this single flashback changes everything. A change so fundamental its equal has not been seen since the Davy Back fight or Skypea. Its one you did not win and possibly overlooked as you were in the moment and blind to the significant. WE SEE WHAT IS CLEARLY A GLOBE!!! 1) This literally changes everything. So think about it... has there ever been a globe seen elsewhere in the show? Do note what having a globe means about the knowledge of the people of that world. What crazy truths is said by a globe existing. Sure its not detailed... but clearly it showed about 5 or 6 celestial bodies surrounding the planet, and if you know history its style as a globe gives you something of an educated guess as to the relative time frame of those thinking up the globe. 2) In comparison; the Davy Back Fights; showed that altho not used as much these days; at some point in the past even Pirates had laws they upheld even if it was just to give a game true meaning. Like Sumo, you could at least trust the judges to not cheat lightly. There are rules for that even if its not applied to every game. Imagine if you will that Roger played this as a beginner to earn some of his crew. Probably didn't; but suppose he did. It would help explain why his crew could of grown quickly in fame and size back in the day as quickly as it did. 3) Skypea brought us focus on the moon... THEE MOON. But clearly according to the globe there might be other things near the planet in outer space terms. But not really in a clear manner because its a globe like the ole school ones where it might be arguing that the planet is at the center and all revolve around the planet... so planet stars moons its not necessarily scaled to size correctly so there could be moons missing from the sky. there could be moons sinking slowly to the surface. I hope you understand how mind blowing I found that one scene in the flashback now. I am really looking forward to seeing what the future might adress.
I love Luffy's gears because they are so unique amongst shonen transformations. They aren't something he had to unlock or become worthy of, they are techniques his fruit could always employ, he just needed to master them.
The fact that it takes over 270 episodes until the main character's first major power up is huge on its own for a shonen but Oda picked the perfect time to do it, and the fact that this wasn't even his peak, that there's a Third Gear, it just built up so much hype.
This ep along with the next imo is the single best stretch of op eps in a row. I want to live, hee back story…and everything that is to come. Hype, sadness, tears, laughs. Enies lobby has it All
Happy OP Saturday everyone! Have a great weekend! FUN FACT! We actually saw a small glimpse of Gear 2 back in Part 37 at 30:38 when Luffy did that insane gatling against one of the Franky House members! His arms turned pink! He had been thinking about doing something like this for a while!
Fun Fact that isn't told in the main story. The World Government official in the Robin Flashback with the long bright hair, the chin beard, and the red sunglasses is actually Khalifas father.
Robin’s backstory is one of the best. Enis Lobby, the build up, Aokiji and her backstory, Saul, everything building to make this the second best pre time skip arc. It gets better every arc!
Firstly, I forgot just how cool the first Gear 2 fight was. You can feel just how fast Luffy is in that form when fighting Blueno and it’s amazing Secondly, robins backstory… I actually tear up every time I see it. She’s my favorite straw hat so it’s just… so painful to watch what she’s been through
Luffys mastering of g 2 was so amazing. Taking out a terrifying threat like blueno was just amazing. But yea no..if this ain’t proof that w7 enies lobby is peak idk what is! Best arc imo stilll
Love your videos!, I cant support you monetarily sadly but I still wanted to show appreciation for your work and thanks for covering a series that I’m sure that many people loves! ❤❤❤
Not just the giants, my man; it is a quirk of One Piece that every named and notable character will have a distinct laugh. From the Pi-pi-pi of Foxy the Silver Fox, to the utterly bizarre ones of the giants.
I wouldn't quite agree with that unless you saying because everyone has a different voice they technically have a unique laugh. Because Robin, Luffy, Sanji etc all laugh in the conventional way. But there're definitely others who laugh in insanely unique ways.
@@AnimeWins Okay, true, but maybe they got the normal laughs only because they were there first, and got dibs on the normal laughs. All joking aside, this series has some impressively bizarre laughter sounds.
@@AnimeWins it's certainly not everyone but still a lot of noteworthy characters. Including Luffy. He's got the "shishishishi"-laugh. There should have been over twenty unique laughs until now. Often villains, sometimes other important chracters (e.g. the giants, Tom, Kokoro)
@@AnimeWins Currently there are like 91 unique Laughter styles and most of them are not from giants but it is true that all giants we have met seem to have an unique style (some of the Laughter styles are shared by a few characters and some got not used in the anime) The One Piece wiki has a page that shows all the Laughter styles (which you can probably safely check as it basically only has character name and the chapter the laugh first showed up)
if I'm remembering right you already had a video on the One Piece movie with the giant turtle so Fun Fact! Gear Second is actually shown at the end of that movie because the giant mecha the bad guy uses smacks down on luffy hard enough to accidentally trigger it without anyone realizing!
25:00 another thing is that ussop's lack of power and his inferiority complex was the reason he got so protective of the merry and left, and another thing is that when ever a scene like this happens, it's always luffy front and center with Zoro and Sanji walking on his two sides, how ever here it's ussop in the front with Zoro and Sanji on his two sides
One thing I do want to mention in regards to Robin is the fact that while it's not entirely true that she wants to die, her giving herself up isn't purely for the convenience of her crew. She has conflicting feelings, as she wanted to die back in Alabasta before Luffy saved her, and was even begging him not to. She felt as though her life was purposeless, in part due to her upcoming backstory that reveals how she ended up working for an evil organisation like Baroque Works. Her entire life, she's been treated as a tool for various means, and the world itself consider her a demon child. Her choice to sacrifice herself is in part to help Luffy, and also in part her inescapable past catching up to her, and Robin listening to the voices telling her that she truly doesn't deserve to live. It's a beautifully written internal and external conflict.
Oda really is a master at giving his characters childhood trauma. I thought Nami’s backstory was horrificly well-written… until I realized it had nothing on Robin’s. It really explains why she is the way she is with the Straw Hats.
DARN IT. I forgot about this flashback. I should stop trying to call how you will drop a max wins next video. Cause I keep getting it wrong for this arc! 😅
Okay, so there's two major things about the Devil Fruits here that are either incorrect or misinterpreted. First, the misinterpretation: it's not guaranteed that you'll explode if you eat 2 Devil Fruits. If you examine the full context of the scene, it comes across much more like speculation than fact. You COULD explode if you eat two. Or you could just drop dead. The whole thing is if you eat just one, you're cursed because the power takes away your ability to swim. And as far as they know, no one's been willing to risk seeing what happens if you take a second power because you might take on a second curse as well. Because who in their right mind would risk that when the odds arenyou could drop dead just as easily as you could gain power? Especially if (as far as we know) there's no way to mitigate the risk of eating two fruits? Two: you do not automatically learn the name and capabilities of Devil Fruits when you eat them. In fact, it's something the story directly contradicts later on, as we meet a character who has eaten a Devil Fruit that doesn't even know what Devil Fruits are, and thinks they just have magic powers. It's not really a spoiler, as this topic comes up almost immediately after this character's introduction. It's literally almost as abrupt as and anti-reveal as: "Oh hi, you have DF powers? No. I just have magic powers ever since that one time I ate a weird fruit." I just wanted to make it clear that this line is very much incorrect. I think it was a mistranslation or something by the localization teams. Point is, ignore this line, it's wrong.
1. The explode part might indeed be just speculation on their part but eating 2 devil fruits definitively has been researched / tried by no-named characters so that people know that eating 2 devil fruits will result in that person ceasing to be (but then again the knowledge of devil fruits is all over the place in One Piece with some places thinking they are the stuff of legends and others knowing details like eating 2 of them is not recommended :P) 2. True but counter point though, The people who ate those devil fruits not knowing what a devil fruit is thinking they suddenly have magical power somehow still use the correct naming convention for their attacks/abilities like the rest of the people who use devil fruits (I do know that there are exceptions to this but talking about those would be considered spoilers)
also, SPOILERS - - - - - - - - - - - there's a very notable character who thinks the name of his fruit is completely different from what it actually is because its real name had been hidden by the world government.
There are MAJOR spoilers for future events in there so I doubt he will for a LONG while. He has well over 200 episodes before being able to watch that.
Covering it now would spoil some major plotlines that occur in the next 5 arcs. We'll get there eventually, especially since he has covered the movies. No reason to watch it for now.

Welcome too peak
Really glad I upgraded, Imma go watch them right now this is such a great part of One Piece!!
Fun fact: Robin never used the strawhats names when travelling, she always called them by their role
I love this aspect of her character growth.
How is “long nose” a role?!
Dereshishishishi (breaks down crying in anticipation)
DERESHISHISHISHISHI
26:26 Sad trivia: this is a censor on the original scene, it was actually rocks that were thrown at her by the children in the manga
I love Luffy's gears because they are so unique amongst shonen transformations. They aren't something he had to unlock or become worthy of, they are techniques his fruit could always employ, he just needed to master them.
Omg! This whole bit with Robin laughing along with the giant was...so heart-warming TvT

this backstory never fails to absolutely destroy me... and we are not even done
The introduction of Gear 2, it feels so long ago. Because it was. I had only just been born when this episode first aired and I'm legally an adult.
You make me feel old as this is the arc where I caught up and started the weekly journey.
Gear second is SO epic ! Never get tired of this intro to it🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Getting my tissues ready for the next part
Fun Trivia from Oda's SBS q&a's, the white haired CP9 agent from the flashback is named Lasky and he is Kalifa's father
Fun Fact that isn't told in the main story. The World Government official in the Robin Flashback with the long bright hair, the chin beard, and the red sunglasses is actually Khalifas father.
31:05 fun fact a lot of people miss
Saul laugh is "Dereshishishi"
Luffy laugh is "Shishishi"
17:02 Yeah, The Very Very Very Strongest
We're getting closer and closer to a moment that will make me sob when watching it every time ahaha I'm in danger
Never in my life have I ever noticed Usopp facing the other way. I love the way you pay attention to the smallest of details.
19:38 I’m honestly so glad that it took 274 episodes before Oda made a singular fart joke.
What about Satori’s brother who used the fart dial against Nami? Was that canon or a filler in a canon arc?
@@tranatkikomi6873 I forgot about him.
14:00 one of my favourite beatdowns in one piece. Gear 2 is SO COOL
That "very good song" is
"The very very very strongest", that's the name, up there with overtaken
Robin’s backstory is one of the best. Enis Lobby, the build up, Aokiji and her backstory, Saul, everything building to make this the second best pre time skip arc. It gets better every arc!
Robin's backstory is heartbreaking and we're still not done yet...
Once more, the tomato that hit baby robin, was a rock. God I love Robin's backstory, what a beautifully tragic woman and she just needs her friends
Firstly, I forgot just how cool the first Gear 2 fight was. You can feel just how fast Luffy is in that form when fighting Blueno and it’s amazing
Secondly, robins backstory… I actually tear up every time I see it. She’s my favorite straw hat so it’s just… so painful to watch what she’s been through
20:26 Thought you were going to comment about she sounds worried/ reliefed about Luffy.
Not how hot she was. Gave me a laugh

We are finally here!!
Don't forget , Luffy also uses paper art when fighting Eneru
