I like how there was random completely fire music out of nowhere. It's like WTF, no youtube video should have music this good.
So many talents, and he has his own musical laboratory. Genius!
A new musiquesdenullepart upload? Plus voice reveal, and a new instrument tutorial? Can this day get any better???😄😄😄
Thanks, already working on the next one!

Brilliant! Just made my first whistle the other day - was not working initially - so back to youtube - and I now see there are many ways to make a fipple! This looks like a great way to do it! Many thanks - Im off to the workshop!
I just started backing on Patreon, was flipping through the book, I'm a little surprised that you don't have a build video similar to this one but for membrane clarinets? I loved your demo of them with your ducky bagpipe! 😍
Hey mate, you deserve an artist page on Spotify, don’t you? Thank you for the educative content 🙏🏻❤️
Thanks a lot! I have my album on Spotify right here open.spotify.com/artist/5jQStFAR37EeheSPIV7FiX?si=jSGhfFstS4mV5BkHJSzAfg

i know im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account?
I stupidly lost my password. I would love any help you can give me
Every artist, who uses a distributor, gets an artist page on Spotify… that’s not an achievement and might even be free with the case of Amuse!
Great video. Very clear and straight to the point.
The best of the best!!!
Very cool presentation. I like how you've shown the steps but, at the same time I appreciate that you've must have had decades of professional level practice and experience to understand how wood winds function. I hope you do a side by side comparison one day.
I need to buy some good ones first, the real whistles from my actual collection are very bad ones!
Woooo!!!! I’m so excited that you are back!!!! I’d be super excited to see in depth string instrument tutorials
There is already some strings tutorials on the channel, and a lot more coming!
how to pronounce whistle using french word: oui seul
Thanks that helps!
I love how you say it though!
Instructions unclear: I now call whistles, weasels...
Exactly the video I was looking for, very informative, well-made, insta-subscribed, this video is a gem !
Fast and precise!!!!!!!! The best wistle making video I have seen.

Yay ! Have to listen right away !
Well done Nicolás!!
Very good. I'm going to try making one, and then in the same mold a pentatonic one. I even start the wish list for a video with a pentatonic flute :)
marvelous video, I’m only now discovering your channel! I love the Irish style reel at the end!

Mate, you're a genius. Keep up the good work.
Thanks!
Man... you are a genius! I made some of your projects! It's simply amazing how this project sounds!
Congrats! I'll check out your Patreon page!
I dont know if someone has yeat said, but to curve better the tubes you can fill them with sand or similar granular material and don't let the tubes too much deformed. I pretty liked your job! Awesome!
Thanks! I never tried with PVC?

Salut Nicolas !
This. Is. INSANE!!!!! PLEASE MAKE MORE TUTORIALS OF THESE!!!!!!!!
Thanks, I will!
Extra extra, c'est trop génial!!!
Grand merci!
My eyes and hands are ready!
Wow. Double recorder. Aolos, Shawm. One handed pipe to play w/drum. Great playing! Maybe whistle tabs to play along. Covid layed a good egg!
I take notes!
HE'S BACK FROM NULLEPART!!!
Very good
Nice!😎
good job
14-13mm for diameter of dowel for the whistle, and For anyone else wondering the mouthpiece at the top I think must be flush with the top of the whistle and then finish where the wooden dowel ends. So, essentially, it is the same size as the wooden dowel.
My whistle has worked but I think I cannot play very well! Need to work on that
Nice Video Nicolas ! Congrats to you and Sandrine :)
Thanks!!

Thanks!
Elles sont sympas tes vidéos
merci!
Hyped for what you’ve got coming! I’d love to see a reed instrument tutorial or maybe a Fujara. I’m gonna go make a low whistle.
I take notes! I'm not a reed specialist, except my membrane clarinets, but I made a PVC clarinet a few days ago, I have to learn how to play it now!

Are all your wind instruments played with PVC?
Hello, thank you for sharing this! Can i ask what tuning are you using?
Hey Man great work. I rly like your work. Can i ask what tuner app do you use ?
This is tunable, the best for wind instruments!
While tuning, how do you get the higher octaves in tune with the low octave while not changing the low octave? Do you enlarge the holes in a certain way? I have made a wooden whistle but the low and high octaves are out of sync with each other and I don't know how to fix it. Thanks a lot! I will give this tutorial a try. Also do you have plans for a low F or F whistle?
I run into this problem with flutes made from wood or bamboo, but rarely with PVC flutes. I don't know if it's the more consistent bore shape or what, but very frustrating!
I've read somewhere that making the hole bigger while tuning will do more to the low octave but moving it up or away from the end will do more for the higher octave
For an already carved whistle, you can try the same way as it is done in recorders: octave key. Try Hans Bracker's whistle and flute hole calculator. In this case, you will have additional fingering for clean C.
Have you seen that guy who's playing some brave type music using PVC pipes and a couple of flip-flops. I would love to learn how to make that thing.
Of course! I made a few of those instruments too, quite easy to tune, just with the length of the pipes
ciao
J'espère que ça t'aidera !
Hello I am so excited to start making these types of instruments. A whole new world... Very interesting. I am struggling to find 16mm diameter pipes and dowels in the UK. Would it matter very much if it was 15mm, I would need to make the flute longer and the spacing of the holes would be different? And should the dowel match the internal diameter of the pvc pipe or the outer diameter
The dowel has to fit into the pipe, so inner diameter, you can adapt this instrument to every length, make some tries!
I was lately also struggling with building a flute... Do you have any webpage recommendation for calculating flute holes and which tuner app do you use?
Looking forward for more tutorials in this awesome quality and more instruments I can try to build myself (in case of lots of upcoming free time ;)
I never used a soft to calculate holes, I observed a lot of flutes and start from this... but I'm finishing my ebook with a lot of infos into, I'm sure you will find what you need!
@@NicolasBras yeah. I tried different softwares but at the end I ended up with randomly trying. Worked somehow, but I'm definitely excited for the ebook :)
You can calculate the hole spacing, but like the length of the whistle, it will take some adjustments (a.k.a. 'voicing'.) This is due to a lot of differing factors. Interior diameter, wall thickness, how rounded or square the edges of the holes are, the diameter of the holes (start too small, then enlarge), the stiffness of the body material and so on. If hogwarts had a class in whistle making, it would be considered a Dark Art. The good news is that with some trial and error, and patience, you can get a decent sounding instrument without having 20 years experience making them.
@@jfan4reva but theorically, mathly, in a perfect cylinder, that holes must to be in an specific point, no? Where must to be that places?
tuner t1 is the app
Is it possible to make one with a 20mm pipe? Would that ruin the tuning?
you should also show people how to make a minisax using the same material, if you haven't seen (which i highly doubt you haven't seen eric) eric the flutemaker you should look up his minisax. just found yer channel and it's cash money.
I made some clarinets, but I still need to work on my reed playing to make some videos with!
@@NicolasBras excellent stuff my guy. also a vid on how to make transverse flutes would be fly. I'm having trouble making a good mouthpiece on my PVC flutes, I'm sure we could also use more pointers. plus you could talk about the construction of the windways of your other flutes like the african ones.
Make a tutorial of corrugated Pipe instruments
❤
So glad to see you back! Hope you get a lot of support, this channel is very inspiring and needs to keep going for the pvc instruments community to grow and make music available at a low cost for more people.
Is there a way to submit subtitles in spanish for the tutorials? How can I contact?
Thanks for your kind words! There was a community subtitle system, but it is not available anymore!
Great instructional video. Curious, what is the name of the tuning app you use on your phone?
Tunable, a future sponsor for the next videos!
So.... in those last instruments.... you seemed to use a system I have been trying to understand... the 3-hole Basque Txistu (in your vid two of them on a single "flute", genius!)
Ever done a vid solely on txistu and how its fingering actually works? I cannot find any material _anywhere_ online...! You would probably be the first..! (or, there is a similar instrument with the same system?)
Also ace tutorial, going to see if I can do something with this 😀
Espero tu respuesta. Saludos desde Argentina
Hi! I use Tunable, this is the best for flutes, and I work with them, you can check my affiliate link, it helps! get.tunableapp.com/nicolasbras
Muchas Gracias@@NicolasBras
what's the tuner app you use? Really great videos !
I need a tutorial for that diaulos at the end!
excellent, as usual!
out of curiosity, do you ever make transverse flutes (as opposed to the chiff and fipple type)?
You will find a tutorial about PVC transverse flutes on the channel, and a lot more in my ebook!
bless you, sir! I used to have a bamboo fife from an artist at Pike Place Market. I busked with it several years around Christmas time outside one of the upscale downtown stores, playing a limited number of Christmas songs I'd figured out on it. that included a passing fair rendition of Dance Of The Sugarplum Fairies. I can't remember what happened to it, but now I can have a shot at making one of my own.
Hi Nikolus bro which tool you use for hole shrpning hook type toole with red handle plz tell the name of tool....?
I loved this build Nicolas!! Would it be ok with you if I publish a video of me building this flute based on your plans and measurements?
Sure, feel free to do it!
@@NicolasBras Awesome, thank you!
Cordialement, Gilles
Wonderful video! What type of PVC are you using? I've had lots of success with "schedule 40" PVC but am curious about the furniture grade PVC
Just pick the cheapest. For this purpose, you don't need the extra strength or chemical resistance of the specialty PVC. Schedule 40 is just fine.
If you're making something super big and long, you might want the added wall thickness of a higher schedule pipe for stiffness, but other than that I don't think there's a strong reason to spend the extra cash.
Glenn Schultz (RIP), who was well known for his Thin Weasel wooden whistles, also made a line from CPVC (the beige hot-water pipe--schedule 80?), that he called Water Weasels (I used to own one, and losing it, literally, was one of my big instrument regrets).
Hello, It is great !!! Diameters of holes in the schema are plan or drilled ? Is the distance from the edge to the center of the holes?
Great video!
What tuning app do you use?
Hi! thanks for your video.
I have a question: wich is the measure of the file you use for making the bevel?
Is it more convenient using 10 mm or 7 mm?
thanks!
Would love to see a video on low/alto whistles! Also what's that tuning app called?
The tuning app is tunable, you can use my affiliate link in the description, that helps!
