People with Nova should try the double flange tips its the total opposite of foam tips, foam tips smoothens the peaks making it more "timbrally correct" though a bit "dull", double flange tips moves the resonance peak further in the air region making it more "sparkly/energetic" compared to foam and silicone tips it also reduces the lower treble which most people has issues with (as it makes some vocals even shoutier). Truthear literally recommends using it in their advertisement graphs and people seems to ignore it.
What I like with the Nova is I get an option of "correctness (foam tips)" or "sparkle/coloration (white double flange tips)" by just changing the stock tips, its like switching to another IEM.
THIS is the type of stuff that latelly lacks in the hobby - peolpe just wnat ot trade this for that and doesn´t even try everything in the IEMs. And just to think that little more than a year ago filter swap and dampening was blowing minds...
What double flange tips do you recommend?
I'm new to this hobby and i dont think that any tips from any manufacturer have the right width to fit on these iems.
Thanks for this write up, just got my novas and will try this out, sound with foams tips is solid currently but still desiring more mainly the mid bass
My box come with two flanged tips one white one black. Which does Truthear suggest?
I have the Nova’s and I love them! I prefer the tuning of these IEMs as I don’t like a ton of mid bass because it tends to bleed into the midrange giving it a bloated, thick presence. The Nova just sounds smooth yet detailed and clean, as stated.
I also have the Thieaudio Legacy 4 which also measured very, very close to the Nova. The L4 has been described as lean-sounding in the midrange - which it is - but the Nova gives you much more midrange than that. I think the issue of it being too clean is perhaps a product of the recording more than the tuning. If you have some bright recordings, you’ll definitely hear it - but overall, it really smooths out the treble without losing detail.
The Nova are my definition of fun. Improvements? Well, OK, maybe the upper bass/lower midrange CAN be extended a hair but it just needs to be careful not to bleed into the meat of the midrange. That’s a complete deal-breaker for me. Otherwise, these IEMs are a complete recommendation!
did you use with silione or foam tips?
@@Viewer13128 I always use silicone tips. They last longer and they don’t muffle higher frequencies. Foams are fussy for me to get right for some reason.
you're making so many videos, and I love it!
Nothing a little bit of EQ wouldn’t help shine, if you miss a little bit of bite in the low mids!
Finallyyyy i cant afford the Blessing 3 yet still waiting for the Dusk version if ever there is one for now ill Get the Nova ✨👍
Pretty sure Crin said Blessing 3 Dusk is in the works!
@@EastPlanethe did and posted a picture of the prototype recently
That’s why I like the Kara, I rarely come across an IEM without thin-out vocals
I also love vocals recommen me best iem for a perfect vocals and a perfect bit of melodies
I'm not into a high bass and electronic music much
😭😭
These paired with a Qudilex 5K is the closest sounding bass to an L-Acoustics subwoofer I’ve ever heard from headphones (any/all types). Boosting the lowest sub-bass even more (yes, I’m one of those people), on top of the already sub-bass skewed Nova, gives that smooth bass drum kick you hear at concerts. All sub-bass slam, with very well controlled, just right, mid-bass (because boosting sub-bass with the Qudilex, inevitably boosts some mid bass). These are one of the few headphones I listen to regularly with no eq, even though these are the first I’ve ever eq’d. I just like a lot of sub-bass, but also need some technical performance on the rest of the range. (I think L-Acoustics boosts sub-bass by 15dB. +9dB sub-bass on the Nova sounds decent, any more and it is droning loud bass that mutes the energy of the mix.) I even upgraded to a balanced cable. I’m glad I did, I’m surprised my set still works after blasting sub-bass at full power on balanced (with greatly reduced full range to protect hearing). The most clean violent eardrum vibrators I’ve had, plus an actually decent overall sound quality.
I love the eq on the Qudilex 5K,. On my new Aful P5"s just add some sub bass and my god I'm a happy boy. Added sub bass and some mis boost to my S13 pro's to match the P5's but will probably drop the mid's so there will be a choice to make other wise why keep them both.
The Nova's are great looking and If I hadn't got the P5's for $155 I might have bought them.
So is this the perfect iem for EQ? I think being too clean is not a downside.
I guess the zero blue counts as fun.
It is energetic
Thanks for the perfect reveiw as I am watching a lot of reviews and this vid answered most of the questions I have. This IEM is probably the perfect to my tastes as I prefer clean, lean, as well as well as subbass over midbass and for the price, I couldn't ask more. Again, thanks for the awesome review!
I couldn’t agree more! 👍
@@housepianist My set just arrived, and this review is totally spot on and now this set is the best I have and totally hit spot on to my preferences really timmy reviews IEM well
I have the Truthear Zeros and thinking about upgrading to Novas. I really love the way Zero sounds so I wonder if Nova will be to my liking. I prefer clean, lean and subbass too but would love a bit warmth as well.@@kze_music
I’m thinking to returning my novas, I appreciate it for what it is, good detail retrieval but I would like a better balance between the mid bass and sub bass. Maybe just a bit more mid bass emphasis? Any suggestions?
@@Coolhand69 probably the EM6L could suit your tastes better
Hi, as usual i enjoy your video!,
Just one que, will these be a worth upgrade from Truthear Zero : Project Red?
I love the Red, even more than my other more expensive Fiio FD3 Pros, so I was wondering about this one as I decided to skip hexa.
Only comparison I care about is vs Chopin 😅
Like when Zeos compared the Meteor to the Rinko lol
@@LSDScreenYou know, when you put it that way...😂
I'm for it😂
why?
Nova is a bit better using foam tips, if not using those tips, chopin is slightly better.
Both are great anyways. Chopin is more comfortable, Nova is cheaper
I bought the Hexa almost a year ago on sale for $55 and been smiling ever since. Nothing has tickled my balls to buy anything else since. Perhaps the timeless 2 will. I thought about meteor or ie600 but ultimately passed.
Dang that’s a good deal
Dumb question, but... If I get uset to Audio Technica MSR7b sound signature, does it even worth of trying these Truth Ears Nova ?
When timmy said the variation kinda shouty for some people, i thought that the variation were so laid back 🥲
You are the chosen one
Lucky! I liked everything but the treble on the variations as I found it shouty and fatiguing. The build quality was very nice so kinda unfortunate that I wasn't able to keep it.
@@shinythings7 probably because i found out that the Diva is just right for me (not for the size tho, its so thicc), therefore the variations sounds just normal for me
@@halosemua2548I have found the fitment issue in a few sets and that's just made me get rid of them. Really unfortunate since they sounded good, if not great, but I can't keep something if I have to keep reseating it :(
It will be more interesting to see the opinion on this in 6 months since the hype was so hypey with this set.
I wish you could have a video about the definition of each terminology that you use. What does warm sound? What does magic sound? What does sparkly sound? There’s so much audiophile jargon for me to comprehend
Theres a bunch of other channels that explain audiophile terminology and quite well too.
A safe tuning for the peoples entering the hobby that will ensure wow factor tuning wise however the price get very close to some champions like Chopin, P5 and the likes.
Please review the kinera celeste phoenixcall !
love your work !
Would love to see the graph with the foam tips on, but great video as always
I want a headset that I can use while playing games and watching videos during my live broadcasts. I'm stuck between Zero and Nova, which one would you recommend? I don't want to waste money, hearing clearly where the players are in the games is enough for me.
I just got my Novas I’m thinking to return it for the Zero blue, I tried it on warzone and music but it’s okay. Lacks mid bass for music or maybe just needs a better balance between the mid and sub bass. Gaming wise is had great sound resolution and handles layers well but I could not really pinpoint enemies all that well.
did you try to use a 10omh adapter with the nova? wouldn't that give you abit of extra bass?
also why is the waifu pink and the iem blue?
Hobby Talks' channel talked about Impedance Adapters and in the video shows that different iems have different effects like on the Zero Red it increases the bass, but when used on the simgot em6L it tames the highs.
I've tried. It is bad.
How would these work with custom moulded earplugs ?
How well do these sound for metal? Love my variations for death/prog so I’m guessing these will follow suit?
hi timmy, sorry off topic, which eartips come with the galileo, I like the white one, I want to buy a spare pair if I missed them. thank you
How about the mic quality for phone call using whatsapp using this Truthear Nova ?
Thanks for the fair and technical review.
Really waiting for a review on kinera celest phoenix call, it has such an interesting driver configuration for the price
It’s bold, it’s fun!
In his live chat, he says he didn't like.."just all right"
is truthear nova upgrade for my truthear x crinacle zero? using it for FPS games like PUBG and CSGO.
It is
I was waiting for a comparison with your Chopin!
I gotta say, I had my eyes set on the Nova but then your Chopin came out, and I did order it but the seller (on AliExpress) didn't send it, so now I'll have to wait a few more months.
He won't talk or make any comparisons with chopin.
@@mormsophen3238conflict of interest
@@mormsophen3238 I kind of knew but somehow I wished it still 😆.
Over 2 years and Timmy still calls it Truthears 😭
Aful performer 5 or truthear nova?
i have the crinacle Red - is this a good upgrade? particularly for immersive gameplay with wide atmosphere
Get a speaker if you want wide soundstage
@@Rorensuwl8 yea no, I asked in this video (about iem) because there's a need to be private, not blasting our noise to others.
yo bro ,t3ll me is it good or not ! , should i get this one or hexa for accurate sound reproduction
Hey Timmy, have you tried the celest wyvern? I bought them recently to compare with the wan’er, and found that it has a much better fit, similar natural tone but better clarity in general!
Will you do quintet full review?
will u review ea1000 timmy?
Hey Timmy, would you go with a blue fragrance with these? BDC? YSL Blue Electrique?
I think Blue Electrique
Should I get nova or simgot em6l?
Nova
Try noble spartacus my man😢
Is it worth upgrading to nova from hexa for female vocal listening?
Imo, yes!
Great review Timmy! I personally really love the Nova. 💙
Great review thanks! Although, I doubt they will (nor should) release a "fun" IEM... Their name is Truthear after all! 😋
Thoughts on the new Zero 2?
I've never heard anyone say and IEM was too clean before.
I'm fed up with smooth treble. Is there any iem with lively treble at all on the chi-fi market?
I like them for gaming ….i use my AFUL performer 5s for music
id buy them but the way the cable looks is abysmal
"Truthear" making dead neutral iems seems appropriate to me :)))
I like Neutral sounds :)
So, someone else has the same thought as I do
Love the honesty
Got a pair on sale for 120 dollars AND DEF. WORTH IT FOR 120 DOLLARS HAHA.
Gizaudio is correct that the Nova is no Variations killer. If you like that type of signature, the Variations does it far better.
Timmy
Sorry got distracted by the must keep female voices angelic…
Great if that is the nature of a given female’s voice. Perfect.
Norah Jones sounds anemic without her earthy harmonics present.
Dianne Reeves is a phenomenal female vocalist with a tremendous vocal range. If her deeper registers aren’t supported well, that’s not good at all.
Oleta Adams an outstanding female vocalist has a beautiful tone from mild earthy on up aways.
Listening to her I want to hear the depth of her voice throughout.
Some women have some wonderful chest voice that is alluring and appealing and it would be missed if tuned out unnecessarily.
Do these vocalists strike you as sounding “husky”?
Make a review of celest phoenixcall please
I would never describe female vocals as "angelic" bec I reserve this for the young male voice (ie choirboy, etc). Female vocals are sweet yet sharp to me. While, male vocals have to be impactful and bodied for me to be happy. I don't mind if one sounds less natural or emphasized than the other but I prioritize male vocals for monitoring use while casual listening can be either.
Question: My favorite budget set is the Castor Silver from KZ which is tuned 90-95% like the Nova. Can it really sound the same? I don't own the Nova so I wanna know.
Felt the same way about the Novas, nothing really stood out to me. And after comparing them with the IE200 I found myself much preferring the Sennheisers.
Very nice review
I have them. They desperately need bass. Also they are very amp dependent.
Perfectly described.
IE200 is too small for my ears to stay in place so there can be fit issues.
At first I felt the same but after trying double flange eartips I found them to fit perfect. Using the ones that come with the Nova(lol) but I believe spinfit 240s would work.
My Nova will arrive on December 1, 2023
Fun = Yanyin Canon II 🎉

Good review, man.
But I am NOT a weeb… 😏

I wish theyd go back to the industrial design they gave the Hexa. Definitely one of the cooler looling IEMs
Why buy a headphone that is not fun? Fun is the most important factor after comfort for me. You are correct, ie-200 is fun and comfortable.
Technical performance. Basically to hear the music or whatever you're listening to as closely to the live version. Btw i hv the variations, it might not hv a satisfying mid bass but the sub bass is really good and fun tht i dont think i need tht much of a mid bass to really enjoy my music. I guess i hv the same tuning taste as timmy which focuses more on the female vocals especially when the singer hit a high note the voice echoes and melting your ears and its addictive to me. Instrument come across very clean without anything bleeding into each other just a well seperated instrument come along together making the detail more pronounced.
First again????
