    I must congratulate you on your outstanding, professional grade videos. I hope Volvo HQ in Sweden is giving you an "attaboy" on these too. I own a 2009 like yours only with black lower interior, brushed aluminum trim (instead of the wood look) and a tan headliner. Your hidden secrets are amazing. I can't believe these arein the owner's documentation. I am going to read the owners manual from beginning to end to refresh my memory with your secrets. I had no idea any of these features even existed. I have never owned a Volvo until I bought mine used 2009 from a friend last year with only 80,000 km on it. It had never seen winter until I bought it. He is the original owner and he wintered in Naples Florida. The car was stored in a heated underground condo parking lot during the Canadian winters. My XC70 is equipped the some Thule add-ons (roof boxes - Thule 612 Hyper XL in silver and black large that matches my paint and the low profile Thule Flow 606). I also have the Thule EasyFold 9032 bike rack that mounts in the hitch receiver and carries two mountain bikes. I will be posting some pictures of my configuration once the snow melts here in Toronto. All of my interior car mats including the rear cargo area are custom designed by WeatherTech. I have one set for winter and another lighter set for the warmer weather. Barry T.

    Great tip on the wiper blades. I have always popped the hood to gain access to the wipers - your way is better. My XC90 mirrors fold automatically, but sometimes they fold by themselves and you cannot get them to return to their normal position. It took me a call to Volvo to discover the "press both mirrors" buttons to get them to return to their normal position. Thanks

    I love your videos! I thought I read the manual properly, but obviously I missed some parts. The windswiper-feature is great - I was wondering about the annoying design which I didn't encounter in other cars. But this way it makes sense! The previous owner obviously also didn't know about it, as the hood already has some damage at the edge where the swipers touch it.

    Dealership wants to charge $110 plus I would have to drive 2:40 minutes round trip costing around $90 plus the wait time probably another 2-3 hours. I have the Castrol Edge oil and the filter for $50. So basically Doing the job myself saves me $150 minus my work. Still at least $100.

    Some good tips here. I'm going to try the single parking mirror tip. Having used the double parking mirror feature for years I turned it off as it took too long to reset and I like being able to use the mirror when pulling out in traffic as well as turning my head to see.
    I wouldn't call the brake lights function a safety feature though, if you are driving with your boot open there is a possibility of drawing in exhaust gases into the vehicle.
    Keep up the good work!

    I have a 2012 XC70, and just as you say, I can use the L & R buttons to lower the mirrors, or press both to fold them. I can also go into the car’s settings and indicate that I want either or both mirrors to lower automatically when the car is put in reverse, and I can also indicate that I want the side mirrors to automatically fold when I put the car in park.

      OK just checked, so late P2 S80 in SE Lux UK spec does not have either dipping side mirrors or auto window up/down enabled despite having most other stuff, still believe it's an option through VIDA/DICE though. Will update if/when I get a copy.

Is this the original setting? I would prefer left rear mirror would also move inward (towards the car) is there a way to set it?

    I just bought an 09 XC70 T6 almost identical to yours except I'm blue with your interior. I bought it as a winter beater. It has high kms(250k), but I know that's nothing for this car. Thank God I found your channel! You have helped me so much!. Glad to see you're in Manitoba too. I'm in ON.

    In addition you can access mirror fold and reversing “Dip” feature through the My XC70 interface screen in the dash.
    Later models only.
    Through this you can have mirrors dip automatically upon reverse without touching mirror buttons ever.
    Upon selecting drive they revert to previous normal position.

    The green pull for the fuel flap is really useful.... I had the light come fuel flap moduel go wrong on me and you need this to get the fuel flap open to get fuel in. The Volvo garage manager didn't know about this when mine went wrong...thanks for the tips.

    automatic mirrors, parking for many only work in the version with electrically adjustable seats

    • @lenniebruce
      @lenniebruce 7 років тому

      True, as our V60 doesn't have auto seats and it can be a pain in the ass sharing as I find the reach awkward and miss the mirror function reversing. Not a deal breaker though as the V60 is a great car!

      msw600 my XC70 and S60 R-Design is nearly fully loaded and neither have have the folding mirror from the button.. the S60 however when you park it the mirrors do auto fold in but on buttons you can’t do that.. my XC70 Volvo also only does the right side mirror down from the button not left side and no folding option.... both cars have electric seats all around and winter packages too!
      I asked the dealership they plugged into the computers and said they cannot change the parameters on my wagon and they did confirm it should be able to. However I do have a V90 and that does all these things and has those Swedish flags tugged into corners I assume means export market car.. I got it used (dealer owned) for amazing deal, $38,000 fully loaded!

    You can gently tap on accelerator to release electronic parking brakes instead of pulling the parking brakes. However, the following 3 conditions must apply to make it work: -
    1. Engine is turned on.
    2. Transmission is in D or R
    3. Seatbelt is fastened

    Did you know that you can open and close your Windows with your Key? Just hold down the unlock botton for 3-4sek and your front windows will go down, and if you hold down the lock botton your windows will go up :)

      volvosweden Hmm strange I tought every XC/V70 had that option but maybe they changed it on the export models :s Its a really nice option, Its so annoying if you forget the windows down and have to go back to the car and put in the key in the ignition and roll them up xD

    • @lenniebruce
      @lenniebruce 7 років тому +1

      It is. All my Volvos have done this and I tested my sister's VW Golf, works too. Must be software needed. My auto window wouldn't go up without keeping my finger on it. This was after a software up date. I tried re-setting it to no avail. The Volvo garage had to give it a little software patch!

    Firstly: How on earth did UA-cam come to put this in my recommends? I've been looking at XC70s in the UK in Autotrader, but I don't use Google, I use Firefox and DDG.
    Time for a VPN perhaps?
    Secondly: I had convinced myself to go for the older, simpler model, 2004-2007, 185bhp D5. Now I see how cool the newer models are... bugger!

    Owned my 2012 XC60 for 7 weeks now. I read the owner's manual but still didn't know about the manual fuel door opener. Very nice to have that redundancy. Pretty much everything you said here is in the manual though. I guess the point of the video is always read your manual!!! Mu XC60 has a settings menu where you can program the mirrors to do that every time you put it in reverse. Not sure if it will do it at the touch or l or r mirror button though. Will have to try! Would be very useful as a rideshare driver!
