It's fun to hear him playing an electric piano.
This is very precious, thank you so much! I love how warm and fuzzy the electric piano is too, really nice contrast from how Lehrer usually sounds.
A 1972 joke about Ronald Reagan getting control over nuclear war is kinda wild. This is the first version of this song I’ve ever hear that calls that out.
The normal lyric is about Alabama getting the bomb.
He jokes about being hailed a prophet by making the worst case predictions, but this one is oddly specific

This makes you think how many other TL performances are lost because theu haven't been digitised. Also the keyboard sounds weird.

I bet he's playing an electric piano.
In one of his relatively recent interviews, he said that he did only about 120 shows during his career.
This is not very much.
The fact that we have recordings of more than a couple of these performances is already a miracle.
@@quogeko9045 It's a Rhodes piano. Electroacoustic really (it's basically made from amplified tuning forks). They're a mainstay of huge quantities of music of the 60s and 70s. Really wonderful hearing it in Tom Lehrer's hands after, say, Riders on the Storm or Get Back.
