Yes, that is why the movie fall through with the critics from the beginning. It was a steep uphill battle for the ROBOCOP movies to gain some sort of a cult status. That is why also the TV series from 1994 never had made it over the first season due to " BAD RATINGS ". But I loved both the movie and the series from the beginning. I have seen the social criticism from the first time on That was what made ROBOCOP valuable to me
I think it's a shame that people aren't told to react to the Director's Cut. It's way more brutal and way more fun! The scene where Kenny dies goes on even longer, he's really perforated, turned into minced meat, as is the scene where Murphy is shot, Swiss cheese style! I think the picture is remastered as well.
No terminators are machines. Cyborgs from the future war design and build by machines. The AI Skynet robocop was designed and built by humans and he was human.
There was no rating system when I was a kid. I watched this with my dad when I was 8, I had NO idea about the slime scene until I was 25 or so and realized dad was covering my eyes for it!🫣 Great reaction guys!😎🍻✌️🖖
This is a great satire movie which pokes fun / points out corporate media, corporate structures, corruption & crime and touches on OCP accidentally making a product with a soul.
Get them before they get you. Another quality home game from Butler Brothers! I hope you gonna watch whole "Paul Verhoeven sci-fi trilogy!" Other two being Total Recall and Starship Troopers. Btw I was born that year :) Great year for movies too - Robocop, The Running Man, The Predator, Born to Kill... And just one little trivia: at 33:15 - those two are actually married in real life :)
I would love to do a RoboCop cosplay, down to the opening thigh compartments and sliding gun holsters, but that would be time consuming and expensive to replicate. Maybe the gun holster is wishful thinking, but the outfit would be awesome.
The gun holster never actually functioned the way we see in the film behind the scenes... to achieve the effect, a full size prop replica of Robocop's leg was made that a puppeteer could pull a lever and make the holster open on the thigh. But the suit Peter Weller is wearing doesn't actually have the holster. Movie magic. I know, disappointing. If you can fit that mechanism into a wearable cosplay, that would be amazing.
People git misconstrued that “it was Murphys, first day as a police officer….it wasn’t he transferred from the less dangerous (Metro South PD) and came to (Metro West PD) which is why the sergeant gave him the line “we work for a living down here murphy” after telling the sarge he was a transfer, and the fallowing scene he said again the place he transferred from”
... and if you listen carefully, OCP likely had a hand in his transfer because he was a candidate for the RoboCop program. They talked about transferring officers according to risk factor.
Not a noob. He already had years in service (Check the scene where Robocop is looking up Murphy). He only transferred to another precinct.@@dudermcdudeface3674
37:39 Spot on, it’s exactly what Murphy did … he took personal revenge by finishing it where it all started at the factory when they ended up getting ambushed and outnumbered, calling and waiting for back-up but was sort of their fault when they should’ve waited for extra help.
I always thought the lack of back-up was by design (They did call for back-up, we're told it wasn't available; they decided to go in anyway). When Morton pitched his program to The Old Man, he told him he already had subjects under consideration. OCP was already controlling the police department by the start of the movie. Murphy and Lewis just happened to be the pair that answered the call to go after Boddicker and his gang.
@therewasacrookedman5892 Hmm really🤔🧐, I guess there's a scene or dialog that I seemed to have missed somehow? I'll have to rewatch the whole movie again on my free time.
@@MOONPOPPERS Yeah, unfortunately 3 is bad. The first one is genius satire and dark comedy, a masterpiece of plot and theme structure, I remember seeing it with my parents and grandma on Beta or VHS in the late 80s. The second one is not as good, but fun and competent enough, I remember being excited as a kid seeing the ads for it in the newspaper and then going to see it a couple of times, then a bunch of times at home after buying a copy. The third though, I saw a bit of it on TV and just had to change the channel on it, then going back, to see the end, too bad it is NOT even close on the same level as the previous ones, a real shame.
back then as a kids we luved this movie and were lucky af they actually made some sic robo toys for us wee little shit asses. can still smell the roll of snap caps poppin.
17:08 you know there's 2 ways to find out if he remember his family or not 1 if you're paying attention when they were building him they said they're going to erase his memory 2 you could just shut up and watch the movie and find out
ROBOCOP IS HERE FREEZE ! like me
@@MOONPOPPERS got a perfect movie 🍿 for y’all to watch TMNT 2014 movie
Gran pelicula gracias por compartir saludos desde Argentina.
Nancy Allen also played in "Carrie" & "Poltergeist 3"!😉
the secretary that he asks if she could "fit him in" is the actors actual wife
So that disgusted look she gave was real and not acting.
The directors cut is actually more brutal... adds about 7 seconds more gore. Doesnt sound like much, but you'll notice it

Yes Murphy's death scene is way more brutal while being shot
Robocop 1987 is a masterpiece
they planned on him having testicles, but they kept getting pinched when he would walk

whaaaat honestly didn’t know about the directors cut but we gotta watch that bc we LOVED this movie.

What are you talking about? This movie was rated R 🤣
thank you for watching !!🤩🫶🏻
This is a great satire movie which pokes fun / points out corporate media, corporate structures, corruption & crime and touches on OCP accidentally making a product with a soul.
The Director's Cut is way more brutal!!!
😯this is the second comment who said this !! we gotta watch it
They were actually looking at Arnold for the role but the time he was way too big for the suit
You’re gonna blame him for not having enough training for getting his hand blown off and stuff? Hahaha
Young kids... seeing classic movie .... coolll!!!
😁😁👋🏼
KP has the best laugh.
RIGHT !?! teehe

Destruction of public property is Arson I think.
"They have some biggies in there"😊
Masterpiece of a movie.
truly !
I heard that Lion roar in the beginning is from a Tiger but I'm not actually sure.
16:35 he's so accurate it's like he's a robot or something
Arnold Schwarzenegger wanted to play this role but they felt he was too big for the suit they wanted to go with

@hoodoowilliams5187
It would absolutely take a master cosplay maker if the actual suit never functioned that way in the movie.
There is a guy who made a suit and it looks incredible. Search for the vids. He just goes into grocery stores and stuff wearing it.
@bryanb3352
Are there any keywords I should use in the search bar?
@@rainbowpegacornstudios the channel is Chris Bosh Props.. It's not just the suit either. He has the movement down. It's incredible.
There was a Robo TV series that came on weekly and they gave him a nicer car...a Mustang🙄 there are some newer Robocop movies.
ED 209 was defected because he had fully robotic processor, Robocop had human brain still.

Not a rook, but still a newb.
NOT his first day as a Police Officer. He kjust came from another precinct. You have missed that

The sequel is just as good! Really expands the lore and world!
Looting is theft during some kind of public disorder. Destruction during a disorder goes by various words: Riot, mayhem, etc.
I think the word she was looking for was "vandalism"
“ He shot em in the ding dong!!!”
Big Poppa Nico -2024
🤣🤣🤣
Both of you are children. I was 16 when this came out in 1987.
Great video. It never gets old watching reactions to the toxic waste crash scene! Hope you do robocop 2 reaction. Bit wacky but entertaining!
You recoginzed him - Bob Morton is also a well known face. Miguel Ferrer is known through CROSSING JORDAN and NAVY CIS L.A.
He was also the first cousin of George Clooney.
You guys were close, Arnold was the first choice to be Robocop, I think his body frame was too big for what they wanted originally.
The movie takes place in Detroit but was filmed in Houston, Texas.
That was the second one; this one was in Dallas.
Have you ever watched Project X from (1987) with Matthew Broderick and Helen Hunt or Thunderheart from (1992)? Both are great movies.
never seen those but we’ll look into them!!
“Nah I don’t like that.”
It’s okay. As you can see he doesn’t like you much either.
You should watch Eye of the Tiger staring Gary Busey.

yes.. just reading your comments made me smell it.
Commando (1985)
should we watch !?
@ oh heck yeah!! That’ll be awesome 😎
This movie might have been filmed in 1987 but it was shoot to look as if its in the future of Cyberpunk Detroit 2077.
definitely predicted the downfall of Detroit. When does OCP take over?
@bryanb3352 Lol 😅 Did I ? But Good question when does this OCP takeover? I have no idea since I don't live there, I was talking in general aspect.
U right u are negative 35
Guys, watch Bible, it is not a movie actually, it is a book, made of paper you know. So why not. It is too old thou, but so what!

Actually Arson is deliberately setting fire to a property.
