My father got picked for Home Improvement... his deadpan delivery of Al's "I don't think so, Tim" was dead on perfect despite having never seen the show as we'd been living out of the country during its run. An ideal roll for a non-actor.
I also used to work for Disney at the same park you did, Hollywood Studios. I worked as a bellhop at the Tower of Terror from 2013-2015 which is around the time everything was closing or renovating. I would love to learn about the history of TOT, the Backlot Tour, or Streets of America. Thanks for the video!
I was Opening Team Cast Member of The American Idol Experience, and I really enjoyed this video!! And.....I learned something, which I love even more. Thanks for including it in Expedition Hollywood Studios! I'm a fan of your channel, keep um coming :)
My first visit to MGM was in 1993, and I got picked to be in the Cheers scene of Superstar Television (which was awesome because I was only 18 at the time). It was so much fun. I just wish they sold videos of the shows because I totally would have bought mine.
When I lived up in Virginia before I moved down to Florida, my family and I would go to Disney every two years: 2007, 2009, then 2011. I remember when the theater was used for the American Idol experience. Also, I love your channel, I only just started watching last month and I’m already addicted. Now whenever I go to Disney, I feel like the tour guide for my family telling them about the history of the parks😂 I remember before watching your videos, I went to Epcot and I was wondering what that big glass building was (imagination pavilion) and why it was closed off. There’s so much history in the parks
I got to experience the Frozen sing along during a cast preview so basically every cast member from Hollywood, packed into the Hyperion Theater, singing at the top of their lungs. I will never go again only because that experience was too awesome to ever replicate
Wow! This is so cool to see. I was an audio tech for the opening of Superstar Television back in 1989. What a trip to see this almost 30 years later. Thanks for posting it.
My dad got picked in August of '97 was on Golden Girls skit, and then again in August '98! he was on the Home Improvement skit and he was sooo into it, was hilarious and Unforgettable! Makes me miss the mid90s MGM...
I remember seeing the Superstar TV show when I was a kid and liking it. However, I really loved the American Idol show, it was reviting in a way watching regular guests like you sing their hearts out. I am not even a fan of singing reality shows at all, but I really liked seeing that show live, and it was always different too!
When I was like 10 yrs old my parents took me to Disney. My sister was selected to be part of the gilligans island shot and I was very jealous. I honestly forgot that this experience even though I now live in orlando and get to the parks frequently. I never realized that it was the same theater.
I always loved Superstar Television!! The show was always entertaining!!! While on my Honeymoon in Sept 1998, I made enough of a spectacle of myself to get picked to be in the show!!! I had no idea it would be ending in a few weeks. I got to play "Al" in an episode of "Home Improvement" portion of the show!!! In either 2009 or 2010, we went to see "The American Idol Experience." Caught the last show, the best of the earlier shows. One of the contestants was Robbie Rosen!! I was so excited to see him in Season 10 of American Idol!!! It would be great if Disney brought back Superstar Television!!!
I was chosen to be in the Superstar show. I was in the Three Stooges clip. I played the part of a butler to announce dinner was being served and got smacked in my face by a "pie" then I threw one out there and it "got" Curly. A little boy who was also chosen to be in the show had never seen someone get smacked by a pie. He loved it. :)
I remember seeing Superstar Television in 1996, but I always thought that was at Universal Studios because my family went there during the same trip and there was nothing Disney about the show. I actually recall being kind of bored during it and only liking the I Love Lucy part. The concept sounds cool to me as an adult and based on the comments it was beloved, so I don't know why I wasn't into it then but it was memorable at least.
Expedition Theme Park Mark (yesterworld) DisneyDan, Keven Purger (Defuntland), Rob (Rob Plays) and I’d say myself since I would like to do Disney park history on my own channel
Lol i So remember this ... Duse Totaly forgot about it till right now lmao THANK YOU SO MUCH for the fond memorys back keep up the SHWEET SHWEET WORK???
I keep binge-watching your videos, they're really fantastic! I vividly remember Superstar Television because I was nine, really into movies, and so disappointed when I didn't get picked. I had a blast anyway, it was just one of those rare shows that had the ability to really bring the entire audience of strangers together. I remember laughing & talking with all the audience members around us during each skit, it was like everyone there instantly bonded as different family members did their bits. It was very unique & memorable for that reason, I rarely encounter that quality in a live show. Do you happen to have a video about the sound effects/Foley show they had at early MGM? I can't remember what it was called but I attended it three times in that single day, I absolutely loved it & I did actually get picked for it (and eventually became a voiceover artist myself in adulthood). I seem to remember little booths with headphones as well, where you could experience all sorts of sound effects. I'd love to see anything on that particular show/pavillion. Again, great videos. You're my favorite new subscription.
My friend and I got to appear on the Golden Girls segment of Superstar Television in 1991. It was a lot of fun, but I was bummed that we never got to see our performance!
This is wild to me because I remember when I went to the 2001 Doug show. No one seems to remember it, and now I know it’s because it was so short lived. whenever I pass by it I always remember drew Carrey and Doug and American idol LoL 😂 I think I was 6-7 when I watched the Doug version and I still have a picture in front of the waiting area billboard. So nostalgic !
My wife was at Superstar Television opening week. On the next to last show she was picked to be Ethel Mertz and I was Al Borland. Then she ran around to be picked for the roll again for the last performance. They gave her the script and some of the fake chocolates. Good times!
My family has always loved the superstar television version the best. I was in bonanza, and my dad was picked twice, once for cheers and once for tonight show with Johnny Carson
I was on the Dave Letterman show portion asking him to do something educational. So he dropped a six-pack of light beer and another of regular beer off a building to see which would hit the ground first. Can't believe that was three decades ago.
I did the AI experience in 2011 and it was such a GREAT experience. Like I was selected lol. I made it to the grand finale and the whole process was just so fun. Lessons, hair, make up. The works!
The Frozen musical at California Adventure is phenomenal compared to the sing a long version, though when I saw it the Sven costume malfunctioned right when they were jumping over the cliff in the clip you showed.
when i was little i always wanted to do the american idol experience, but i was always too young. figures that right around when i actually turned the age minimum, it closed. i was so sad.
10:15 I've Might Go On The Disney Sing Along Songs Frozen Edition At The Disney Hollywood Studios In Walt Disney World Resort In Florida One Day. Thanks Mate. X
I would have love to have the super star television show to come back and be updated on current shows on ABC since disney owns ABC and have its own restaurant to it. It could be cool if that idea comes back around to celebrate the form of Tv and even movies with new special effects. Yet I dont know how that can happen cause there is no theme to movies anymore in Hollywood studios..or MGM studios as I still call it. Yet the American Idol experience was fun, and the frozen sing along can be fun. But Oh my gosh! Doug the musical just hit me in the childhood XD I loved that show! :D I thought that show was fun :) so far good video!
I am surprised that they had a Doug Live show there, I think Nostalgia Critic and Some Jerk with a Camera need to review that in the future someday. I really want to see the Nostalgia Critic's reactions and looks to laugh really hard seeing how he hates Doug by finding it to be a boring show.
I thought there was a One Saturday Morning disney show where contestants added sound effects to cartoons. and a show with Drewn Carry. it was a pilot for a new show about an under cover investigation. the visuals would cut out and the action was portrayed in sound only.
I couldn’t believe what was happening when we were all sitting in a room singing along to Frozen songs playing on a screen...there are photos of me sitting in shock next to my family lol....that was valuable shopping/eating time wasted
Wasn't there a drew carey show there before American idol? I remember visiting the park in 07 and seeing that there. I think it was called 'dangerously funny' or something?
Krandles That was in a completely different theater called the ABC Sound Studio. It was called "Sounds Dangerous" and closed in 2012, where it was replaced with Star Wars Path of the Jedi in 2014. I remember seeing the show back in '09 and as dated as it was in my opinion, I wish it wasn't subject to the Star Wars gentrification of Hollywood Studios...
Expedition Theme Park hey, I've got an idea! Why don't you do a weekly cycle. For instance: it could go the first week exp: Epcot, the next exp: HS, the next exp: extinct, the next exp: Halloween, repeat
Yeah i actually try to stick to this unless i get really interested in a extinct then i normally go ahead and push it forward. It just depends also as some videos take alot longer to make so i mix in some shorter ones with the longer.
Sophie Rios i could had sworn it was in this theatre because we went in 2006 and who wants to be a millionaire was still at Hollywood studios then when we went back on 2009 it was gone
My father got picked for Home Improvement... his deadpan delivery of Al's "I don't think so, Tim" was dead on perfect despite having never seen the show as we'd been living out of the country during its run. An ideal roll for a non-actor.
Yeah, it was such a great show that created some awesome memories
I was in the American Idol show a couple of times, it really was a blast.
Did you win? :D
Oh nice! I was actually in the park working in 2015 also. Yeah I will be doing videos on them in the future and thank you
I got picked for Superstar Television on my first WDW visit - was really cool!
I was Opening Team Cast Member of The American Idol Experience, and I really enjoyed this video!! And.....I learned something, which I love even more. Thanks for including it in Expedition Hollywood Studios! I'm a fan of your channel, keep um coming :)
Thank you so much!! I went to the cast preview of the show multiple times so im sure i would of seen you there!
My first visit to MGM was in 1993, and I got picked to be in the Cheers scene of Superstar Television (which was awesome because I was only 18 at the time). It was so much fun. I just wish they sold videos of the shows because I totally would have bought mine.
The Loss of the Doug show makes me so sad - it had such a special place in my heart
That's a pretty awesome Announcer you have there haha Thanks for letting me be apart of it! Excellent video!

You should be the tour guide! Tell them all the interesting facts
I like how the episode started with the instrumental introductory theme song for AMERICAN IDOL.
Every time we were there, that theater was shut. Finally get to see what we kept missing. Thanks!!
Must of been in the years it was empty
I LOVED THE AMERICAN IDOL EXPERIENCE!
My dad got picked in August of '97 was on Golden Girls skit, and then again in August '98! he was on the Home Improvement skit and he was sooo into it, was hilarious and Unforgettable! Makes me miss the mid90s MGM...
Totally just binged watched your videos. Great work!
Well thank you so much!! Let me know if there is anything you want to see
I would love to see a video about Circus World/Boardwalk and Baseball...the first theme park I ever went to :)
Working on it!
Worked at Disney in 1989. Remember going these on my days off as Superstar TV. Sniff SNiff..miss the old days
I remember seeing the Superstar TV show when I was a kid and liking it. I wish interactive shows still existed
I absolutely adored Doug, the cartoon
Me too, but the nick version
I was chosen to be in the Superstar show. I was in the Three Stooges clip. I played the part of a butler to announce dinner was being served and got smacked in my face by a "pie" then I threw one out there and it "got" Curly. My Grandpa and I were on the Johnny Carson show there in the summer of 89. He was an awesome Ed McMahon! I loved the interactive show.
Aw it was such a great experience that people never forget
I never had the pleasure of going to that building but will never go there now that Frozen is there
It is still a fun show... once
Expedition Theme Park still I enjoy your channel and I do hope you get more special Guest on your future videos
Thank you! Who would you like to see?
Expedition Theme Park Mark (yesterworld) DisneyDan, Keven Purger (Defuntland), Rob (Rob Plays) and I’d say myself since I would like to do Disney park history on my own channel
Cool i will check out your channel! I have not spoken to any of them really, but they have awesome content!

I keep binge-watching your videos, they're really fantastic!

Thank you so much! I have not done a video on it yet but will in the future.
My friend and I got to appear on the Golden Girls segment of Superstar Television in 1991. It was a lot of fun, but I was bummed that we never got to see our performance!
Yeah I have the same experience with the water tank on backlot tour that I never got to see
I watched the American idol experience once, but I performed in ENCORE! once as well and it was so much fun
That intro tho lmao Amazing! Loved everything about this video!
Yay thank you!
Can't wait for the backlot tour
It is gonna be a big one :D
Superstar Television was one of my greatest childhood Disney memories. I was chosen as Ben Cartwright in Bonanza
So many people have fond memories of that how that you just cant get anymore!
I've only ever managed to watch one show of the American Idol Experience, but I had fun with it :3
This is wild to me because I remember when I went to the 2001 Doug show. No one seems to remember it, and now I know it’s because it was so short lived. whenever I pass by it I always remember drew Carrey and Doug and American idol LoL 😂 I think I was 6-7 when I watched the Doug version and I still have a picture in front of the waiting area billboard. I was picked to be in superstar telivision when I was younger. It was fun and I never saw any of the other shows.
Wow, it is amazing you have all these footage. LOL
My wife was at Superstar Television opening week. On the next to last show she was picked to be Ethel Mertz and I was Al Borland. Then she ran around to be picked for the roll again for the last performance. They gave her the script and some of the fake chocolates. Good times!
Fun fact: I was in the pre-show video of The American Idol Experience.
The bits they record out front?
James Hare you’re jordan?
My family has always loved the superstar television version the best. I was in bonanza, and my dad was picked twice, once for cheers and once for tonight show with Johnny Carson
Yeah i think its a show that created alot of lasting memories for people who got to take part
I watched that frozen show a few years ago when I was like 7 it was pretty good!
Parts of it are funny
Oh so there is still shows there. Didn't know there was one last time I went there like 3-4 years ago
Congratulations on 10k subs!
Thank you sooooooooo much
In between all these this theater was also used for Star Wars Weekends for a long time
whoa that doug show i cant believe they were cool with doing blue face back then
One of my family friends won both of the rounds in the American Idol Experience, but he was above the age limit
It was LMAO Funny to see the little boy @ the beginning. It was Lucas Black most recently from NCIS NO
when i was little i always wanted to do the american idol experience, but i was always too young. figures that right around when i actually turned the age minimum, it closed. i was so sad.
Man that Doug show brings back bad memories - strangest show I ever saw at Disney
Haha such a weird idea but a pretty fun show
Amazing new intro!
Thanks!
I've been to the Frozen show. But boy I'm tired of that movie..
Get ready for frozen 2!
do Aerosmith or the original backlot tour
I will!
I’m eagerly awaiting lights motors action...
I will! I have a love/hate relationship with it though ha
Oh, thanks. I guess I was just confused. Keep up the good work!
It is okay! I will cover it in the future
Hyperspace Hoopla history...We need it, it's the Bill and Ted's of Disney.
10:15 I've Might Go On The Disney Sing Along Songs Frozen Edition At The Disney Hollywood Studios In Walt Disney World Resort In Florida One Day. Thanks Mate. X

Yeah, i wish that would happen too! thank you
I always knew it as the American Idol building.
Such a weird but cool show
Commenting while i watch YES YES LOVE DOUG IT WAS FREAKING AWESOME HAHAHAHA !!! I MISS MGM STUDIOS THATS RIGHT I SAID MGM
There’s a meet and greet outside here. My family jokes that it says “Melt Olaf” instead of “Meet Olaf”
At first I thought this was about the one in DCA. I never knew HWS had a Hyperion Theatre!
Also I would like to hear about the history of how Tower of Terror came to be! Or even Rock N Roller Coaster
I thought there was a One Saturday Morning disney show where contestants added sound effects to cartoons. and a show with Drewn Carry. it was a pilot for a new show about an under cover investigation. the visuals would cut out and the action was portrayed in sound only.
Next door to this.
I like Doug Live, even though it closed when I first got to Disney World...
Here's an attraction i used to go on as a kid that i want a video on, splash mountain
you CHANAGE THE STARD OF THIS VIDEO
I couldn’t believe what was happening when we were all sitting in a room singing along to Frozen songs playing on a screen...there are photos of me sitting in shock next to my family lol....that was valuable shopping/eating time wasted
I hope you all let it go :D
Doug Live: When IP's where in the parks, but wierd IP's nobody cared about
I remember seeing Super Star TV and Doug
do da doo doo doo doug!
Wasn't there a drew carey show there before American idol? I remember visiting the park in 07 and seeing that there. I think it was called 'dangerously funny' or something?

I was sure the Drew Carey show was in that same theatre too.
It was next door and that video is on its way!
Was called Monster Sound Show in the beginning
Funny, you can tell when most people first visited the park. I still say “Superstar Television “ just like its “MGM” Studios.
Next on expedition Hollywood studios, I think you should stay on echo lake and discuss the history of the Indiana Jones epic stunt spectacular!
Soon! :)
Expedition Theme Park also, after you've done expedition Epcot, can you do expedition Alton towers?
I hope to at some point but it won't be for a little while!
Wasn't there a sound effects thing with Drew Carey around 1997
Superstar television one is similar to me is Disney-abc's one Saturday morning block.
STUDIO BACKLOT TOUR PLEASE!!!!!
I liked the TV experience too
The Hyperion Theatre could have room for a Motion Simulator ride.
I hope not!
What was the theater that had The Who wants to be a millionaire thing?
Sophie Rios i could had sworn it was in this theatre because we went in 2006 and who wants to be a millionaire was still at Hollywood studios then when we went back on 2009 it was gone
while it was kind of cheesy, I adored the Doug show when it was around. I got picked to be Quail Kid one time, and it was so fun!
Aw that’s awesome! It was cheesy but sometimes that is the best
I remember the American idol experience
It was fun!
9:26
I LEGIT SNORTED
:D
Can we get Superstar theater back in Hollywood studios?
I was chosen to be on the Golden Girls, back in the day.
Wasn’t there another show in the theater called Sounds Dangerous?
It was next door
Monster Sound Show
Had fun at the Frozen Sing Along. Especially the air conditioning. Lol.
Best part
4:33 Who Can That Be On The Screen. X
Hey man the intro to this video essay is sub - par. You didn't even introduce the theme park, something to keep in mind for next time
The name of the theme park is the series name which is the very first thing said and A continuing series? Not sure the issue to be honest
I got picked for superstar thing when i was 5 they made me do bonanza and my grandma was the general hospital lady
Haha that’s awesome! It was such a fun show
I think Disney should replace the Frozen sing along with a version of Superstar Television but featuring iconic Disney movies
God that Frozen show was awful, it feels like a bootleg
Haha yeah
Lol so bad
10k special next?
Not sure i am gonna do one. I still haven't started the 1k series!
Expedition Theme Park it's okay if you don't. I can't wait for expedition magic kingdom!
Yeah i will start Magic Kingdom after i finish Future World so not too long to go now!
Expedition Theme Park question: how many pavilions are there in future world that you haven't done?
Errrrrm i have 3 for the land, then wonders of life which may be 2. And then one more and then future world will be coming to a end
Tower of Terror or Rockin Rollar Coster plz
I will get there! :)
OOO wee oOOO KILLER TOFUUUU
Quickly, someone get me a DeLorean, because I’m going somewhere where roads don’t exist, but traffic jams do.
1989
I was picked to bonzena, fake horse with cowboy background
I like the Frozen sing along 🤷🏻♀️
