The young and pretty girl in purple dress must be over 70 years old now and no one knows what has become of her, but she can tell herself ... I was there...
This is a great song a good friend of mine his name was Gary Carly and he he like the song and he used to play it all the time and every time I hear it I always think about him he had a brain tumor and he passed away about 10-15 years ago and I miss him so bad he was also an alcoholic he drank beer but he worked hard he worked for the railroad and he fell off the back of a caboose and had a seizure but it was very bad that that happened and I think about him all the time❤❤❤❤
The theme of Skip James song (originally recorded in 1931) doesn't come in until about time 2:38. At 6:38 they pay homage to the Cream version just before the song ends.
I worked with rod's wife, and talked w him(rod) 2 or 3 times on the phone,he was super nice!I dont think he wants to be found,it's amazing that the internet has no idea where he is.I worked w his wife 15 years ago,so he probably is in the same little town( I wont name it)I think it totally sucks that DP sued him and took his royalties away.they were millionaires and he ,at the time, was just a blue collar worker with kids!(around 1980)He is a very intelligent person to do the job he did at that time (all I will say is it has to do w therapy)I wish he had continued to sing, but the music buisness sucks!
The way I understood it, DP sued him to stop him from touring under the Deep Purple name and and playing DP music in a band that had no other former members of DP other than him. I saw that show. $30 bucks a ticket and no clue that Rod would be the only one-time member of DP there. He didn't even do ANY songs that he originally sung, such as this one, Hush or Kentucky Woman...he only did Gillan and Coverdale songs.
cream did this great song originally and it was great but i feel deep purples cover of it here is even greater with the great john lord on keyboards ritchie blackmores licks are better than claptons on this one and rod evans is a fantastic singer
I am cracking up right now! The intro seemed to have nothing to do with the body of the song (interesting and very well played, tho)....Black (and a couple whites) boogying down to this.....so weird. ha,ha. I bet the singer got 'underarm belt rash' from those pants...ha, ha,ha......
I have the answer for you. This video is taken from the footage of the song "and the adress". And of course you can hear the studio version of I'm so glad, not some kind of live. If you dearch and the adress you will find this video

Rod also did some great stuff with Captain Beyond and Nick had a fine band in Warhorse.
Super grupazo.......
En mi época me encantó beatiful.
First time I heard this was about 5 years ago visiting a relative in Mexico City. I was hooked right away.
I only have heard the Cream version of this song from their 1968 live concert album. I never knew it was a cover of a Deep Purple song.
They're both a cover of a Skip James blues number.
Nice song!
Espasiva, Tavarich !

And Captain Beyond is also one of the greatest bands ever. He is awesome.

those yellow stretch pants seem to be missing a codpiece
Evans could have easily made the transition from the psychodelic to the heavier stuff if they had kept him.But Blackmore didn't like him.

I’m sorry but with the blurry vision, the hair cut and bright yellow all I can see is Noel Feilding.
Captain Beyond is proof of this.
I am 64 years , and still like it this song only the huitar, but,( sorry fellows) the lyrics are a piece of ship, well shit. Excuse me the ditty word.
FAR OUT -

Unfortunately this great voice was replaced by the bawler Ian Gillan.
ZOMBIES
I dont think this is Deep Purple...
