Travel is a brilliant thing to do. I left the UK at age 18 and made a life in Mexico. At the end of 2023 I decided to move back to the UK and start my first ever job in the UK. Maybe it was a mid life crisis (just turned 40). I am shocked by how difficult it is to live here. Like you say, as a single person its so hard to afford housing and anything really. It feels like everyone is kind of sad and just going through a to do list. Public services are not good but are expensive and everyone is too polite to say: this is not good enough. I love the UK, the countryside is lovely and (most) people are really nice, but that just makes me feel sad because it should be better, economically and present more opportunities. In Mexico I made around the same as I was being paid at my UK job and that allowed me a good lifestyle. Anyway, I quite my job in November and flight back to Mexico is booked for March.

I still enjoy living in the UK but I have a well paid job - a lot of people are so underpaid here! Having no kids makes life so much easier honestly, means you can easily change things and you aren't tied down. You can live life for you - enjoy your trip, it will be incredible! Southeast Asia is a great place to kick it off.

I can appreciate the disillusionment you feel, it's an experience many of us encounter at some point. The monotony of an unfulfilling job, compounded by being single, can indeed make the prospect of starting afresh elsewhere seem enticing. However, it's worth contemplating the broader perspective. The UK, for all its imperfections, remains a place that countless individuals risk their lives to reach - crossing treacherous waters or enduring profound hardships in the hope of accessing opportunities, freedoms and the stability it provides. There are many privileges we often take for granted.
I hope your journey brings clarity, fulfilment, wherever it leads .

I left met policing at the end of 2023. I was miserable and working my ass off with crap pay. I then spent last year in TFL (amazing job for the same bloody pay as a police officer of 4 years) and started working on bettering myself. I did exactly what you did middle of last year. During 3 weeks I literally just unraveled who the hell I am, what I want from life and how to get there. I call it decompressing as I felt that for my whole life I have compressed all my wants and dreams and slammed them all into a closet to be someone I am not.
Totally agree with everything you had said and recognise everything you have said. Good luck with your journey.
(Stupidly I wrote all this way before finishing your video but the cage is pretty much it. Just got so excited and felt seen especially with the addition of the job background.)

Well said. Mamy people are in similar position. Problem is that in developing countries or other European countries you can fix many things. Or when it is hard there is some other things we have instead. In uk we got nothing apart from work. No weather, no house cause we cannot afford, no kids, most family members left

You go girl!!! I love your free spirit, I’m in the same situation as you but I dwell on being 31 with no kids, single and having no family I take it as extra pressure because the only one I’ll have is my own, but hearing you embrace your singleness and seeing the light in your spirit talking about the year to come is just really inspiring

What will you do with your pet cat?
I quit last year aged 32 and will most likely be leaving for Asia before I turn 34 in the summer. UK will always be home but winter/autumn/spring can be too gloomy and depressing. The infrastructure is crumbling (old trains, dirty public buildings and cracked pavements).
It's better to experience another lifestyle while we're still attractive to potential employers, while we can still easily adapt to new surroundings and still have the energy to travel. As we're still young, if we find out we don't like it abroad, we can always come back home.
For me moving to another a country is scary and takes courage, but the thought of sitting with a cup of tea in a cold dank living room in the UK as a pensioner having not seen the world at all, scares me more.
    I wish you luck! 😂

Just saw your channel and subscribed. I moved from Jamaica as a 6 year old been in the UK most of my.life. Married one child now divorced and retired recently. Mum left a house in Jamaica for us, wanted to travel unfortunately covid came. House paid for now single and really want to travel like yourself. Luckily I have a friend that we can go on adventures with once some family things gets sorted. It takes courage to do what you're doing so all the best on your journey. The UK is not what it used to be wish I had followed my dream to move to Spain or Portugal just want warmth, less stress and me time.

Hi, How have you been? First of all, I like your voice you have a strong voice Dear What are you looking for? happiness? money? just adventure? Do not forget that, life is more rewarding when share things with others. Either, normally or sometimes we find some financial comfort when we leave our zone of comfort. If you strongly believe that this adventure will bring you happiness, go ahead, yes, we must take risks if we want more than we have. Be Careful and stay safe. Thank you for the video. Why don't try for example a career in public speech? just an idea.

I'm from London Shepherd's Bush Hammersmith Ladbroke Grove area W10 W 12. By faith in God I moved to Dallas Texas USA vitamin D3 Sunny and the quality of my life has gone up substantially it's not that America is perfect but the growth an opportunity is Paramount. The point is you can do it I would always be a British national if I go back to Europe I'll end up in Italy awesome Scandinavian place. I feel safer in Texas than I do with the Drill music, stabbings and Gangs which is ironic. Not many West Indians in Texas but that's changing because everybody's moving to the south from New York City. The expense in London is ridiculous especially Notting Hill. You can do it remember what our Winrush and West African family community went through to survive in England. By the way Nigerians run Texas😂 Also H1B visas for tech stem mathematics in engineering to all my UK peeps Elon musk and Trump is saying come come come come come!!

Or sack it all in and travel the world. Took us so long to get on the property ladder and we're fortunate with that. don't yet have enough equity to switch to buy to let, but I have to question whether all this misery is worth it!

Live your adventure❤ UK is seriously bad vibes and I left too. It isn't easy but there's loads of digital nomad visas. Albania, Turkey and Georgia also worth checking out, one of those countries permits you to stay for a year.
There's also stamp duty increase in April so almost impossible to buy a property. Unsafe, crime on the rise, so many problems.
Society sees us at a certain age, those markers say we're "doomed" lmao but it's actually the best!!! Society sees women who are older as "gotten on a bit" and judges them quite harshly for it seeing them as somehow past their prime. Way to reframe it. Refreshing! You're in your element the best is yet to come! It's an empowering move for sure. Even if you return you'll have had a life changing experience and gained so much self awareness. I know myself so much better and your confidence will,🎉 taking ownership of your own life and happiness is the best feeling.
Change is amazing! I've noticed many around me are stagnant or have stagnated, their mindset too, it's scary! You definitely need to switch it up a bit to gain new perspectives, put yourself out there otherwise you never grow. Life is for living and embracing new cultures.

Only hard because I had to come to terms with not enjoying my career and the existential and self-doubt that came with months of not knowing what to do next. I reached out to my friends/network about how unsatisfied I was at my other job and was offered a remote opportunity. I am a big proponent of closed mouths don’t get fed and to not suffer in silence. Expressing my desires and not being afraid to be seen to be struggling or trying has changed my LIFE! Start with asking who you know and you’d be surprised.
