I'm really glad you got to experience Bishops Castle. The man, Jim Bishop and his wife Phoebe are unique people. All in all, they are pretty nice couple. Around 2015, both of them were diagnosed with cancer. During the time of their treatment, a slimey guy, they thought was a friend, talked the Bishops into making him a trustee on the property, just until their treatments were over. Not long after, the guy started claiming ownership, saying he was going to donate the property to a "church" or was going to give it to his mother as a gift. When the Bishops called him on it, his response was, "Get a lawyer." He basically kept filing bogus documents with the courts so the Bishops were up to their tallest timber in legal debt. Well, the people at Harley Davidson in Colorado Springs enjoy riding their motorcycles to Bishops Castle, and they didn't like what was happening to the Bishops. They organized donations and legal help for the Bishops. A hearing date was put on the docket and a judge ordered the property and castle be put back in Jim's name. Jim had originally bought the land when he was only15 years old for just under a thousand dollars. What originally started out as a mountian home for Jim and Phoebe, grew to the castle you explored this summer. 🤴 🏰
Yep, I remember that!. Pretty crazy that, that guy actually thought the community was going to let him get away with that!. A lot of people including myself who've gone there and have met Jim know he's a unique guy and wouldn't change him for nothin!. I remember way back in the day he let some bands play in that cathedral and all the money made from that went to Jim. And he was there cheering us on too!! 😆. Some parts of the castle have been neglected I see, but seeing people still working on it gives me high hope's that they will fix everything up again and maybe even one day finish it! 🥰.
Heather you are absolutely beautiful inside and out!! Never shy away from the camera..We are blessed to get to know you and your family and are thankful for being on Alexander's channel!! Steven you are a pure delight and such a wonderful addition to the clan!!! Looking forward to more family and sibling outings!!!!
What an interesting place, thanks for the adventure Alexander. Steve has the sweetest smile, so glad you are enjoying your time together. Nice to see you again Heather
I went to Bishops castle in 1998 with my husband, my six week old baby, and some friends and we explored the castle. It was in a bit better shape 24yrs ago but still had my anxiety going off when we climbed one of the towers. 😊 I didn't go as high as my husband, lol. I am glad Alex, Heather, and Steve have gotten to experience this together as well. It's quite unique. Great video! ❤️😊
Impressed that Steve did all that sketchy climbing in SLIDES! He might be part mountain goat, too. Looking forward to more family updates and love that you three are willing to share your journey.
I enjoyed your adventure with Steve! There is a reason women live longer than men! Heather is smart, she just enjoyed watching her brothers doing crazy things! 😂
I'm sitting here shaking as i suffer from ridiculous vertigo since my spinal nerves got damaged 6 years ago. It's a trippy and unpleasant experience to have after 50 years of no previous issues. Awesome building.
What I'm finding most entertaining is seeing brothers and sisters doing stuff together they didn't get to do when they were kids. This is awesome! I think this was a perfect place to share a forever memory. I think this place is a beautiful expression of a human's dream. It is there because someone thought it and then made it. And is still making it. The ironwork alone is beautiful. And a lot of money. It's someone's life long love.
I am a native of Colorado, and never heard of Bishops castle. Welcome to Colorado. You and your family are part of my daily watching when you make videos.. It is great that you have time with your brother and sister.
Twice while you at the top of that tower, I got that feeling In my stomach you get when you think you are in danger of falling from a great height, and I am sitting in my desk chair! I'm with Heather, I will enjoy at a distance.
Your brother definitely has the same eyes. No way would I go up there 😱 Heather is the sensible one 😄 awesome place though. Absolutely loving the videos ❤
I live close to Bishops Castle and been there many times. About 20 years ago, I did climb to the top and walk the catwalk. Very rickety. There are steps inside. Very cool.
A video I watched after you showed this one, had an interview with Jim, it was said the stove in the staircase was for the dragon to emit smoke. So cool thanks again for taking me on an adventure with you.
I just love you’re friendly sibling banter! It’s so natural ❤️ ya’ll are great! So happy that you continued on with the channel like so, it remains fabulous!
That was the most incredible thing I think I've ever seen so I thank you Alex so very very much for not only being brave enough to do this Bishop's Castle but for videoing it for all of us to enjoy especially those who are scared of heights and have no intention of visiting Colorado anytime soon. Best of wishes and thank you again for all your channels and all your videos which I find inspiring and interesting!!! All the best to you Melissa your children and your extended family members
That looked incredibly dangerous! I found myself saying "don't do it, don't do it! It appears Heather is the smart one in the family. I had to look away through most of this. Nice to see the three of you together anyway. Thanks Alex!
Alex, you, Heather, and Steve resemble each other! My heart was in my throat as I climbed the castle with you!!! 😳 I don’t blame Heather for staying on terra firma. Funiculaire is the word you’re searching for. I went in them when I was in Switzerland. 😁❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶👏👏👏🇨🇦
Very interesting video, holding my breath as you went up some of those stairs< not in a million years would u find me there, I'd be on level ground with Heather......gosh......beautifully done tho....nice to see the three of you together...best to you all...safe travels...
Heather, you know we are a great welcoming community, when we still stick around with Alex's "Dad jokes"! lol No need to feel shy for our sake. We all think it is lovely that you have found each other. I love that you got together for this outing. That castle looks amazing! You wouldn't catch me on those rail pathways though! lol
Wow. This was amazing. I wish we could have seen more of the ground floor inside and what those stained glass windows said. It really is a wizard's castle! I so need to go see this place.
I’m with you Heather! I wouldn’t have stepped foot in that “castle” either! Looks like you’ve got a kindred, adventurous spirit in Steve, Alex!! I’m glad you’re having such a great visit!!
I am not afraid of hights, but I can take stairs witsh are see thrue. But this is a peace of art, for sure. I think I am in love with Steven, he is in to music, likes old cars, has Rottweilers (not just one!), is not afraid to explore, loves antics and fancy things...what did I miss? Hether is lovely as well, I new already before. Congrats to your new family Alex, lots and lots adventures and a lot quality time. Thank you for sharing
Alex...when I watched the first video with steve. I said ...he looks like your dad.. and I felt a bit teary eyed and goosebumps. so happy that you spent time with your siblings.
My brothers and I have learned that when our older sisters say they won’t do something, it’s final. Lol! So happy you guys went up and you filmed it for us. Really intriguing structure. Than you for that.
Thank you for sharing Bishop's Castle. I'm wheelchair-bound, so I'd never be able to get into there. It really is a spectacular place. The views!! I loved the cathedral room and all of the "gadgets" he created to help him build it.
Loved seeing you 3 siblings spending some time together and enjoying each other’s company! Making memories and building bonds! Bishop’s Castle is truly amazing but SO dangerous! All the stairs & platform are so flimsy!…I found myself thinking that it’s too bad that the large cathedral room isn’t on a lower level so it would be more safe and useable. Then maybe the Bishops could actually enjoy inhabiting part of their castle. Truly beautiful! Thanks for ‘taking us up' with you, cuz I can guarentee that I would have stayed on firm ground, since I have a deathly fear of heights! Cant wait for more adventures with you three while you are there! So fun!
I couldn't help thinking about Melissa while watching this and so glad you were back on terra firma before she saw the video! Thanks for sharing family time with Heather and Steven. In New Zealand Health & Safety wouldn't let you on the property without a visitors pass and a hard hat. No way would the public be allowed in. It was a great adventure for sure.
The stoves in the stairwell - I have a vague recollection of hearing that they heated the stairs to keep them from building up ice and making them impassable. That was a fascinating episode! Good choice by Heather! Thanks for taking the time to take us along!
Did not know this place existed. Cool I will have to make the trip down to see this castle. Glad that you, Heather, and Steve are finally getting to know each other after never knowing that you had each other. Different but a beautiful thing too. Have a great day all of you
Heather , the brothers both like adventures, so it seem fitting you arranged for them to see this place and smart for you to keep firmly on the ground and enjoy it from there
Heather you are the smart one! I would NEVER be able to go into this "castle"! Glad Alex and Steve were brave enough. Now I can see it from home! Thanks guys!
What a fantastic story, you all are so lucky to find each other ,I wish your dad was alive to join all of you ,thank you for these two great stories.🧡❤️♥️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks for popping into view, Heather. I don’t like being on camera either, so I understand. We love to hear you if not see you. I don’t have a sister, but I’m thinking you make a great one!
This is exactly the kind of place your Dad would have stopped at on a road trip with you all in the car, and tell you to run around and spend your energy! It's like you're 10, 12, and 15 and having fun pesting each other already! 😆❤️
I’m just so happy your meeting and visit with Steve (and Heather) went so well. They seem so lovely and kind, just like you. Thanks as always for sharing your life with us.
I recently finished a two month trip to the UK, when visiting castles there were always several sketchy spiral stone stairs - some I refused to go up. Although many were in decent shape just as many were not. I finally declared that if anyone expected me to move into a castle they would have to make it a rancher!
🙋♀️❤❤❤It's so cool to watch you make playful memories with your Sibs! When you look back at your life, Alex, you can be proud of how well you harnessed time!
You are a much stronger person than I am. I have a fear of heights so I could never have made that climb but I enjoyed the view that you showed us. Now I don’t have to go.
This by far is the best travel vlog by anyone this year or any other. Amazing what one man can create. I love your antique vlogs, mom a serial collector. But this is amazing.
I can hear Melissa saying, are you crazy!? Fascinating and kinda scary. The stones, so many, and so high. Castles in Scotland have the narrow, curving staircases.
Hi Alex, thanks for letting us see this castle, its brilliant, beautiful views, and the green trees it would be hard not to go right to the top, it is wonderful to see you all excited, and having fun, brilliant video, you did it again . 😀💜
What an intriguing place. Great opportunity for siblings to bond. Gotta wonder if Melissa began studying your life insurance coverage when she saw this vlog. May this tour continue to be rewarding for the three of you.
Thank you for this tour! I love castles and peoples interpretation of them. This is definitely in need of repairs but it's magnificent! I believe this was a magical place for you three to make a memory, Childhood wonderment and exploration. Fun! Enjoyed.

I hope you recorded Mellisa when you shared your footage lol. Very sweet that you thought of your wife when you were exploring. I admire the man's commitment to his project it is pretty amazing visually. It reminds me of Gormenghast.
Scaring the bajeebies out of me just watching you two climb the castle!!! YIKES,,,,, I for sure would be hanging around on the ground with Heather!! You got one smart sister. Brother is as daring as you!
That tree line is beautiful. I would think during winter snowy months, the view would be breath taking. Thank you, I enjoyed this. As I was reading the comments was giving a little history of this land. The Bishop's really had a wonderful life due to people who care !!
Hello Heather . Nice that Steve and you got to explore the castle together . Have a great time visiting and exploring with your brother and sister . Thank you for sharing Alex .
Bishop Castle was an awesome place to visit my daughter who was 7 at the time her and I went all they to the very top. We where there in Colorado to say goodbye to the man was like a father to me on top of Pikes Peak.

Thankyou for this info, Dear and Thankyou to the Bikers and all those that helped to ensure Justice was served! XXX
Thank God! I ant imagine people doing that to them. So glad they are getting help. We’ve been there. A must stop.
Thanks for sharing this info❤️
Thank you to Harley Davidson and all who helped justice be done!

Bishop's Castle is where I take anyone who comes to visit me in Colorado. I love to watch people's reactions when they first see it.

I would be keeping Heather company....but even from the outside it is something to see.Amazing!!
What a great find! Love that your brother seems to always wear a smile. This place has a Harry Potter feeling to it.

I’m not afraid of heights but the missing boards and loose railing would have deterred me. Thanks for the tour.
Awesome making memories with your new brother and sister
Twice while you at the top of that tower, I got that feeling In my stomach you get when you think you are in danger of falling from a great height, and I am sitting in my desk chair! I'm with Heather, I will enjoy at a distance.
I wouldn't have even ventured over the drawbridge - even it looked dodgy to me. Thank you for going there and filming your experience there. Cheers! 🏰

Glad you and Steve survived all that danger! You three have such a great sibling chemistry! I can imagine all the fun you all can have in the future!

He does look like your dad. Glad you all got to meet.
That castle is amazing! I love it! Though it would be nice if it were safer. It would make a fantastic venue if it were finished.
So happy for you and your new-found family!

‼️‼️‼️WoW‼️‼️‼️ Love this whole place. ❤️❤️❤️Looks like paradise.
I always wanted to see that place! Now I think I'm good! Your tour was enough for me! 😄
I grew up in the Spring been going to Bishops since the 90s. It's cool to see how much he's accomplished since then.
It's fun to see fellow Coloradans on Alexander's chats .... I'm in Manitou. I think he should check out the incline!
Weird but interesting place. Lots of free time in his hands the builder has and dedication to his dream.
I can hear Melissa saying, are you crazy!? Fascinating and kinda scary. The stones, so many, and so high. Castles in Scotland have the narrow, curving staircases.
Thank you so much for taking me on your journey. Love Steve.
Hi Alex, thanks for letting us see this castle, its brilliant, beautiful views, and the green trees it would be hard not to go right to the top, it is wonderful to see you all excited, and having fun, brilliant video, you did it again . 😀💜
Wowzers!!! That’s insane lol. I don’t blame Heather for not going WAAAAYYY up there!!!!🫣 the architecture is amazing!!!😃
What an intriguing place. Great opportunity for siblings to bond.
Gotta wonder if Melissa began studying your life insurance coverage when she saw this vlog. May this tour continue to be rewarding for the three of you.
Oh wow that was really neat to see. The stone, windows and iron work together was beautiful.
That's a really awsome castle
