I have a few tips for a first-time X100 user: always check the position of the exposure comp dial and power button when you're putting it away or taking it out. It's easy to jog them without noticing and finding yourself with a bunch of overexposed shots (for context, I've been shooting with X100 cameras since 2014 and it still happens to me). It's also good to pick up a spare battery or two if you're going out for a day of heavy shooting or video. The battery life isn't bad, but if you're used to Sony's batteries it can come as a surprise. It's also fun to set custom profiles, because that's where you can fine tune your image settings and switch between them rapidly as the mood takes you. I look forward to seeing what you shoot! ETA: get a cheap thumb grip as well. It makes a huge difference in how you handle the camera. And final tip: if you find that the image quality is disappointing when you're shooting in high-contrast daylight, set the Dynamic Range function to DR400. It raises the shadows without otherwise affecting exposure.
bro... such good tips already. already left the power on by accident a few times. I'm sorta used to checking my exp.comp. dial because of my sony rx1 and a7 series cameras which have the same issue. the newer a7 cameras have a locking ev dial which I think should be standard nowadays. but dude, will definitely take your advice, some really good ones. thanks!
oh yeah! thanks man. hope you're enjoying it. I had to work yesterday so I didn't get to take photos with it until this morning. had the flash on by accident the whole time! lol, such a fuji noob mistake. glad you got yours. happy shooting!!!
haha, do I really? I'll take that as a compliment! the recipes are by far what I love so much about the fujifilm system, even after just a week of use. I don't know why sony is not doing something like it? they're missing out quite frankly
You're correct that the tripod thread is in a different position on the previous X100 models. And yes, you're going to need an adapter for the mic jack. Actually, you'll need two, because you'll lose the first one almost immediately.
LOL,,, super pro tip with getting 2 mic jack dongles. thanks @palinode... any other tips would be great. I spent the whole night looking through the settings, then first 20 shots I took, I forgot I accidentally left the flash on. I was like, bro, really?!?
@vilacron MAN!... that's gotta sting... scratching my head why your local shop didn't order any. that's like a no brainer, they would sell a bunch right away... hope you get yours soon. do you already have a previous x100 series camera?
Hopefully you didn’t order from Best Buy Told I’d get mine today and then they tell me MAYBE BY MARCH 13 if not they will cancel my order So much for Best Buy

I was really hoping for a flip out screen. I never really liked tilt only screens. But I ordered one anyways.
I actually prefer the tilt only if compared to the flip out. But a combo tilt/flip would be even better if it didn’t bulk it up too much.

That stinks... sorry to hear that.
The sound is very muffled.
not at all? ... you either need new speakers or an ear clean ;D

I'm gonna blame it on the DJI mic 2 ;D
