New MLP Gen 5 Characters! Pegasus Sisters Pipp Petals and Zipp Storm Revealed!

- For National Siblings Day, Hasbro chose revealed two new characters for the fifth generation of My Little Pony, the Pegasus sisters Pipp Petals and Zipp Storm. Pipp and Zipp will be appearing in the new series, as well as the upcoming My Little Pony movie later this year. Though Pipp and Zipp have been teased and glimpsed in various leaks, including licensed merchandise, this is the first time we've seen them in high resolution screenshots!

People keep saying Zipp reminds them of Rainbow Dash but aside from looking athletic I don't see it
Her expression looks a lot more serious and intense than Dash. Meaner? Dash was a tomboy but a friendly and inviting looking pony. Zipp gives me the impression she is rough, serious and no nonsense while Rainbow was very relaxed and at times lazy. I think aside from them both being athletic and tomboys they will differ in personality
I can see why some people are reminded of Rainbow Dash. Zipp’s posture could be seen as strong and confident, just as RD is, and the multicoloured mane and tail would naturally draw some comparisons. But I do agree with you, just based on that one image, I feel like Zipp is going to have a pretty different personality. Probably more serious than RD.
It's the wings, for me. Zipp's wings are clearly built for speed, from an aerodynamics perspective.

To me,, Zipp Storm reminds me of the brand new 2020 version of Tawna Bandicoot from the brand new 2020 Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time in most ways!They 're might be some beautiful and relatable sister bonding moments! We shall have to wait and see then when the G5 MLP Movie comes!* ;D
Yeah, people aren't referring to her personality, but she is the obvious heir to the role of athletic tomboy pegasus. Rainbow Dash is somewhat of a self centered goof-off, but Zipp looks to be of a more serious disposition.
Maybe the colored Alicorn genes might have passed on since Princess Cadence and Flurry have colored wings fading through out to the tip of the wing when closed.
This is a possibility! It would make some sense if these traits were gradually passed down from some of the Alicorn bloodlines.
I'm still convinced there is magic in G5.
I think the first line of the synopsis is connected to the next one about paranoia and mistrust. I think the world of Equestria lost the Magic of Friendship, specifically. I imagine there will still be unicorn magic and fantastical creatures. The Pegasi can still fly. Why wouldn't the unicorns be able to do their thing? Friendship is literally magic in G4, so the loss of friendship would still count as a loss of magic.
I hope this because I would love to see a fantasy world with modern technology. There's no rule that fantasy has to be set in a world with primitive technology. It works just fine with modernistic or even futuristic technology, like RWBY or Star Wars. I'd love to see MLP go down a similar route.
I have a really hard time seeing Pipp and Zipp as actual sisters, mainly because they look nothing alike. It is possible for siblings in MLP to looking very different (ex Twi and Shining), but these two, even down to the wings, just seem too different. They really only have similar names. I see their 'sister' relationship as more of 'very close friends that look up to each other' rather than 'blood sibling'. Supposedly Pipp is a princess, and if she is, Zipp seems like she could be like her guard (or is just a very protective older sister figure). I really just can't see these two actually being related, and I would like to see a sisterly bond between two characters who aren't actually related, I think it would be interesting
I’d like to see that kind of relationship between some characters in the movie and following show. The bonds we choose to make can be stronger than those of “blood relation,” and that’s something I would want to see explored in Gen 5.
They can have the same mother or father while the other is different. It would be the way to explain their colors.
After I took a closer look at Pipp’s wings, if you look closely, her wings are covered in clouds and her wings are actually clipped! Which means she cannot fly- well unless they grow back but i dunno if thats how pegasus wings work so uh. Anyways, I think the reason she has clouds on her wings is to help her fly since she is disabled, I think it’s quite creative and also gives more use for clouds in this universe
That would definitely be a creative solution!
That's interesting, I always thought of the cloud texture as part of the wings but this makes sense too.

They look so good! I love that there appears to be different “types” of Pegasus wings, that could lead to some interesting varieties and designs for the characters!

I don't have a problem with technology in Equestria, but the classy thing to do would have been to limit it to 1980s or 90s tech. You could still have telephones, televisions and computers, but would avoid the cringe factor of having ponies texting, taking selfies, and tweeting.
Do you know what a slightly terrifying but I guess oddly welcoming plotwist would be?
If Zipp was Stoic but more trusting than Pipp,
And Pipp was putting on act but was more mistrusting than ever,
As much as I'd hate Pipp being mistrustful and manipulative at all,

Something in my Brony heart, mind and soul tells that Zipp Storm will be a protective but fiercely loyal siblings just like how Aaron Taylor-Johnson 's awesome MCU film version of the spunky Sokovian speedster angel and true vibrant blue heroic Avenger Pietro Django Maximoff aka Quicksilver in the awesome 2015 Avengers: Age of Ultron MCU film! :D I'm also sensing elements of Brie Larson's epic version of the Marvel/MCU film superheroine Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel in her too and I purely love her for it! ^-^

It was stated in the initial press reveal of the movie synopsis that this version of Equestria has lost its magic.
Magic might not be entirely gone, just weak, flight magic was usable by multiple species some of them considered non magical, meaning its probably magic that requires very little magic to work.

Possibly, but not necessarily. The Pegasus guards from the earlier image wore more traditional looking armour, without any indication of modern weapons. Though it’s entirely possible they are “ceremonial” guards stuck with escort duty!
