Plot: Set on October 31, 2001. Edward Carnby's best friend and partner, Charles Fiske, has been found dead off the coast of Shadow Island, a mysterious island near the coast of Massachusetts. Carnby's investigation quickly leads him to Frederick Johnson, who informs him of Fiske's search for three ancient tablets with the ability to unlock an incredible and dangerous power. Johnson pleads with Carnby to take the place of Fiske and reopen the investigation in order to recover the tablets. Carnby accepts and makes it his mission to find Fiske's killer. Johnson introduces Edward to Aline Cedrac, an intelligent, young university professor. She joins Edward to recover the missing tablets and assist Professor Obed Morton, whom she believes to be her father. While flying over the coast of Shadow Island, Edward and Aline's plane comes under attack by an unknown creature. Edward and Aline both jump out of the plane and parachute to the ground, but are separated immediately. Edward lands in the dense forest just outside a manor, while Aline lands on the roof of it. Thanks to the person making this HD patch for the game and thanks to the person playing for showing it in action for al of us. However, I really WISH someone ever takes the effort of making a patch correcting the MUSIC of the game. The ONLY version of Alone in the Dark The New Nightmare with the music sounding as it should is the PlayStation version. The PS2, PC, and Dreamcast versions alike suffer from DISTORSIONED music, which unfortunately takes quality from the gameplay experience.

I wouldn't want to speak of the Dreamcast or PC versions as I haven't played it, yet - only seen them played on UA-cam. I've played on PS1 and PS2 though, and I actually prefer the PS1 version, mainly because of the superior sound and music. From what I've seen (or should I say - heard) of the Dreamcast and PC versions, the PC version sounds a bit rubbish, just like the PS2 version. The Dreamcast seems to sound OK to me, similar to the PS1 version.
My understanding is the PS1 and Dreamcast versions were worked on first, and then the other versions were just ported later on. I'm more than happy to be corrected, though.
The PC version was made by another studio. The reason for this huge difference is purely (and stupidly) technical. The whole music of the videogame was in MIDI format and used a custom sample bank with ADSR information. The studio simply didn't implement the ADSR curves so triggering raw samples.

Alone in the dark the nightmare 2001 has trophies for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 the game was updated yesterday with trophies.
Yeah, but they seems to be bugged atleast for me, the first trophy worked and the rest are simply not picked up for some reason. Played on PS5.
@@mightymartin6290You have to delete your entire save, and start a new clean save, otherwise some trophies will be bugged

@@AshPlays85 Oh, I didn't know that there was a PS2 version. I played this game on the ePSXe emulator some years ago, in 2016 if I remember correctly but the excess of puzzles made me drop it.
this game needs a remake just like Resident Evil 2 remake
The graphic improvement and quality in this HD pack is just spectacular. Unfortunately, the color saturation is way too high. The game looks way way too colorful for its original horror atmosphere. Other than that it looks superb pretty much all remaining aspects.
Even back on the PS1 the game was quite colourful. I always really liked it for that. So many horror games use mostly just grey and brown - especially nowadays. It was and is nice to see a bit of colour. I don't think the colour ruins the horror atmosphere. If anything, I think it works really well in this game.

Once i tried to play this game on my pc but the screen went black during the scene in the plane lol .
And nothing i did helped to fix it. I think it was the incompatibility of the OS.
The best alone in the dark imo but the only thing unsettling me is the insufferable dialogues between the main characters mostly by aline she's so mean dang it.
