I just picked up a ECSBBP Private Barrel store pick yesterday. It was $79. It's a 2024 store pick from my local store Beeline Liquor. I haven't cracked it yet. 129.9 proof.
I need to revisit since first crack five days back. I remember the heat I had heard about, and liking the Booker’s 2024-02 I got the next day more (though Booker’s releases are about $20 overpriced).
I’ve only ever bought/tried one of the EC barrel proofs, and it was a meh for me. I like the EC small batch, and enjoy higher proof whiskeys, so I was surprised at my dislike for the barrel proof. To me, the EC barrel proof is a good example of proof overreaching and ultimately hurting the taste profile instead of enhancing it. I like higher proof point bourbons-Bomberger’s 2023, Barrell Batch 031, and Bardstown Discovery #8 are a few good examples-but I believe the barrel proof/cask strength phenomenon wanders into an area of diminishing returns once you get to 120 proof and above. That’s just me. Ymmv. I enjoy your channel. 👍
Like Bookers if you’re a fan and don’t over analyze it then it’s good. We all know that whiskey is seriously over critiqued. And most of the time it’s from not so intelligent individuals just saying. But with the demand on good bourbon you’d have to expect that the distillers are having issues with keeping up. It’s not like they can whip up a ten year overnight. It’ll be years down the road to fix this issue. I know they try and predict what the market will be in the future but honestly it’s impossible to do that with fluctuations in how the markets change over the years. Will a 12-14 year ECBP ever happen again we can only hope but it’s way down the road and honestly I’ll most likely not be here to see it. And I’m okay with that I’m old and family history is against me. But again for me a so called bad Bookers is better than no Bookers. Enjoy!!

It's crazy I found this ECBP B524 at Binny's for $74.99 and their Private barrel 8-year was $79.99. Like, yes, give me B524 instead.
Nice score! And barrel picks are usually a few bucks more in most markets. That’s certainly the case in Nashville where we’re at.
How does this Batch compare to Batch B522? Got a B522 sitting in the shelf waiting to be opened.

B522 drinks more balanced and more caramel sweetness whereas this batch is hotter (it’s a LOT more proof) and more peanut buttery.

A124 was a real disappointment, but B524 is quite good - bought 5 bottles already.
A124 was the worst elijah craig that I can remember, glad to hear it is redeemed a bit in the B release.
I liked c922 more than a124 and a124 more than b523... but b524 is closer to c923 than it is to c922... it is Really good
