- Chinese Taipei and Curacao played in the International Championship Game in the 2023 Little League World Series. The winner would advance to the LLWS Championship Game against the USA Champion on Sunday at 3pm, while the loser would play in the 3rd place game on Sunday at 11AM.

One of my favorite accomplishments is revolutionizing the way sports channels create thumbnails. I've adopted two different styles, one with logos on the left and a game snapshot on the right, and the other with the logos in the middle and game snapshots representing both teams on either side.
I have a combined 4 years of experience as a Baseball & Basketball Play by Play announcer, which is where I learned my skills for commentary/breakdowns.

@@christenprohuh? There are numerous strong American teams - you must have not watched that much of them. Plus these aren’t the best American players as they don’t even play little league anymore(they all play travel ball)

@@brianmeen2158I thought this same thing, but apparently the majority of these all star teams in the US that make it to the LLWS are just travel ball teams that decided to enter a little league as a team. They know they’ll make up 90% of the all star team. Like the Lappe kid from California is one of the best players in the country per Perfect Game.

Curaçao winning despite all odds is actually amazing. A team that will truly fight all the way to the end.
Good job to the players, but terrible job by the organizers. A double elimination should mean Curacao needs to win twice from the lower bracket. Right now, there is a tie: both Curacao and TW are tied at 1 loss each.

To be honest a double elimination tournament should require the loser's bracket winner to win 2x against the winner's bracket winner.

This has always driven me nuts about the LLWS
Although it does seem more fair that way the winning team already gets a pitching advantage by having way more days of rest while the losers bracket team has to play 4 days in a row also it ruins the dramatics of game 1 because of the off chance that it goes to a game 2
@@orangepicklepitching advantage at that age doesn't matter. The winners final almost favours the loser bracket because they get to play more game and see more pitches and stay in rhythm

@@tvpunk You're right. According to CBS Curaçao, the official registered population as of January 1, 2023, was 148,925. But the CBS also stated that the population size is larger due to the large number of undocumented people in Curaçao. E.g., the undocumented Venezuelan alone may be around 20,000. So I did a rough estimate on the basis of CBS and other sources I knew of. But you are right in that I may have to use the official numbers. I will change it to avoid confusion. Thanks!

Go Curacao ! I used to vacation there as a kid, and it is great place.
In the end, good hitting and preparation won the game. You could tell those kids practiced on 80mph pitches.

look ya'll.. the level of talent the kids have today at 12 compared to when I was that age is astronomical. it's incredible how brilliant and solid these kids play baseball today. absolutely incredible.

Well the thing with little leaguers is that when they get nervous they make mistakes... Unlike big leagues most of the runs scored are from walks and errors..
Saw the game on live TV... Mr. Fan did cry at the end of the game like a 12-year-old.
Hats off to curaçao they obviously have a lot of talented ball players and back to back little league championships is a amazing accomplishment.

It's unfair that the winner of the winner's bracket only has one opportunity, while the loser's bracket winner has two chances.
The winner bracket can save their best pitchers. In this case the winner chinese tapei decided to save their best pitcher dor the llws finals. Only bringing the pitcher in late. They underestimated, that’s why they lost.

Congrats to Pabao LL from Curaçao. This is now this LL fifth international championship title (2004, 2005, 2019, 2022, and 2023). They’ve only won one world championship but I believe they can pull off another tomorrow.

Wow, Chinese Taipei had played flawlessly the whole time. Ended up showing they are "human" in the end. They looked like they were gonna blow through the tournament like Hawaii did last year.

Double elimination is road to the finals but final has to be one game, we had to beat Mexico to get there, Chinese Taipei beated everyone so if you can avoid double elimination is better, they needed to win 9-1 today not the other game
@@jdljnsnh5137that’s never how it works in any double elimination tournament finals or not doesn’t matter. The tournament is always double elimination. There usually is and should be no special rules for the finals. Every tournament I played as a kid was like that
He is right every double elimination tournament is always double even if the team gets to the finals undefeated. Llws only place I've ever seen it done 1 and done for finals.

Imo they should reset the pitch counts/rest rules (so every pitcher is eligible for 85) for the final and then play a second game if the team from losers side wins, because that's how a double elimination tournament works, not that you get an advantage because your pitchers can still pitch in exchange for it being 1 and done for you if you're undefeated. Anyway congrats to Curacao, I hope they win since they were so close last year
I mean but the pitchers arm could get fried without the 85 pitch count. A lot of the good pitchers in the past who pitched 6 or 9 innings straight didn’t do much afterwards

I really do not like the elimination rules. AP won 9-1 vs this team and was undefeated. Then lose 2-0 and are immediately eliminated. Why not have a tie breaker? That would be fair. Same thing could happen to Texas as well.

Everything has its own rules thats just how it is, to be good you have to win the Championships. You can have as much wins as you like but still lose the Championship to a team with some losses

Curaçao has been great for a few years now. But it still should be a true "double elimination" tournament.
Definitely thought Chinese Taipei was the favorite to win the whole thing and the matchup I thought would be the final Texas vs Chinese Taipei is now the 3rd place game! Chinese Taipei caved in a couple big moments and Curacao powered through, credit to them.
