On Personal Responsibility... Your words remind me of a quote from my favorite Louis L'Amour book:
“Up to a point a man’s life is shaped by environment, heredity, and changes in the world about them. Then there comes a time when it lies within their grasp to shape the clay of their life into the sort of thing they wish it to be. Only the weak blame parents, their race, their times, lack of good fortune, or the quirks of fate. Everyone has the power to say, "This I am today. That I shall be tomorrow.”"
― Louis L'Amour, The Walking Drum

Sure, it may not help to blame, but to speculate on the cause of our collective life trajectories isn't a sign of weakness, it is intelligence.

Thank you for the time and effort you put into these intellectual videos. As a young adult(21) I feel like I am standing near the passage of adulthood, but I am too afraid to walkthrough. I know what I must do but I am afraid to change because I have become conditioned to relish in the pleasures of today's society, which I think is purposely arresting my development. I feel ashamed having to go onto the internet to find out what it means to be a man because no one showed me. But I am at that age where If I do not reach out, I will only have myself to blame. I am slowly kicking my bad habits and I am blessed to have time on my side, but I am scared of the unknown. I grew up Jewish, and renounced my faith in my early teen years because I thought it only meant wasting weekends on religious services. Now that I realize there is so much more to it than that, I am opening myself up to my higher purpose and believing in myself. You're words have an affect on me, Thank you.

So, I had a lot of life altering events and trauma in my first few years on this earth. And it lead to me being a weak man( of moral character and values) masquerading as a strong man through anger; who made alot of poor decisions and choices. Now, I didn't ask for the drama and trauma, but the decision's I made as a result were mine. I own them. Now, when the LORD saved me, he saved a hot mess. So, part of my journey, has been cleaning off all the mud and muck I got on me while in that hog pen. And sir, I am greatful for men, like you, that would take the time to pour into men like me. God bless you sir!!

Been watching from just about the beginning, love the logic. You have reminded me of something I heard a host of a TV movie program say years ago , I think his name was something like ‘Joe-Bob Gibbs’ . He would always start the program with a little cowboy logic or saying. This one time he addressed ‘dysfunctional adult’. He mentioned a 36 year old that blamed all their problems on someone else and their parents. Always saying “when was young..... “ , “when I was a child...”, or “my parents never or wouldn’t......”. To that he said something like “look buttercup, your first 18 years may have been on your parents, but your last 18 are on YOU”. One person I told that to was around that age with college degrees in psychology and employed in the field is now close to 50 and still hasn’t figured it out , blaming all their problems on everyone and everything. Wyoming sounds like a much better place for a Wrangler School, best of luck (and effort) to ya.

Good stuff , I've made my share of mistakes and have paid for them , in some ways I still am . I've done all lot of things in the wrong way , I can name several people and/or situations for this but that would serve no perpous . Every wrong move I made was my own , jaded
decision , right or wrong it was done with the right intended outcome in mind . Looking back 20/20 hindsight would I do it differently ? Of course but that's not an option , so you make do with as much as you can salvage with the rest of your life . As good as it can be for now , looking forward to the best that's yet to come !

Keep on keeping on brother. Some folks seem to be triggered pretty easily, but much respect for trying to make sure folks understand your feelings and perspective. Emotions can run high especially for those that have been hurt by others.

I would like to see a video on buying land. The challenges with buying several states away and in Wyoming the potential of on grid and off grid. P.S. love the video, it resonates with me.

As someone who lives in Northern Idaho. I'm so excited about the move to Sheridan. This makes it actually possible to see myself attend someday.

Preach it brother! You spoke a mouthful then! This is what needs to be taught! No one takes responsibility anymore, they always want to throw the blame on someone else!

You couldn't have picked a better place than Sheridan, Wyoming. It's my favorite place out west. Tennessee has way too many people. I'll wait until you relocate out there. Congrats!

There are many in our country who have a victim/entitlement mentality and are pointing the finger at someone else for why they find themselves in their current shitty situation and believe the world owes them something. What I have also found after serving 20 years in the Air Force many peoples locus of control is external. Which in layman’s terms is they believe that world happens to them and there is very little if anything at all they can do to change the trajectory of their life. Where there are others who have an internal locus of control and believe they happen to the world and they for the most part determine the trajectory of their life.
That is an extremely difficult thing to change for many people because of the environment they grew up in and may still be living in so that is all they know. Not excusing it but there is reason for it. That said Dwayne I agree with your point of view and when I came to this realization in my early 30s my life changed for the better. Maybe I can’t control every aspect of my life and when unfortunate things happen I can’t control that but I get to decide how to respond or react to it. That right there was a game changer for me.
Yes I might have to choose to do something when unfortunate things happen to me (like getting passed over for a promotion that I worked my arse off for) that is the last thing I want to do in that situation but by choosing that “hard/difficult” thing (like not going to my boss or my boss’s supervisor and giving him/her a piece of my mind) I’ve decided do might be the mature/adult thing to do that ends up benefiting me in the end. I believe this is what Dwayne was getting at in his other video. For the most part our choices we make for ourselves good or bad define us. You don’t have to like it you simply have to at some point in your life come to accept it.
