I think most people can tolerate P5P, but some people develop the toxicity symptoms from this product as well. I was finally healing... but then had my B6 rechecked, and was shocked to find it is even higher than it was before when i felt my worst. If i back off the beef liver i start to feel horrible again, so i tend to agree with the theory that some of us who are toxic are actually deficienct at the cellular level. Our bodies cannot effectively convert the b6 into its usable form so it accumulates in the blood. I also believe the worst symptoms were due to the synthetic B in my body. I also discovered i have an MTHFR gene mutation as well as a mutation that keeps me from properly absorbing B6. I also have hashimotos and found that many others with B6 toxicity also have it. I'm 45 and also going thru perimenopause. There may be a perfect storm for some of us of gene mutations and uncontrolled inflammation (which could be caused by any variety of things). My current course of action is to address the inflammation caused by hashimoto's and see where that leads. I just can't believe our Healthcare professionals have NO IDEA about any of this. Souns like you have another gene mutation, hypophosphatasia, or HPP. You can get gene tested but if your alkaline phosphatase is low, as indicated in your typical CMP bloodwork, you have it.
As some research sites claim, the in active form of B6 called Pyridoxine is usually in plant based food. The active B6 form is in animal based proteins. That may be why you feel better after consuming beef liver. There is an active form of B6 in the market called P5P tablets and liquids. Since you are in the UK, there is a metabolic unit at St. Thomas Hospital in London that does the blood test of P5P. It is called the nutristatis unit if you wish to google it. If you do decide to take P5P supplements then begin on a low dose and don’t do this high dosage stuff. Low dosage means 2.5 mg to 10 mg daily. I would begin at 2.5 and see if the brand you are taking is okay with your digestive system. Begin gradually and see where it takes you. Your blood test should cover, P5P, Active B12 , Homocysteine. Don't take the pyrodoxin form, which is used in most multivitamins! With that form you can get toxicity at the dose of B6 you require! And don't overdose on P5P either. And you don't need it daily.
I took 200mg of P5P total in a week and now I have paresthesias. I've been told it is aldehyde toxicity because some people have that detox blocked. That is why others are find with B6. This is horrible. I can't deal with another health problem now.

It’s very hard to hear the affected lady. But I was three times over the B6 limit from supplements. Plus I was toxic on other vitamins. Had no clue. Then my body started doing crazy things. I’ve never been the same since. I’m not sure if the toxicity messed me up or something else. But, it sucks!

Thank you. I got toxic from taking MegaMagnesium produced by Ethical Nutrients. Did not realise it contained 50mg of B6. I am hoping the TGA acts soon to drastically reduce the upper limit. I never saw the warning on my product. The levels will probably flush out within three months of stopping supplements but it will take on average two years to heal nerves damaged by peripheral neuropathy.
Unfortunately GPs get very little nutritional training. I think it is thought that all B Vitamins just pass through. Hopefully bringing attention to this current problem will raise awareness.

After thorough testing from a neurologist and being cleared of MS and ALS, I've been found to have b6 toxicity. The problem is that I do not take b6 at all in any form other than what naturally occurs in food. I'm told this is impossible but I've searched everything I've consumed for the last year and I can assure you there's no b6. Any thoughts on how I can be toxic? I have found doctors, including functional doctors to be incompetent. In fact I’ve proved it several times with facts, and they don’t like it. Serum blood tests are not very good, for instance my doctor tested my serum thiamine and it was high. However I have a thiamine deficiency. The doctor didn’t tell me I had a thiamine deficiency that was my own trials and observations. I will try to explain why serum tests for these nutrients etc are worthless. Let’s say your car won’t start, you check the battery, plenty of power, and fuel tank, the tank is full, but it still won’t start, it doesn’t make sense, it’s behaving like it’s a fuel deficiency but testing the amount of fuel in the tank shows it’s not deficient…. But here comes some common sense that bypasses doctors minds, there’s a blockage in the fuel line, or the fuel pump is faulty. Similarly having plenty or even too much of a nutrient doesn’t mean your body is actually using them. This is where metabolites can indicate what is actually being utilised. Please medical professionals, grow some intelligence…. people actually think doctors are there to help them.
Nope. I got toxic from my magnesium supplement which had very high levels of B6 included. Anything in excess is bad for the body and vitamins are no different.

If your body is unable to get rid of the access vitamins and you get a buildup you probably have an underlying problem. Being deficient in B1 is a really common problem that can cause functional deficiency meaning a high serum vitamin buildup.

The Australian government now has a warning label on pharmaceutical products which carry more than 10mg because of its links to peripheral neuropathy. It's bad stuff.

I was unadvertently taking 50mg daily, sometimes twice daily, of a magnesium supplement which contained 50mg of B6 as pyridoxine HCL. That product and others like it, even carries a warning label now from the Australian regulatory authority, the Therapeutic Goods Administration, to avoid it's use if symptoms of neuropathy develop. Any product with more than 10mg is now required to carry this warning. This stuff is TOXIC and the scientific world is slowly awakening to this knowledge.
I'm having a hard time following this. You're not delineating the difference between synthetic B6 pyridoxine hydrochloride, which is toxic, and natural B6 pyridoxal 5' phosphate. Understand that most of the vitamins in the supplement industry are synthetic vitamins, often made from toxic compounds, and that's where the side effects and toxicity are. The synthetic form of B6 is particularly awful. The rule of thumb is do some research. Understand what the body actually uses, and what's natural, and don't buy any cheap supplement labeled something. There is a protocol trying to remove the block at a website called born free dot life, but I don't know about that working. I think the problem could be microbiome damage so I got my gut microbiome sequenced from Biomesight and am taking things to fix that. I have IBS-D, so I know mine is messed up.

The B6 metabolites stays in the body for a number of days. So if you take a high dose daily, it can accumulate. One research paper recommended to take 100 mg once a week to avoid that accumulation.
In conclusion. I don't think pyrodoxin and P5P are the same. Don't take the pyrodoxin form, which is used in most multivitamins! With that form you can get toxicity at the dose of B6 you require!
And don't overdose on P5P either. And you don't need it daily.

I took 200mg of P5P total in a week and now I have paresthesias. I've been told it is aldehyde toxicity because some people have that detox blocked. That is why others are find with B6. This is horrible. I can't deal with another health problem now.

It’s very hard to hear the affected lady. But I was three times over the B6 limit from supplements. Plus I was toxic on other vitamins. Had no clue. Then my body started doing crazy things. I’ve never been the same since. I’m not sure if the toxicity messed me up or something else. But, it sucks!

Thank you. I got toxic from taking MegaMagnesium produced by Ethical Nutrients. Did not realise it contained 50mg of B6. I am hoping the TGA acts soon to drastically reduce the upper limit. I never saw the warning on my product. The levels will probably flush out within three months of stopping supplements but it will take on average two years to heal nerves damaged by peripheral neuropathy.

Unfortunately GPs get very little nutritional training. I think it is thought that all B Vitamins just pass through. Hopefully bringing attention to this current problem will raise awareness.

Both B6 deficiency and B6 excess cause the neuropathy in your feet. Need to change your diet to add more B6 foods.
After thorough testing from a neurologist and being cleared of MS and ALS, I've been found to have b6 toxicity. The problem is that I do not take b6 at all in any form other than what naturally occurs in food. I'm told this is impossible but I've searched everything I've consumed for the last year and I can assure you there's no b6. Any thoughts on how I can be toxic? My symptoms have been so severe, drs have put me on 2 rounds of steroids.

I have found doctors, including functional doctors to be incompetent. In fact I’ve proved it several times with facts, and they don’t like it.
Serum blood tests are not very good, for instance my doctor tested my serum thiamine and it was high. However I have a thiamine deficiency. The doctor didn’t tell me I had a thiamine deficiency that was my own trials and observations.
I will try to explain why serum tests for these nutrients etc are worthless. Let’s say your car won’t start, you check the battery, plenty of power, and fuel tank, the tank is full, but it still won’t start, it doesn’t make sense, it’s behaving like it’s a fuel deficiency but testing the amount of fuel in the tank shows it’s not deficient…. But here comes some common sense that bypasses doctors minds, there’s a blockage in the fuel line, or the fuel pump is faulty. Similarly having plenty or even too much of a nutrient doesn’t mean your body is actually using them. This is where metabolites can indicate what is actually being utilised.
Please medical professionals, grow some intelligence…. people actually think doctors are there to help them.

Nope. I got toxic from my magnesium supplement which had very high levels of B6 included. Anything in excess is bad for the body and vitamins are no different.
@@carokat1111I’ve been taking a methylated B-complex for years containing 50mg B6 P5P and never had any problems. If your body is unable to get rid of the access vitamins and you get a buildup you probably have an underlying problem. Being deficient in B1 is a really common problem that can cause functional deficiency meaning a high serum vitamin buildup.

No underlying health problems in my case but I was taking (unknowlingly) the most toxic form of B6, pyridoxine HCL. I was taking 50mg in my magnesium tablet. The Australian government now has a warning label on pharmaceutical products which carry more than 10mg because of its links to peripheral neuropathy. It's bad stuff.

I was unadvertently taking 50mg daily, sometimes twice daily, of a magnesium supplement which contained 50mg of B6 as pyridoxine HCL. That product and others like it, even carries a warning label now from the Australian regulatory authority, the Therapeutic Goods Administration, to avoid it's use if symptoms of neuropathy develop. Any product with more than 10mg is now required to carry this warning. This stuff is TOXIC and the scientific world is slowly awakening to this knowledge.
I'm having a hard time following this. You're not delineating the difference between synthetic B6 pyridoxine hydrochloride, which is toxic, and natural B6 pyridoxal 5' phosphate. Understand that most of the vitamins in the supplement industry are synthetic vitamins, often made from toxic compounds, and that's where the side effects and toxicity are. The synthetic form of B6 is particularly awful.
The rule of thumb is do some research. Understand what the body actually uses, and what's natural, and don't buy any cheap supplement labeled something. These companies ought to face charges for synthetic B6, pyridoxine hydrochloride (HCl).

Why do THEY make this hard? HCL is synthetic! Cheap to put in supplements PERIOD. P-5-P Is NATURAL. The body RRCOGNIZES natural. @@hawk28912 The paresthesia went away after a few weeks and I took sulfur compounds like NAC and taurine. There is a protocol trying to remove the block at a website called born free dot life, but I don't know about that working. I think the problem could be microbiome damage so I got my gut microbiome sequenced from Biomesight and am taking things to fix that. I have IBS-D, so I know mine is messed up.
