’s plenty strong.
@@MattVerley Thank you , I have not ventured as far as removing the front bumper to see what lies beneath.
Hi man,can u share drawing to build diy bumper.look amazing
Hi there, can you please send me the measurements
what size tires do you run on your sidekick ?
They're metric; but measure out about 32x11.5
what kind of lift do you have on it?
that shit is dope.... do you build for sale or just for fun?
great job...wow. and a great video as well....not often do you get both. cheers
I have one sidekick (model 95) but right now, I can't do anything with him cuz I'm broke *insert sad face.
I need to find someone to build me a similar bumper!
HOW MUCH FOR YOU TO BUILD ONE FOR MY 2000 SUZUKI GRAND VITARA?
John Leonard sorry...I don't build bumpers to sell. too much time into them for me to make any money.
I have this car. Suzuki escudo...smoking a
lot..my mechanic tells me i have to replace the rings.
Великолепная работа! Вот только в россии с таким оборудованием запрещают ездить по дорогам =(
sewerzuk, are you on suzuki samurai owners 2.0 on FB?
nope
itsa good page with a ton of fun and helpful folks, if your interested. most are always willing to lend a hand/info, and love seeing/sharing rigs and projects
Hi matt, are you interest in sell my cad plans for this ? Let me know. Thanks
What thickness metal was used for the bumper ?
3/16" for most of the bumper, 1/4" for the winch mount plate
Guess u did mention it right at the very beginning just caught that.
Thats fairly thick stuff then hey. I would have thought maybe 1/16 thick, that must be heavy and bullet proof then lol. I guess if your doing some winching with it must need it fairly sturdy then.
@@MattVerley bom dia irmão como está nos estamos bem graças adeus
