A parallel I’ve never heard anyone mention is the fact that before Erwin’s sacrifice he was telling Levi that it would take an expert conman to lie to convince his troops to sacrifice their lives, but when it came to speaking to them he ended up telling them the truth in order to carry out his plan, but when it came to armins sacrifice he lied to eren in order to get him to go along with his plan
The way I took it was that Erwin's speech *was* a lie, at least a little. He still kinda believed it was meaningless and wanted to just go to the basement.
and to go even further with that, Erwin almost needed levi to make the call as he was not willing to give up his dream while Armin was willing to give up his life and dream undoubtedly

Erwin, Hange and Armin always get the credit for strategizing. Here, it was Jean who came up with the idea to take Reiner down and put himself in the most vulnerable spot as the decoy. He came a long way from that self-centered annoying guy to more selfless and sacrificing still annoying at times (we love him for all his faults still). 7:25 Rowan, yes, I knew you’d pick up on this musical piece again. A rendition of Counterattack Mankind or Eren Zahyo. I hope you guys do a reaction of some of the OST’s after the series is done, like react to Hiroyuki Sawano’s Project emU Attack on Titan Suite. Also in this episode we hear “Shingekinokyojin” for the first time with Armin vs Colossal Titan and next episode the only musical piece is “ThanksAT” with Levi’s final decision.

Levi taking down the Beast Titan is the best animation I have ever seen. The animators spent so many hours on that short sequence and it was worth every second.
