Define worst, do you mean poorly written or most depressing? Cause if you mean poorly written then just know Stephen king praised that ending claiming he wished he thought of it
@@High_rise12 Both cause I'm sure there could have been other options for the main character than to kill his whole family and depressing cause he killed his whole family.
Really glad to see both I Am Legend and Planet Of The Apes on here. Two movies that I thoroughly enjoyed for the first 95%...before the last 5% just pissed me off and ruined the entire thing for me.
I can imagine Superman getting a disapproving look or chastising from Jor-El’s ghost after the time-reversing ending of the Man of Steel’s 1978 outing. Saving someone you weren’t meant to can have dire outcomes for the present or future.
I Am Legend should have stuck with the original ending that followed the novel like Vincent Price's version did. It has much more of an emotional impact for the audience, and raises philosophical questions, which was the point. I think it's silly to expect logic and reason from comic book movies. In comics, death is almost never permanent, and suspension of disbelief for the sake of fun action is necessary.
I didn’t care for this movie but it’s worth a mention; Pinocchio’s Revenge. After he’s knocked out from a fight, he turns into a real boy and lives. I’m like What is This?
Source Code: He didnt take over someones body. That is just another "alternate reality" where he was always the teacher with more or less, reincarnated past. Law Abiding Citizen: Why is this considered "Worst" it just bad, but Ok.
How can you forget about The Mist the fact that the dad shoots his own child and all of the other survivors while they were moments away from being saved by the military and the dad just sits on his knees screaming in horror for what he has done
I was in college when the third Matrix came out, and my roommate and I spent some of the very little money we had to go see it. When the end credits starting rolling, we literally looked at each other and both said "That's _IT?!"_ We wished we had been able to get our money back.
The twilight ending was the ONLY WAY to make that movie exciting. The final book is literally just dialogue, so having them show Alice’s vision added SOMETHING to the movie. It was awesome.
Its pretty simple. If they let clyde finish his plan, it would infer killing people for revenge is ok. In this day in age, you have to put warnings on everything because people will sue because the coffee is too hot. Humanity is dumb, and too many believe everything they see.
@@anthonyfaccaro7118 and then there's you, proving your own point with how you clearly don't know anything about the situation you're talking about. The hot coffee incident happened because the woman received 3rd burns from coffee that was being kept hotter than safety standards allow. The woman sued to have her medical bills covered because she had to spend time in the hospital and the judge is the one who decided to award her a high amount of money to send a message, and it was McDonald's, they can afford it. You really gonna side with McDonald's over an old lady who lost skin on her thighs from coffee that was being kept at 180 degrees? She wasn't being stupid, they were being irresponsible, and she wanted them to take responsibility.
i think Jamie Foxx may have had something to do with Law Abiding Citizen's original ending where Clyde does succeed but Foxx probably didn't like how his character was always outsmarted and didn't come out on top at the end. so he had it changed to where his character finally got one over on Clyde when it mattered the most. Foxx was on top and the hottest actor in Hollywood at the time and when actors are in that position they have a lot of pull and say with their characters and the movies they're involved in.
I still liked the ending in Wonder Woman, and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and Superman, and Revenge of the Fallen And the 2001 Planet of the Apes ending does look cool in my opinion, even if it doesn't make sense.
I sat through "I am legend" thinking "Hey thats pretty good". Then the mom with her child came in, and it was just soooo bad, worse he sacrificed himself for them. More eyeroll was not possoble
I haven't seen most of these movies. I Am Legend I will say the ending wasn't wonderful, but it didn't ruin the movie for me, I still like it. I will not argue with The Devil Inside.....That is the most disappointing ending to a horror film I have ever seen, and I have seen a LOT of horror.
The book ending for Twilight had the Olympic coven and the Volturi have a chit-chat, then go their separate ways. I would say the movie ending is much better than that.
11:27 While I agree the superman turn back time thing is dumb. People do not interpret the scene correctly. What is supposed to be happening is that he is flying faster than light (impossible) and the from his perspective the Earth is rotating backwards. It is STILL dumb as hell
Worst ending for me in recent years was M Night Shyamalan's Glass. Everybody kills each other at end to have the head nurse reveal herself to be part of an organization to rid the world of "supers". Its a quick "oh by the way" ending in the last 5 minutes and doesnt really get much elaboration. I was it in theaters and as the credits rolled. I exclaimed "WHAT A SHIT ENDING! IM SO PISSED."😂😂
This video seemed really familiar to me somehow, and now I've realized, they reused their old "Worst Movie Endings" video from three years ago and just added 10 new. lol
Technically at a physical level Xavier was killed. He just transfer his mind to a person in a coma keeping his mind alive. It was actually foreshadow earlier in the movie when Xavier was showing young mutants a news on a comatose man and question them on hypothesis what would happen if he transfer his mind to the coma man. My guess is the Apocalypse battle did happen in the original timeline leading to Xavier’s baldness just differently from X-men apocalypse but Xavier of course still survived it and picked up the trick of transferring minds from Apocalypse. The fact Xavier did it to a man in a coma made it more humane because most likely that man was brain dead and his spirit had moved on as I doubt Xavier would do it to someone who still had a chance of waking from a coma
I also think he only can do that as long as whatever is killing him isn’t in the brain allowing him to transfer his mind. If it was in his brain which is focus point of his mutant powers he’s not able to transfer his mind. Thus why he was dying in the Logan movie where Wolverine meets his clone/daughter
13:55 why bad guys do things? 13:59 that's your personal problem. He passed through grief and decided to help people again. Problem was X-Men sneak peak in mid-credits, making you thing it'd be a cross-over
I know that TASM 2 isn’t a great film but in my opinion, its ending is actually one of the better parts of that movie. Having the little kid stand in spidey’s place not only shows the impact that he has on the city but it also shows Peter as a character that even though he made a major mistake that cost the life of the woman he loved, people still believe in him. That’s the beauty of the character. He gets beaten down to his lowest low but always finds the courage to put the mask back on and persevere. Call it cheesy if you want but I personally think it’s a fitting ending for that film.
To be fair with Superman, he didn't actually reverse the rotation of the Earth. Supes simply flew around the Earth so fast that he wound up flying backwards through time. The image of the Earth rotating backwards was simply a trope at the time to indicate that time was reversing itself.
A.I. - ARE YOU SERIOUS????? Even though ever-the-prude Spielberg shied away from the dark sexualized elements that Kubrick had in mind for Rouge City, I thought the whole film was excellent. But it was the ending that really hit me hard -- I was bawling my head off. And I was not alone in that response. Andrew Sarris, Jonathan Rosenbaum and Armond White, three of the most captious critics of all time, were also deeply moved by the ending, Sarris writing that it "soars beyond happy or unhappy to a different realm of feeling entirely."
One of my most hated endings would have to be from the 1998 Denzel Washington movie fallen. The movie has an interesting premise and an amazing cast but the ending just totally ruins the whole movie
8:30 - 9:04 - 9:13 - 9:21 - 9:22 20 years Later Seed of Chucky is The Worst Sequel Ever Made!!! 9:42 Grease Is A Fun Film 10:16 but the Ending was Just just Corny and Silly.
All those questions you say you were left with at the end of The Matrix Revolutions are explained. Q: What about the people still plugged in? A: They're still there and their memories likely wiped. Q: How long will the truce last? A: As long as possible? Q: What about people who want to leave? A: The Architect literally says they will be freed. Q: What does the Oracle mean that we'll see Neo again? A: The One exists in every form of The Matrix, everytime it is reset, he exists, there where 5 "Ones" before Neo and there will be more in the future.
Couple of things... First, Superman doesn't cause the Earth to rotate backwards, or even slow down for that matter. It is the reversal of the flow of time, _not_ the reversal of the Earth's actual angular momentum, that results in the Earth appearing to start spinning clockwise, and then counterclockwise again. This may come across as a pedantic gripe, and ostensibly even a distinction without a difference, but it's not. There's a definite physical difference, which means that, during the time-reversal scene, from beginning to end, the Earth's rotational speed not only never stops or reverses, it never actually changes at all. Second, you have _gotta_ be kidding about Twilight: Breaking Dawn 2. A tiny bit of context for anyone unfamiliar with the work: in the book, at the end of the last chapter in the last book, the Cullens and Friends gather in a field to prepare for battle in a confrontation with the Volturi, a sort of ruling class vampire aristocracy. The two groups approach each other, meet in the middle, and then converse for a little while. Ultimately, a bunch of misunderstandings and hostility between them are cleared up, and they all reach an agreement and then peacefully go their separate ways. And that's the end, both of the meeting and the story. In the _movie,_ everything proceeds pretty much in line with the book, up through and until the two groups meet in the middle of the snowy field. At this point, rather than both groups parting amicably and going their separate ways, instead, a fair bit of posturing and a whole lot of stubbornness on the part of Aro, the leader of the Volturi, leads the two groups into a battle to the death. The fight scene is absolutely exhilarating, both on its own merits, as well as in comparison to the content of the previous four movies, most of which, although not entirely devoid of action, does tend to be a bit slow. For anyone who hasn't seen the movies yet, I don't really _have_ to go into a whole lot of further detail. Suffice it to say, the way the entire confrontation is laid out and then all tied up is simply brilliant in the way it subverts expectation. Here's the thing, though: having never read any of the books, I had zero expectations, and no way whatsoever to predict just how the ending was going to unfold. And, because of the specific way the battle works out in the end, I had the fortune of being surprised _twice._ Perhaps most impressively, and again because of the way the fight unfolds from beginning to end, even (or should I say _especially)_ people who have read the books and know how the series ends wind up not merely just as surprised as someone completely unfamiliar with the story, but surprised _twice_. I'm not a _huge_ fan of the Twilight series. I've never read the books, but I've seen the movies a couple times each, and I find them moderately entertaining. The final battle between the Cullens and the Volturi, though, _that_ was just flat-out _awesome._ The single best scene in the entire series of films.
Law Abiding Citizen could’ve been just a bit better if there was more emphasis on Nick’s Tie in the very last scene , when he’s at his daughters performance. Earlier in the movie the mole told Nick and the other guy that Clyde could kill people in the most innovative ways even using a tie with a ratchet system that would strangulate the wearer …
This list is absurd. These are not the worst movie ending OF ALL TIME. Are some of these possibly the worst movie endings of big budget theatrically released movies? Sure but there are dozens of direct-to-video movies with horrific endings and most, if not, all of them would be on a list of 30 worst movie endings OF ALL TIME.
In Transformers, optiumus died first and then Sam barely survived his injury. Killing Sam would of been a terrible choice to go with. Y'all are reaching.
I have no problem with the ending of grease. I was never confused by it. Also, I love the crystal skull I thought it was a brilliant movie. A great mixture of adventure and sci-fi. Also The Superman movie has never confused me. It’s something that he did and was able to do because he was Superb
Slight correction: Magneto's "telekenesis" only works on metal, hence his name. It's kinda something of a magnetic telekenesis. A "Magnokenesis" if you prefer.
Superman didn't literally reverse the earth's rotation. it's a dramatic visualization of him rewinding time/going back in time but i can see how people could confuse it with the former. and for Grease's ending it's a dramatic and whimsical visualization of Danny and Sandy driving off into the sunset. people literally need to stop taking things so literal and at face value with artistic expression
I’ve not seen Savages, The Midnight Sky, Safe Haven, Forces Of Nature, The Forgotten, Saw 3D, Serenity, Cats, Law Abiding Citizen and The Devil Inside.
It feels like whoever put this together doesn't understand comic books or the expectation of those movies. I loved Now You See Me, but hated the second one.
The line in War Of The Worlds about "God in His wisdom" creating germs doesn't come from H G Wells, who was a secular humanist. It was illegitimately inserted by the makers of the first film.
I thought Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin has the worst ending. The other six are good on its own but the last one, not so much. It’s nothing like the six movies in the franchise
I was really disappointed with the ending of Law Abiding Citizen. Obviously Butlers character wasn't the hero, yet it would have been great to see a lawyer who only worries about "wins" get his comeuppance.
@@hra_Najimi99 I thought the ending was the only bit that Spielberg *did* direct - or is that a common misconception? My understanding was that Kubrik directed everything until David went into the water, then Spielberg added the aliens.
I disagree with you on Law Abiding Citizen. I think the main character got what he wanted. He wanted Jamie Fox to go above the law and handle a clear and present threat. The whole point of everything was to teach him a lesson
I think X3 would have been fine for an ending if the franchise had ended there. In regards to Twilight, as bad as the movie was and as disappointing as the fight being just a vision was, would you rather have not had the fight scene at all and had the climax be just everyone talking? If you consider the ending of Cats the movie bad, the you have to consider the end of the stage play bad too (the entirety of both were bad). The Matrix 3 had a fine ending, as yes, there was explanations for all those questions, you just weren't paying attentions. War Of The Worlds ending wasn't bad because of how the aliens died, it was the son surviving. I Am Legend's ending was fine, and for the direction the movie's plot took made the most sense instead of the novel's ending since the Darkseeker WERE rabid monsters as opposed to the intelligent ones from the novel.

Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! I think "No Country for Old Men (2007)" also had the worst ending as well. The bad guy got away. 🥶
YES! I had a good feeling that The Devil Inside was going to be number one on this list.
In my head, I’m saying if The Devil Inside isn’t going to be on this list, I’m going to be pissed but I’m very happy that I’m not
The ending to ''The Mist'' was one of the worst endings in my opinion
Finally someone who share the same opinion as me!
@@CandiceVidito I have never seen that one at all. What whould you give it as a movie rating out of 10?
@@Reaperguy67 I'd give it a 7 out of 10
Really glad to see both I Am Legend and Planet Of The Apes on here.
Castaway had a horrendous final act. It immediately came to mind when I saw this in my feed.
Still waiting for Top 100 Greatest Movie Heroes
"Serenity" has to be the most ridiculous ending ever. Who greenlit the script, thinking that it was even remotely plausible?
That whole movie was insulting. The ending was just the icing on a horrible cake
I know. What a great time at the movies. A genuine wild ride of goofy unserious fun.
I was in college when the third Matrix came out, and my roommate and I spent some of the very little money we had to go see it. When the end credits starting rolling, we literally looked at each other and both said "That's _IT?!"_
We wished we had been able to get our money back.
The twilight ending was the ONLY WAY to make that movie exciting. The final book is literally just dialogue, so having them show Alice’s vision added SOMETHING to the movie. It was awesome.
Clyde should have survived Law Abiding Citizen and Nick should have croaked. Change my mind
Nick should have lived but walked a straight line the rest of his career knowing Clyde was still out there.
The way I hated the ending of Law Abiding Citizen. I wanted Clyde to get his revenge.
I’m glad everyone in the comments is in agreement about these list
Very much The Devil Inside. When I watched it for the first time, I’m like What the F*** Was That? Are you kidding me?
I still liked the ending in Wonder Woman, and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and Superman, and Revenge of the Fallen
And the 2001 Planet of the Apes ending does look cool in my opinion, even if it doesn't make sense.
This video seemed really familiar to me somehow, and now I've realized, they reused their old "Worst Movie Endings" video from three years ago and just added 10 new.
lol
So that's why the sound mixing is all over the place?? Wow.
I can forgive the last bit of Wonder Woman, it's still a great movie. Some of the other movies I can forgive the ending also.
12:59 it's not the first time prime was killed by the Cinema 13:19 Wrong!
@WatchMojo, please repeat after me: What WE don't particulary like or find disappointing, doesn't make it THE WORST
Well the reference to Magneto's "telekinesis" makes you wonder if they even watched the movies...
Problem was X-Men sneak peak in mid-credits, making you thing it'd be a cross-over
dark knight rises ending had me saying YAY BATMAN DIED!!! but then OH FUCK YOU HE"S STILL ALIVE!!!
If Jamie Foxx really did what he did law abiding citizen he would be charged with murder
So we're suspending our disbelief for the whole movie, but drawing the line here?
Serenity is a masterpiece, take it back.
Never believed the car flew at the end of Grease. Always saw it as a daydream.

I Absolutely Agree With Law Abiding Citizen! Clyde Didn't Deserve To Die.
Why does every critic have to $hit on The Village?
It's a good ending... not mindblowing, but makes me think when i watched the first time.
Because it sucks and it's a complete waste of time
Law Abiding Citizen could’ve been just a bit better if there was more emphasis on Nick’s Tie in the very last scene , when he’s at his daughters performance.
As many times as some variation of this list has come out, #1 is ALWAYS the same and I don't believe it will change anytime soon.
The Happenings ending made me roll my eyes so hard; I was like, "That's how you end the movie"? 🎉

In Transformers, optiumus died first and then Sam barely survived his injury. Killing Sam would of been a terrible choice to go with. Y'all are reaching.
Yeah. They did a terrible job explaining why the ending was weak. The problem with the film was the messy structure. Not the ending.
Should've added the ending of Deep Rising to this list.
Watchmojo believes Remember Me has a better ending than Grease
Replace Wonder Woman with Wonder Woman 84 and ROTF with TLK and this list would be better.
Was the intro to number 20 recorded in the bathroom or something?
It feels like whoever put this together doesn't understand comic books or the expectation of those movies.
I loved Now You See Me, but hated the second one.
The line in War Of The Worlds about "God in His wisdom" creating germs doesn't come from H G Wells, who was a secular humanist. It was illegitimately inserted by the makers of the first film.
I thought Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin has the worst ending.
The other six are good on its own but the last one, not so much. It’s nothing like the six movies in the franchise
lmao Grease is the best ending ever are you kidding
I was really disappointed with the ending of Law Abiding Citizen. Obviously Butlers character wasn't the hero, yet it would have been great to see a lawyer who only worries about "wins" get his comeuppance.
A.I. would have been a classic if Spielberg had the balls to cut the last 20 mins and keep him frozen!
Spielberg didn't direct the ending, yet he directed the dark tones of the film.
Nah, it was still lame.
I agree. The ending was great. That was exactly how it needed to end.
I Am Legend was SO different than the book. This ending was terrible - I'm glad they had an alternate at least.
So the guy doing the voice over is a big yawn, and you guys think what Jake G. is trying to do in Source Code is stop a train attack? This is where WatchMojo gets unwatched.
12:20 I hate to tell you this but that’s exactly how the book ends too.
In an alternate universe, we have a full new reboot saga for the Planet of the Apes with bizarre costume designs and starring Tim Roth and Helena Boham Carter
the new recall movie should had the hero wake up in hospital bed with his wife and friend standing by
How long did it take YOU to figure out that WatchMojo puts incorrect information in their videos in order to get people to comment, thus driving up "engagement?"
