Great, You will be very impressed with the Amsoil CVT fluid 👍 Another one that will make a huge difference is the PI performance improver that's that red bottle it cleans the valves injectors carbon deposits in the combustion chamber you'll get significantly better fuel mileage. Not that I'm aware of however there are different make and models and there are mid year model changes so it could be a different transmission I would consult a Nissan expert

You'll see there's a drain and fill spot a lot of those Transmissions you use a hand pump to pump it in. Some of them you fill it from the top of the transmission with a long hose funnel it just depends on the type of transmission on this video I think that video clip got deleted by accident. I believe it's a bolt on the top of the transmission

Everyone is talking about this oil pan holding 7-9 quarts total. Where does changing the rest of the oil come into play? How often does that need to happen. It doesn't even look like anyone has a video on that - and I know the dealer doesn't change anything but what's in the pan when you pay for the CVS transmission oil change.
I notice you are draining dark red fluid from the transmission. Is that CVT fluid you are draining that is old. Or is that atf fluid that was in there previously?
I'm not sure I do know the fluids can change color over time also not all fluids will be the same color is long as they meet the specification so sometimes they can be quite a bit different colors it's best to go off the actual specification which you'll see that on the product guide here will give you everything for your year make model and engine size and you can also look up the technical data bulletin it'll show all the specifications as well. My transmission fluid looks/smells fine, 2014 Odyssey runs fine with 120K but the transmission fluid has never been serviced. I heard that with that many miles you probably shouldn't service the fluid. Thanks for these videos. What are your thoughts about that?

Most CVTs have two filters, one inside the pan and another one outside of the transmission which is hidden. This can be one of the reasons why CVTs fail. I don't know why the owner's manual doesn't mention this stuff.
Haris Dahar And the Nissan stealership says those filters are non serviceable......WHICH IS TOTAL BS!!!! The stealerships want people to burn their CVT’s so they make more money replacing them.
The CVTs are efficient, my Rogue has a 2 liter 141 HP engine but you would never guess it was just that. On the other hand I had a Chrysler LeBaron with the 3.0 and it was also 141 HP and that thing was fun to drive. I think it had 170 foot pounds of torque too. It was the same drivetrain also used in their minivans. You would never guess you would be smoked by a seemingly mundane minivan but some of them had the 2.2 liter turbo engine. Mess with one of those at a stop light and you won't see its front end ever again!!
All BS aside, how often do you need to switch out the fluid? I'm assuming the dealership I bought mine from had all the fluids updated when I bought it. (60K miles.) I'm at about 110K now.
Every 30,000 mi is ideal depending on driving conditions if you're doing all highway driving you could go a little longer but if it was my vehicle I would do it every 30

I have the 2012 special edition model that's stock turbo charged i think. I bought it from a nissan dealer in 2014 w 22k miles on it. I haven't had issues with anything really on the car. I love the way it drives, great little car especially for city parking. I am now starting to drive ALOT for work via uber. My car has 47k miles on it but now they will add up very quickly. 150-200 miles a day easy. I know nothing about cars and am paranoid now. I take it in once a year for inspection to some great people ive always known at my local midas. whatever they say i did. How can I take better care of my engine and transmission now that i'm driving alot more?

You should take a course on basic automotive maintenance offered at a jr college, it would get you into the industry and not afraid of getting dirty; you dont need to buy all the amsoil products he's selling, just buy their CVT fluid, then keep mobil 1 in your car for oil. Just keep learning how to do small jobs, buy used tools if you can, then shop over at harbor freight for everything else. Start with an oil change, progress to tune ups then to brake jobs, they arent so tough.. Best of luck!

@ I picked up a low mileage gas sipper 2015 Sentra My previous best mileage was 36 now I I’m at 41 mpg from last night 70 mile trip This is during winter in Wisconsin with 300 lbs of stuff added in the car to take up north I was lucky there was no metal flakes on either magnets too so time will tell if I can rack up miles on it without a transmission failure

I’d do a drain and fill, drive it for a few days then do another drain and fill. A “safe” way to flush it I’d say, doesn’t recirculate any particulates. I use the amsoil FE ATF in my Armada and it shifts as smooth as butter while before it would use to jerk slightly

The NS3 from the dealer must be liquid gold too. They want $20 for a quart of it. The only upside is that if you are unsure what other fluids are safe there is one known safe one anyhow. I used to own a Volkswagen and those need a specific fluid. Other people tried alternatives to it and it just never shifted the same. Their best option was VW's $24.80 a liter gold. It also gets worse on pricing for other fluids for those. Of course the pricing on OEM fluids for a lot of makes is similar. Many of them might get some of it from the same source. Pentosin supplies coolant to some OEMs (custom branded) but they also have coolants for most vehicles, one does not fit all!! No it does not!

Great question The differences are in the film strength and also the blend of modifiers and bass stock. @@Syntheticoilprotection 2011 it takes the green CVT fluid. The one i bought hasn't been serviced yet and I verified that the transmission fluid is infact green CVT fluid. What I would do with that car now is FLUSH it with that amsoil before that mixed fluid causes damage to the CVT

I have 2 Nissan Sentra SR models with the cvts. Both cars have aftermarket transmission coolers along with amsoil fluid. I change the fluid every 40k as well as both transmission fluid filters. Yes, these have 2 filters that often get over looked.

Will this Amsoil transmission fluid finish the whining noise normally comes from the transmission of Nissan car? ? Why as you speed up the RPMs are going up and the speed of the car doesn't exceed 60mph ? ? Seems there is a limp mode on your transmission.

Another one that will make a huge difference is the PI performance improver that's that red bottle it cleans the valves injectors carbon deposits in the combustion chamber you'll get significantly better fuel mileage.
Also I recommend a case of the upper cylinder lubricant that one lubricates the upper rings that doesn't get lubricated from the motor oil your car will run smoother quieter you'll also notice a significant bump in fuel mileage.

Hi, I have a nissan sentra 2012, 2L, CVT transmission. Transmission oil had never been changed. Car has 60KMiles. Should I changed the oil before starting ? Not sure whether it was done in the video, after removing drain plug, was there another plug screw to remove in the same hole ?
Not that I'm aware of however there are different make and models and there are mid year model changes so it could be a different transmission I would consult a Nissan expert

Didn’t show where you put the transmission oil.
You'll see there's a drain and fill spot a lot of those Transmissions you use a hand pump to pump it in.
Some of them you fill it from the top of the transmission with a long hose funnel it just depends on the type of transmission on this video I think that video clip got deleted by accident.

Everyone is talking about this oil pan holding 7-9 quarts total. Where does changing the rest of the oil come into play? How often does that need to happen. It doesn't even look like anyone has a video on that - and I know the dealer doesn't change anything but what's in the pan when you pay for the CVS transmission oil change.
I notice you are draining dark red fluid from the transmission. Is that CVT fluid you are draining that is old. Or is that atf fluid that was in there previously?
I'm not sure I do know the fluids can change color over time also not all fluids will be the same color is long as they meet the specification so sometimes they can be quite a bit different colors it's best to go off the actual specification which you'll see that on the product guide here will give you everything for your year make model and engine size and you can also look up the technical data bulletin it'll show all the specifications as well.

I bought 5 quarts of CVT fluid - is there a chance more than that will come out? It looks like everyone is seeing 4-5 quarts come out, with one person potentially that said they had 7 quarts. The Nissan dealer told me 5 quarts would be enough, hoping it is!

My transmission fluid looks/smells fine, 2014 Odyssey runs fine with 120K but the transmission fluid has never been serviced. I heard that with that many miles you probably shouldn't service the fluid. Thanks for these videos. What are your thoughts about that?
Hey Armando a great question yes it's always best to change your ATF fluid every 3 years 36,000 miles on a Honda if you are doing all highway driving you could go longer but I always like to do it earlier than later that way you don't have to worry about anything you keep the efficiency of the transmission faster shift smoother shifts BMS oil will make a big bump and fuel mileage it'll also run smoother it'll shift faster.
The Amsoil is 100% synthetic and it creates a much higher foam strength less frictionless heat less where.

Most CVTs have two filters, one inside the pan and another one outside of the transmission which is hidden. This can be one of the reasons why CVTs fail. I don't know why the owner's manual doesn't mention this stuff.

The CVTs are efficient, my Rogue has a 2 liter 141 HP engine but you would never guess it was just that. On the other hand I had a Chrysler LeBaron with the 3.0 and it was also 141 HP and that thing was fun to drive. I think it had 170 foot pounds of torque too. It was the same drivetrain also used in their minivans. You would never guess you would be smoked by a seemingly mundane minivan but some of them had the 2.2 liter turbo engine. Mess with one of those at a stop light and you won't see its front end ever again!!

All BS aside, how often do you need to switch out the fluid? I'm assuming the dealership I bought mine from had all the fluids updated when I bought it. (60K miles.) I'm at about 110K now.
Every 30,000 mi is ideal depending on driving conditions if you're doing all highway driving you could go a little longer but if it was my vehicle I would do it every 30

I have the 2012 special edition model that's stock turbo charged i think. I bought it from a nissan dealer in 2014 w 22k miles on it. I haven't had issues with anything really on the car. I love the way it drives, great little car especially for city parking. I am now starting to drive ALOT for work via uber. My car has 47k miles on it but now they will add up very quickly. 150-200 miles a day easy. I know nothing about cars and am paranoid now. I take it in once a year for inspection to some great people ive always known at my local midas. whatever they say i did. How can I take better care of my engine and transmission now that i'm driving alot more?
Great question I recommend changing the Amsoil Signature Series and getting the Amsoil oil filter also I would do an engine flush Amsoil makes an engine flush as well as a bottle of Pi performance improver I would also use the upper cylinder lubricant every full tank of gas Amsoil makes that as well I would also flush your coolant and put the low-toxicity biodegradable coolant in and I would also do your transmission fluid.

You should take a course on basic automotive maintenance offered at a jr college, it would get you into the industry and not afraid of getting dirty; you dont need to buy all the amsoil products he's selling, just buy their CVT fluid, then keep mobil 1 in your car for oil. Just keep learning how to do small jobs, buy used tools if you can, then shop over at harbor freight for everything else. Start with an oil change, progress to tune ups then to brake jobs, they arent so tough.. Best of luck!

yeah you'll see most of these are drain and fill transmissions so basically all you do is just drain it out of the bottom bolt and then you fill it with the top bolt some have a dipstick straw but most of them are just one fill bolt and one drain bolt kind of like a differential and then you always want to make sure you clean the magnet and that's pretty much it it's always a good idea to change it super early on this type of transmission because these vehicles the transmission is the weakest link so if you keep that fluid clean keep it running cool and you'll have a much extended life exponentially extended life of the transmission☕

I have a 2013 Pathfinder, I know the original transmission fluid is made by Idemitsu, being that this is Amsoil fluid and it might be slightly different from the one originally used, do you recommend doing a complete flush before adding this fluid or just a simple drain from the bottom will be enough?
Great question It is quite a bit better than what came in it This Amsoil is 100% synthetic and you can mix it with any other fluid as long as it meets the same specification so you can put one cordon or you can switch it all out It won't hurt anything but the more you put in and the more fluid that is Amsoil it's going to run a lot better

I’d do a drain and fill, drive it for a few days then do another drain and fill. A “safe” way to flush it I’d say, doesn’t recirculate any particulates. I use the amsoil FE ATF in my Armada and it shifts as smooth as butter while before it would use to jerk slightly

As you'll see a lot of the CVT's on the channel are all a basic drain and fill there's nothing to change just drain it fill it and they're all pretty similar they have a 3/8 drive on the Hondas and a lot of the other cars might have a bolt and you just drain and fill it from the top

The NS3 from the dealer must be liquid gold too. They want $20 for a quart of it. The only upside is that if you are unsure what other fluids are safe there is one known safe one anyhow. I used to own a Volkswagen and those need a specific fluid. Other people tried alternatives to it and it just never shifted the same. Their best option was VW's $24.80 a liter gold. It also gets worse on pricing for other fluids for those. Of course the pricing on OEM fluids for a lot of makes is similar. Many of them might get some of it from the same source. Pentosin supplies coolant to some OEMs (custom branded) but they also have coolants for most vehicles, one does not fit all!! No it does not!

It would be even messier if it is done on a windy day. Just imagine the horror of that! Just changing motor oil if there is a breeze it can redirect that stream coming from the pan.
Amsoil is as much as the dealer specified cvt oil, so why not go with the dealer fluid !
Great question The differences are in the film strength and also the blend of modifiers and bass stock.
The amsoil is 100% synthetic and it has a much higher film strength when that film separates the metal there's less friction less heat less wear on the component and the lubricant lasts longer for every 18° hotter a motor oil transmission fluid or coolant runs it oxidizes twice as quick which is called exponential breakdown.

That red fluid that initially came out of that car was not the proper fluid. It's supposed to be green!
That's probably why it wasn't shifting right😄😉😃

@@Syntheticoilprotection 2011 it takes the green CVT fluid. The one i bought hasn't been serviced yet and I verified that the transmission fluid is infact green CVT fluid. What I would do with that car now is FLUSH it with that amsoil before that mixed fluid causes damage to the CVT

That oil pan is garbage. I had the exact same one and gave it away the day I bought it. Spills tremendous amounts of oil every single time. I don’t know how they are still selling it!

did not show where the dipstick for Transmission fluid is, or where to actually add the trasmission fluid. for all we know, we have to guys dumping random fluid into a random port. this was not helpful at all. thank you for trying, you both seem very polite and courteous. just utterly unhelpful.

These transmission are complete garbage from Nissan omg.... Next time I'll buy my mom a cvt controlled Toyota or Honda... This Nissan cvt is just so high maintenance .....Such bad reviews and not very strong at all.... I personally rather have a manual tranny.....
