As an old fan of 70's fusion, I love the combination of fusion tropes with that dirty, driven hard-rock sound. You are right, they seem able to do anything they want and sound great at it.
Band-Maid always brings an ONSET of love, appreciation and happiness to their viewers. Why? Because they're so damn good -- good-natured, good-hearted, good-looking, and beyond good as writers, players and performers. Wow, right?! Thx, MaMe!
I highly suggest you watch the new "From Now On" (instrumental) MV on the bonus disc on the new album. It's a proper MV. And the audio on the bluray is stellar. You can hear everything - better than the CD. The song is bloody genius. But with the visual in the MV, you will feel things. I really mean it. Old rockers will feel that feelings of younger years - something you felt but lost a long time ago. Watching them, I feel like the three ladies (Kanami, MISA and Akane) have reached a certain level of higher plain of genius. It's fleeting, you may not catch it. But they are there. I was absolutely mesmerized. This band is something else. The vibe I get is not like Lovebites; I like Lovebites and they are stellar, too. No, we are not talking about some technical levels. It's something else.
From now on,,Blew my mind,im in my 60s and totally agree, they have something else, that all the bands i have seen and heard, didnt have, this band is the real deal.
With me it isn't that Band-Maid has songs that are in my old music wheelhouse, though they do have many-many there, but that once I found those they then got me to expand my own wheelhouse to match theirs and happily follow wherever that trail goes. Liking every twist and turn.
I used to think real bass players don't use a pick, but I have changed my mind because of MISA. I love how she curls the pick into her index finger when she slaps and pops. The switching is so fast, like sleight of hand. She has a very unique style all of her own, and never just holds down the bottom. As for the drummer, she has superior technique and a unique way of using that double bass. As for the lead guitar...pffffffffffffft. 🙃
When the Ladies were first formed, since Miku couldn't play MISA was tasked to help fill in the areas where Miku's guitar SHOULD have been, but because she wasn't as skilled, she wasn't. Hence MISA stepping in. Even though Miku is now one of the top 50 live rhythm guitarists currently, MISA STILL covers that area, giving Band-Maid it's unique sound.
Band Maid will make it there own and do it extremely well . Many look for a comfort place with music I find . This turns many off to bands like this . With Band Maid you only have one thing you can count on it will be very very good Great reaction / review ty Try Without Holding Back instrumental 👍👍👍👍👍

They do indeed have a backing track and are playing to a click trak. She plays a solo that is geared to the strong points of the bass, not a transplanted guitar riff. Good reactions, you gained my subscription.
The backing track and click tracks are one reason you don't get a whole lot of improv from them live. They have to stay synced and tight in the pocket to make it work
@@armynurseboy You are right, they don't do a lot of improv, but they will put in intros and other parts such as the long instrumental in Domination at Line Cube Shibuya that are unique to each performance. The creativity and ability that this shows is humbling.

The second guitar part you hear is the backing track. Miku is holding down the rhythm chucking out power chords. And yes, Onset is written with a conventional song structure, with Kanami's lines essentially playing the "vocals".

the obvious mirroring of intro and outro is only in "blooming", afaik. this instrumental piece, just like most of their material, is mainly in 4/4, but the 'pre-chorus' is in 5/4. credit to the fill beast for her uncanny dynamics and choice patterns. if this is a very pleasant showcase, 'from now on' will blow your socks off.
You're the first reactor I've seen notice that there's a backing track in this song. It's brief and tasteful and not a lead part, but it's there. It took me a while to figure it out. I could hear that Kanamincho was doing her thing, Kobato was chunking away in the rhythm, and then there's a third guitar part. Unless Saiki is offstage playing - which would be awesome but is highly doubtful - then it's a backing track.
want more of Misa's bass and the drummer Akane lets do hell for another song .. 220 bbm Manners and Black Hole .. ua-cam.com/video/iaf94nNSRGE/v-deo.html welcome to the band maid rabbit hole ..
Misa is a great bassist and getting well-deserved recognition in the west. But I wish more people looked into Misa's obvious influence Tokie, who Misa cited as the inspiration for taking up the bass. Tokie was the original bassist for Rize but quit before they blew up internationally because she was in such high demand as a studio musician she couldn't tour outside Japan. She then played for both the punk/jazz band Losalios and the super-group Ajico. Later she formed the band Unkie with downy guitarist Yutaka Aoki. Especially in her work with Losalios, you can hear Tokie's influence on Misa's style, even in the way they move on stage.
@@laughingbuddha2948 Unkie was a really good band with a lot of bad videos of their live performances. TOKIE formed it with guitarist Yutaka Aoki from the mathrock band downy and drummer Hiroshi Kido from Kenichi Asai's band Jude. It was active until 2018 when Aoki died from leukemia. Check them out: ua-cam.com/video/4IBwZvUqqi8/v-deo.html&start_radio=1 ua-cam.com/video/FjLTisTDmzw/v-deo.html
Miku is playing the Zemaitis black Ace Guitar in this video .. and her amp is the EVH amp (Eddie Van Halen) Misa on the base with a Orange amp and Kanami with the Mesa boogie amp and PRS Guitar .. pretty sure i got that correct .. Love this band .. no clue who makes Misa Bass Guitar ..
Misa's basses are supplied by Black Cloud a boutique Japanese maker. They are custom made for her. Miku is playing her Eights and Aces. Our pigeon is a wicked good poker player as well.
@@jimmack4986 I looked it up: she used Marshalls when on tour. In most early vids she's using either a Blackstar head and cabinet or the Divided by 13 amp. She didn't start using the EVH until Conqueror.
Akane smiles while she’s playing the drums… This is what I think about why, is that… because she has no fears at all to the next stroke she’s emitting, not even every moment, she’s fully confident about what she’s doing, and she knows it’s gonna happen as is and has happened as was, and will happen as will be. What makes that happen is the fact she writes all the beats on paper or the musical score thought out her musical arrangement and production stages, and finally she’s memorized all of it she’s got it in her mind. That’s SHE KNOWS WHAT SHE IS DOING NOW AND IN THE NEXT MOMENT, through out the entire song or the live, itself. Little improvisation against all that jazz this incomparable, genius drummer writes. That's it!!!
And what you said about being able to see what you’re playing if you need to. Think about the fact that when they started Miku couldn’t even play the guitar
If you like instrumentals, try B-M's new one "From now on" from their brand-new EP "Unleash". That's on another level! No video, but it doesn't need one.
Onset is the song that Madiacs usually show musicians because it's inspiring. But what if I told you that this is their 3rd best instrumental? :) "Don't be long" is the B-Side for the single Different, and "from now on" is the opening track from the new EP Unleash. In particular, "from now on" is one of the more amazing pieces of music I've heard recently. I think you'll love it. Looks like we need to get you "Freedom" (live), "Puzzle" (live and acoustic), "Daydreaming" (M/V), "Moratorium" (live), and "Real Existence" (live) to round out your older Band Maid education. Then "Warning" (M/V), "Black Hole" (live), "No God" (live), "Sense" (M/V), "Unleash" (M/V), and "Influencer" (M/V) to get you caught up with new stuff... so lots to look forward to. :) Members of the community can help you with anything not on UA-cam if you give a place to reach out to you.
Onset has a completely different vibe to their other instrumentals. I've heard many people said FNO is the true instrumental, but I can imagine Saiki's vocal over it easily while with onset, I can't. It has to be Kanami's guitar doing the melody / chorus part. I personally think all their recent instrumentals are kind of similar, although much more technical for sure.
You mentioned a few things. 1: The force Akane uses. For a perfect example of that in action. Check out the Official MV for "Secret My Lips". You can find it on their channel. And god...I felt for that snare. She was beating it like it owed her money! At certain spots the force generated was lifting her off the chair. 2: As far as blind/dark conditions. The girls actually train for that. There is footage of them practicing blindfolded.
5:04 Kanami, eyes closed, head back, playing without looking, lost in her music. One of my favorite BAND-MAID images.
pretty much what I look like when I am listening to Onset - except for the playing part of course

as you asked the height of the people from Lovebites, I found the height of Band Maid members: MISA 5'7" Akane 5'6" Saiki 5'4" Kanami 5'2" and Miku 5'1"
Since you mention Akane's preferred speed at drums, might give Manners/Black Hole a listen.
Oh great, just when I'd decided that Band-Maid's new instrumental "from now on" is their best, I get a 20 minute refutation of that view!
This is my favorite reaction of yours! I'm only sad because it means that I like the others less😃
Some great insights from you.
Kanami stearing the song and playing the vocal part were my favorites.
On a deluxe edition of the CONQUEROR cd there is a Blu-ray that features separate visual versions with a camera on an individual member for the whole song. For the songs DOMINATION, DICE and ONSET. Here's a link for ONSET. This channel has moreua-cam.com/video/oVEOlBUSzMY/v-deo.html
That's Miku's part.
🤘😎🤘
the obvious mirroring of intro and outro is only in "blooming", afaik.
this instrumental piece, just like most of their material, is mainly in 4/4, but the 'pre-chorus' is in 5/4. credit to the fill beast for her uncanny dynamics and choice patterns.
if this is a very pleasant showcase, 'from now on' will blow your socks off.
220 bbm

welcome to the band maid rabbit hole ..
Tokie played in Unkie?😲
@@laughingbuddha2948 Unkie was a really good band with a lot of bad videos of their live performances. TOKIE formed it with guitarist Yutaka Aoki from the mathrock band downy and drummer Hiroshi Kido from Kenichi Asai's band Jude. It was active until 2018 when Aoki died from leukemia. Check them out:

MISA!!! MISA!!! MISA!!! 🥃🥃🥃
There is a video out there that shows them practicing with masks on playing blindfolded.
Miku is playing the Zemaitis black Ace Guitar in this video .. and her amp is the EVH amp (Eddie Van Halen)
Misa on the base with a Orange amp and Kanami with the Mesa boogie amp and PRS Guitar .. pretty sure i got that correct ..
Love this band .. no clue who makes Misa Bass Guitar ..
Misa's basses are supplied by Black Cloud a boutique Japanese maker. They are custom made for her. Miku is playing her Eights and Aces. Our pigeon is a wicked good poker player as well.
Miku plays on an EVH now. I believe she was still using a Marshall at this point in time.....
@@armynurseboy all the video I watch of them .. never seen that amp on stage
@@jimmack4986 I looked it up: she used Marshalls when on tour. In most early vids she's using either a Blackstar head and cabinet or the Divided by 13 amp. She didn't start using the EVH until Conqueror.
MISA the barefoot Assassin got that nick for a reason ^^ well they all have their nick's for a reason XD
30 days till DC.
not quite sure why my brain keeps going there with this song but the build up reminds me sooo much of fire on high by ELO... am i the only one?
How many skins does akane go through. Damn it
Well she gets through countless banana skins!
@@Davey-Boyd hahahahaha most brilliant answer
Akane smiles while she’s playing the drums…
This is what I think about why, is that…
because she has no fears at all to the next stroke she’s emitting, not even every moment, she’s fully confident about what she’s doing, and she knows it’s gonna happen as is and has happened as was, and will happen as will be.
5/4, then 2/2, then 1/1, back to 4/4, I think
Holy Crap!!!
Mostly 4/4 with a couple bars of 5/4.
1/1, 2/2, 4/4, 🍅🍅
Oh and I think the "third guitar" you're hearing might well be Kanami, playing over a harmonizer and delay combo.
MADEcostumeでhardrockなんて、世界は?でしょうね、でも聴いてください、彼女たちはhardROCKERです。

Onset is the song that Madiacs usually show musicians because it's inspiring.
But what if I told you that this is their 3rd best instrumental? :)
"Don't be long" is the B-Side for the single Different, and "from now on" is the opening track from the new EP Unleash.

Also the instrumental version of Giovanni is absolute perfection.
Onset is the best.
The instrumental on the new ep From Now On is even better than this and that's saying something.
this song is played when Saiki has to go pee pee ..
You should react to without holding back. A much better instrumental than onset
Disagree.
@@lurkmerchant
Technical but boring.
Just like almost all of their newer music since Different.
No soul.
