This video was wonderful. You’re wonderful! I like the deeper registers also. I play cello. I bought a penny whistle a few years ago and finally learned to play a scale on it. The hardest thing was covering the holes completely. I think it just takes a lot of practice to learn how to completely cover the holes consistently.
You have a very nice sounding instrument there. I found I needed some support on my own low D whistle and put a fat O-ring around the tube where my right thumb rests. Probably not as effective as your solution. A low whistle sounds great in dense forest where you get good reverb off the trees. I don't pack with my whistle in colder weather -- too much condensation inside. But it's a lot of fun in the warmer months if I am somewhere I know I won't disturb anyone.
Flutes is not nice to listen to by them self most of the time. I got a low key/bass ocarina for the same reasons (but no one actually ever heard me play). I live out in the forest.

This is for you, Callum. I think it’s the main reason I bought a penny whistle.
