This bumper you built is awesome. I tore the factory bumper off 4 weeks ago and bought a piece of 4x8 1/4" for my 77 F250. I laid it out tonight and will plasma cut it up tomorrow morning. Thanks very much for the post, it looks great and will work wicked for my pickup.
I really like how you built this thing. I just took the rear bumper and box off of my truck last night and I've been looking at different bumper styles. It's functional and it looks really good. Thanks for posting this video, I'll be copying what you've built!
"I'd rather over-kill than under-kill it any day". I have a feeling that will stick with me for a while. Rad video btw.. think I'll try something like this for my 88' econoline camper van.
Grate video. I just got my self a welder and learning now to weld. I needed it to re make my exhaust. I have a straght dump after my cat now. But I have no front bumper and been looking to make one so this looks good I'll probly grately down size it as its for a 95 jeep grand cherokee. So I like the fact it's box steel frame. Less welding for me lol. I'll probably watch this 5 maybe 20 more times as I start ha ha
Greetings. This bumper build video is great, I'm on with a similar project for front and rear bumpers on my land rover discovery - although I will be doing it the hard way with and angle grinder. Regards from England. Cheers, Mike.
I was getting some ideas on a bumper I’m gonna start fabrication on by checking out some videos n such online. I like what you’ve done there by the way, really nice work. I have a suggestion if your welds are tight (which it appears you know what you’re doing) that I done on an old truck I had. I made the bumper out of stacked tubing, stainless that connected and I incorporated a pressurized air tank out of it with adapters, drain valve. An ole timer showed me one that he had made and I thought it was a good idea many years back. Thought I’d pass it along. Great looking bumper tho.! Keep that creative mind of yours working.!
Nice build! Im drawing out some plans to build bumpers for my 07 f150, but im having a tough time trying to follow the body lines curve by the front corners and still keeping its rugged/boxy look.
I made a bumper for my cj-5 out of 2x4 3/16 wall tubing. But I cut a pie section out to taper the ends back into the body.. Now I'm making a new bumper for my fathers 1999 GMC 1 ton duelly along with a bunch of body work/mods to it...
lol I think you meant 258 Inches a minute... You said 258 Inches per second. Holy shit that would be a fast wire feeding welder hahaha Thanks for the Video I will be building a nice Bumper for my 1990 Bronco here soon!
Good Idea for a bumper. I think this one may be stronger then the ones ChuckE2009 makes, but his just have more shape to them. But great idea. Im looking to make my own right now.
Thanks great video and nice work! Don't make an air-tank out of it, compressed air also brings a ton of moisture and you'll end up with nothing but rust and corrosion on the inside oh that bumper. Ever seen the inside of an air-tank?
looks good man! the mounting tabs on the outside of the bumper, i probably wouldve rounded them off and drilled a hole through them big enough to put the clevis in. would give you just a tad more pull strength. but other than that, i like it.
Americans make things propper!? No they don't! This guys did a lovely job and a good vid... Well Done this man! But, lets not get confused between a man in his shed and the US industry! Now America's bought most of Europe's companies, they have access to our technology. Which they are only now using in their products. The bumper (fender) looks great. Well done. My only concern is, did you weld it to the chassis as well as bolt it? Just thinking with all that weight on those four bolts, it might rip off?
Matthew Wayer Good thought but I torched multiple holes in the bumper for pop in lights so it would have been more trouble than it was worth. I had an air tank in the bed already.
Half inch brackets to the frame, and 1-1/2 clevis mounts. The 1/2 tabs go all the way through the bumper, and I welded another 1" piece of metal to the 1/2 tabs and ground it smooth to get the curved look. I may post a follow up video soon of what the bumper looks like painted and with lights.
If you haven't done it yet, make a bed carrier for the tire. Don't bother with bumper mounted tire carriers, they rattle like a mofo over time, especially if the spindle or latch is too weak or poorly done.
im looking at MIG welding a bumper with a winch and bull bar for my old 3\4 ton truck, i think 1\8 inch steel should work fine. Does it sound like a good idea and do you have any pointers. Its going on a truck thatll be offroad a bunch and the cattleguard and winch would see a lot of use.
Great bumper I’d just hate to be the one to rear end that truck ! U aren’t going to have a scratch and the 1 that hits you they going to total they’re vehicle ! Lol !
You don't worry about the number being stringer than the frame? Therefore jeopardizing the frame since it would become the weak link? I'm starting a build and asking for informational purposes
I'd love to get a milling machine my wife says I have too many tools now but I just get it to play anyway I told her I'd use it for real sometimes I would need it
+thekingofcows, Im doing a report for a blueprint reading for welders class on a product that is welded. It would be awesome if I could get the name of your shop if its a business. If not, Ill just call it King of Cows. How many hours would you say went into this build and how much did the material cost? How much would you charge for the product? Any help would be much appreciated.

Nice bumper!!! What I like most about using square tube in offroad bumpers is you can tap in fittings and doubles as an air tank.
thats a good idea.... damn
Fml that’s brilliant!
You can do that with a round one too, and safer.
yep did it in the early 90s with a round bumper
THANKS FROM ENGLAND , YOU AMERICANS MAKE THINGS PROPPER, THE WORLD SHOULD TAKE NOTE

Gotta love these old Ford trucks.
Love it !! Looks awesome, and gives your truck a different look with the heavy duty tail bumper..thabkyou, good job ! God bless you..😊

Good work on making a sturdy in-shop bumper for the old ford truck of yours !!
Nicely done. As one who was raised in the oilfield, there is no such thing as overkill. lol. great job what part of miss.
Now thats a damn fine bumper, probably the strongest thing on that ol Ford!
Strong, simple, and looks good. Cant ask for much more. Thanks for sharing your process.
You have a very nicely equipped shop!
Good vid buddy, comprehensive, very easy to follow. That bumper looks really strong.
That's how you do it man. When I make my bumper I'm going to thank the day I bought my everlast plasma cutter. Great tool for projects like these.
Looks good, and gives me some ideas.
Your guys welds are very clean. Good job.
just got a ford 70 sport custom and looking for ideas, this helped alot ! nice build

Nice work. I wish I still had a plasma cutter.
Nice simple stout bumper, nice work
Great build! Some simple but greatly executed metal fab skills shown off.
instaBlaster.
great job, keep up the good work. I have a 1968 f-100, I'm going to build a rear bumper like yours for it. your truck looks great, bud.
That is sick man! Very clean install and it looks hefty as all hell.
Nice truck. Cool video. I'm minus the modest tools.
Nice. I like the simplicity.
Looking to build some bumpers for my 16' JKU.
Greetings. This bumper build video is great, I'm on with a similar project for front and rear bumpers on my land rover discovery - although I will be doing it the hard way with and angle grinder.

Cheers, Mike.
I'm glad your sleeve didn't get caught in the Mill
hmmmm. i really like this! if i werent getting a flat bed for my Ford i'd probably make one of these!
That is a great idea you should have put a hook shape so if you get stuck somewhere it'll be easy to pull you out
Nice job wish I had a shop like that
Great job, great idea to run the mounts through the bumper for recovery. Thanks P.B.
I like that bumper. I need to replace my bumper and this looks like it could be the design of the new one.
great idea for my Yj man, keep up the work and keep on welding bud
such a simple design but it looks so good!
Nice lookin truck, think you should do a front bumper build too man!!

you said, its a very simple bumper, but i think it's a great idea....thanks . for share it
You sure ain't tearing that bumper off ever again. Next will be an awesome front bumper/brush guard.
Great Job! I wish my welds turned out like that.
sweet bumper build! i hope mine turns out like that heck yea! FORD!
thats very nice work and god equipment you're working with good job and keep up with the videos like this one
Nice build! Im drawing out some plans to build bumpers for my 07 f150, but im having a tough time trying to follow the body lines curve by the front corners and still keeping its rugged/boxy look.
That is a great bumper m getting ready to do one on my truck and that have me some great ideas! Thanks for the video!

Nice strong build.
Sweet build brother!
Excellent video and A Great job.
Nice job, you've motivated me to attempt this on my Ram.
Very nice!
Hell of a job!

Great build bud!!

Luv ur truck nice ole trusty ford💯💗💗
Nice bumper build....
MAN i wish i had tools like that!

The bumper (fender) looks great. Well done.
My only concern is, did you weld it to the chassis as well as bolt it?
Just thinking with all that weight on those four bolts, it might rip off?
Why would you weld it to the frame? four bolts is plenty and I don't think I would want to cut it and reweld it every time I had to take it off
nice work bud!
I recently ripped my bumper off so I decided to take advantage of it and build a new bumper ..... could you give me any tips or warnings
You should have added a Schrader valve,so it doubles as an auxiliary air tank.
Matthew Wayer
Good thought but I torched multiple holes in the bumper for pop in lights so it would have been more trouble than it was worth. I had an air tank in the bed already.

Great job, I want one
Nice work
Good informative video.
A heavy rear bumper is good on a truck for ride quality and traction.
The metal is 4x8" .25 wall rectangular tubing, it might be a little heavy for a jeep. Brackets are 1/2".
Approximately how much does it weigh??
Where are you at in MS? I'm in memphis and I got a bronco that needs a front winch bumper with stinger guard.
If you haven't done it yet, make a bed carrier for the tire. Don't bother with bumper mounted tire carriers, they rattle like a mofo over time, especially if the spindle or latch is too weak or poorly done.
Good job.
1/4 wall, damn thata a beefy bumper!
im looking at MIG welding a bumper with a winch and bull bar for my old 3\4 ton truck, i think 1\8 inch steel should work fine. Does it sound like a good idea and do you have any pointers. Its going on a truck thatll be offroad a bunch and the cattleguard and winch would see a lot of use.
I would leave thoughs things out and put d hooks
Where did yall get the metal?
nice build
I am from ms too I have 94 f150 and I I am trying to build a front bumper for my red bull! Any advice?
Wow nice shop equipment, invest in a hydraulic shear n makem to sell. Nice
didn't think on running the frame brackets all the way threw doubling as a clevis mount
hi .. what is the thickness of sheet 3/16 or 1/4 .. thanks
Fill it with compressed air and put a outlet on it. Air tank bumper.
Great bumper I’d just hate to be the one to rear end that truck ! U aren’t going to have a scratch and the 1 that hits you they going to total they’re vehicle ! Lol !
Lol just found your front build video
is that durable enough? looks thin attached on chassis might be break
Not to shabby. :)
You don't worry about the number being stringer than the frame? Therefore jeopardizing the frame since it would become the weak link? I'm starting a build and asking for informational purposes
Where in ms are you? Im in meridian
I'd love to get a milling machine my wife says I have too many tools now but I just get it to play anyway I told her I'd use it for real sometimes I would need it
Not to sound dumb but how much did everything cost for you to build your bumpers
At least now if you get hit from behind your frame will buckle before the bumper does lol
Damn awesome
My friend wants me to use my everlast welder to make him a bumper. I now know how to go about it.
How long did it take to make start to finish?
One Saturday

did you make a front one?

Check out my video called Two Radiators. You can see the final product-the tabs were for D-Rings.
where yall at in mississippi? im in tennessee
how much that piece of 4x8 cost ya
Can you make a design like that god the front?
What do you use to cut?
