It's often misunderstood and over the years it's been ridiculed, shamed and turned into something that it is just NOT meant to be. So watching your video and seeing it for the beauty that it is and the way it's meant to be is really appreciated. I always enjoy all of your videos as well as your other channels. :)

My grandmother was sold to a tea house when she was very young, where she was in training to become a Geisha. During WWII, my grandfather, an American in the army, was sent to japan to help with rebuilding efforts after the bombings. He met my grandmother at the tea house. Two years later, he paid for her freedom and they were married. My dad was their oldest of three children. I never knew her, as she died before I was born, so I find all of this incredibly interesting. My little brother served a church mission for two years in japan (Kyoto area), and my father was lucky enough to finally go to japan at his missions end. I think it meant the world to him. Thank you so much for sharing these types of videos. They help me feel more immersed in my culture. When they came back from Japan, my parents had bought each of us kids (there are 6 of us) authentic kimonos and my brother an authentic kitana. Arigato Gozimasu, tomodachi.

Memoirs of a geisha was such a great book and movie to help give a little view of what it takes to become a geisha.

Just utterly fascinating, from the patisserie shops,to the beautiful umbrella stores to the charming and enchanting cultural icons of the Geisha and Hokan whose rarity and very existence I knew nothing of.Thank you so much for enlightening me just a little.I will now be trying to find out more about these iconoclastic people.
As for the food,Japan continues to unravel her culture one sumptuous meal at a time.

@@WarriorD13 it's a shame that horrible people are using a illness to be hatful to Asian people, and also people who look Asian, even the inuit are not safe!!! I remember people being racist to me during SARS in the early 2000s, I just Ware normal clothes back them ( I also didn't know of my inuit haratage back then ), I hope they are doing ok. I also hope the inuit are doing ok, especially those in new York who are closer to there roots ( for example those Greenlandic, Alaskan, canadain * especially those from nunavik and nunavut* ect ). Qujanaq! Kalaallisut Greenlandic for thank you! I also say think you to the Asian American community and to the people who speak out against wrongs!! Qujanarrusaq!!! Kalaallisut Greenlandic for thank you very much!!!
