Sister Calderón from Red Dead Redemption 2: "...when I was younger, these challenges frustrated me. But as I grew older, I started asking 'how' instead of 'why'." I believe that 'unplanned' and 'natural' are just two words carrying the same meaning, and that 'purpose' is a concept made up by sentient beings and assigned by individuals. If we look at things from the opposite direction, plants don't exist to produce oxygen. Non-sentient life only exists for the sake of existing, as is coded in its DNA. The plants were never intended to produce oxygen, they were only programmed to survive. The oxygen produced by them is just a byproduct of the natural events that led to the evolution of plants. Similarly, animals hunt for the sake of survival. Natural life is balanced the way it is because the animals behave the way they do. We are just some who acknowledge the significance of the plants and balance of life on how it affects and maintains our lifestyle. As for artificial creations, they are all created to fulfill a purpose assigned to them by their creators. But since purpose is assigned by individuals, those creations can be used to fulfill different purposes. In the end, I believe that the only 'purpose' we have is whatever we choose to assign to ourselves. After all, we were the ones who invented that concept.
"Purpose" is something humanity has invented. We are the only known species on this planet that not only can learn and adapt accordingly, but also change the world to their own needs instead. For some reason, we are the only creature than can conciously do that. If we can't see purpose in our existence, where we can see purpose in other things, I would wager a guess and assume humanity is a chaotic thing; a loose domino that causes change, for better and worse. Without Chaos, the universe as we know it would be impossible. So we can be a very good and perhaps even neccesary part of this world.
in a notepad in the same rooom. Morgan Everett mentions that Morpheus is depressed. I think the reality of A.I becoming sad or pessimistic is a fantasy.
It's kind of interesting to me how the fear of AI in the late 20th century was about self-awareness. This is very much in line with what Terminator is about as well. Well into the 21st century now, it seems like those fears have dissipated. There's a lot of reason to be fearful of data-mining algorithms but none of it has to do with self-awareness or AI emotion; it's about what the controllers of the AI are capable of using the technology for.
@@evanstein3011 A very good observation! I think it's because the façade of AI (in its current form) actually having anything to do with human intelligence fell inbetween those years as they found more and more actual instrumental purpose throughout society. It still was so jarring to hear JC was 23. He comes off as so classy and erudite for his age. I would have guessed Paul was the younger one if I didn't know. He talks like he's at in his late 20s.
I think that the idea is that augumented people age faster due to the augmentations taking a toll on the body (neuropozyne consumption side effects, stress on the body etc), also he's biologicaly engineered, might be some cloning involved, so it might explain why JC and Paul "looks" older.
Absolutely not. Morpheus isn't a god, he's made by the illuminaty chief. He 's just an IA with the largest data base about humans, in deus ex, everyone is connected with technology, data mining is probably what' s the most important and Morpheus like he said have informations about everyone (USA data base of people's). He isn't an IA who knows future, he just use the data base to know things about people and tell them. His speech about god is simply what the illuminaty told him. He learned from them (he's in the headquarter of the illuminaty, only illuminatis can interact with him, he only know their ways of thinking.).
It's not really "evidence". It's just foreshadowing one of the possible outcomes and further influencing how you might feel about it when the time actually comes to make that choice later in the game.

When people discuss video games as an art medium i really don't think there is a better example than deus ex.
How did you get the audio so loud and great? Morpheus is always so quiet in every other video I see!
Turning down the music in the options menu?
hello there from 2023
ChatGPT is the beginning of new era of tech
23 years old?! well that's a conspiracy
Chat GPT hello!!!
The. Best. Game. Ever.
It’s not quite the same when the music isn’t blasting over the voice lines
And now we are Stephaniee , it's so great !
It still was so jarring to hear JC was 23. He comes off as so classy and erudite for his age. I would have guessed Paul was the younger one if I didn't know. He talks like he's at in his late 20s.
Dude looks like Steven Seagal on his 40s
JC is only 23? Wtf? Thought he’d be in his early 30’s at least.
I think that the idea is that augumented people age faster due to the augmentations taking a toll on the body (neuropozyne consumption side effects, stress on the body etc), also he's biologicaly engineered, might be some cloning involved, so it might explain why JC and Paul "looks" older.
@@jfhdf1517 but clones don't get old fast. The are getting older with the same speed as human
AI unleashed as a Walmart Greeter.
But this is what its THINKING.
Chilling.
so be it.
So Morphius knew JC would merge with Helios?
it wanted him to.
@@indeed2207 "You will soon have your god. You will make it with your own hands"
I don't think Morpheus knew JC would merge with Helios, but he knew of Helios.
He knew that even if JC didn't, one would eventually. Bees make honey, ants make ant hills, bears are the emperors of the forest and man worships God.
02:42 evidence the Helios ending is canon
that and confirmed in the crappy, lesser known, sequel.
all of the endings are canon, not just the helios one
invisible war smoked a drug dealer's whole storage and made all the endings canon. you're not wrong, just not precise.
It's not really "evidence". It's just foreshadowing one of the possible outcomes and further influencing how you might feel about it when the time actually comes to make that choice later in the game.
I feel like when he says JC will make his god with his own hands he means the Fusion between Daedalus and Icarus forming up Helios
"I’m sorry, but I’m a large language model trained by OpenAl, and I don’t have access to the internet or any external information sources. I can only generate responses based on the text that I was trained on, which has a knowledge cutoff of 2021. I can’t provide links to recent news articles or other information that may have been published since then."
Maybe im tripping but I can hear Walton Simon's voice behind the AI
It's the same VA, Tom Hall.
Morpheus had a child.
NG Resonance in Invisible War.
GOD THIS GAME IS SO ACCURATE
I remember the day i bought this. Almost 23 year ago.
AI will try to impose the decisions and rule in a kind of technocracy in a near future.
"Some people don't understand the dangers of indiscriminate surveillance"
Oh my god this is so sad, Alexa play Despacito
Damn, just realized I'm a year older than JC Denton
we all are
even more than a year
I was born when the game came out and now I'm his age >;)
JC's original model looks better
You are a lamer cause you use jc denton and dont know why, lamer
@@ecozones2d627 ha
oh yeah yeah
that...is his original model.
@@peppermillers8361 i know, revision uses a different model by default
Matrix Oracle's in a nutshell
god help us
Since chatgpt became popular I was thinking about this scene. If you put slightly more advanced chatgpt algorithms into this type of hologram or just robotic body and give it voice it would do pretty much the same thing.
I still wonder how they could come up with events in the future that are actually taking place 2023...
Wait, JC is 23? His hairline and overall appearance says other wise...

Wow!
The Machine God is nigh.
Jc is 23 years old?? At least 35 god damn it lol.
Maybe he’s like Solid Snake with an accelerated aging,
Well in the beginning you know that he just joined UNATCO because he is young.. Paul’s younger brother..
He's a genetically engineered super soldier clone, from I think, Jensen line in the prequels? Soldiers are young. If he was bred for this, 23 doesn't seem too young.
Morpheus orpheus,, come eat some walrus's. Worcester sauce.
Hideo Kojima- "Wow what a great idea I invented!" (Steals and releases MGS2 a year later.)
He didn't steal it, it was part of the zeitgeist of that time. The matrix was released one year prior
you should look up rampancy in marathon, the idea of a mentally ill, omnipotent AI is nothing new. plenty of it during the time.
1:28 Holy Fuck!
Inevitability of Gradualness, EXTERMINATION! For your only hope for a future, do you know one word of pray for me, Francis E. Dec?
Mad Deadly Worldwide Communist Gangster Computer God? Nah it was the Fabian Society member, Sidney Webb.
I never found this guy. Where is he? Judging from the music he's either from the chateau or Everett's hideout.
He is in Everett’s hideout. If you explore it further you will find him.
Why worship God when you can become him
Why worship an imaginary god when you can build a real one?
I’ve always treated this conversation as a…
“Silent truth bomb” - in that, you’d be considered a nut to repeat what these talks with Morpheus imply in the real word,
Yet over time it has all come to pass.
Imagination bleeds into the future sometimes; deus ex is once such thing.
How do you come across Morpheus? I finished the game yesterday and never met him.
It's in Morgan Everett's house.
@@DaveOJyess, found him at last
JC is 23 years old?
Degrengolada omfg I’ve been playing this game since the early 2000’s and it never occurred to me to ask how JC is only 23....
He seems pretty young to me. He wears sunglasses at night.
He definitely looks 35, the hairline, the face structure... It looks like they modeled the character imagining him in his 30s and then changed the age following a story decision but forgot to update the character model.
Listed age by global conspiracy.
Actual age from birth from those tubes.. unknown.

In 2023 this is whats coming to humanity. The masses did worship their image thru their social media account.what is said by mobius became true how come?
hi are you using a texture mod
Yes. It was recorded with a new vision texture pack.
Well Morpheus is wrong about people.
ChatGPT?
so i'm a god, so what?
Returning to Morpheus' words after losing my atheism he no longer sounds as scary. Don't get me wrong, he's still chilling to the core, but he sounds far more as the creation of someone misguided and deluded than he does as the teller of terrible truths.
Losing your atheism? So you mean you think you can exclude yourself from this fundemental part of humanity by having faith? The fact that you commented on this saying such a thing and made comparrisons deriving a conclusion to share with the internet proves that you simply haven't.
But I think you're closer.
It (youtube) says that the game is Mass Effect hahahahaah
