I remember when I was in Great Lakes IL in 2021 for basic training for the Navy. I stayed during the entirety of the holidays, so I was there through Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. I'm glad these people were able to see their family for Christmas.
In my day, you didn't travel in a duty uniform. Either you wore a Class A uniform, or Khakis, depending on the season. Permanent Party were allowed to sign out on Leave in civilian clothes. Anyhow, we were not allowed to run around off-post in fatigue uniform.

It's just some dumb PR stunt they're making them do. I'm on holiday block leave rn for the 101st. Everyone signed out and is traveling in civilians.

we were told specifically NOT to wear our uniforms... it makes you look like your begging for thanks. wear your civis...
