- 38 Special - 2024 Tour - Tuscaloosa, Alabama 05/12/2024
Opening for Rick Springfield, 38 Special brought their 2024 Tour to the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
After more than four decades together, 38 SPECIAL continue to bring their signature blast of Southern Rock to over 100 cities a year.
And at each and every show, thousands of audience members are amazed by the explosive power of the band's performance.
With sales in excess of 20 million, most associate the band with their arena-rock pop smashes, “Hold On Loosely,” “Rockin’ Into the Night,” “Caught Up in You,” “Fantasy Girl,” “If I’d Been the One,” “Back Where You Belong,” “Chain Lightnin’,” “Second Chance,” and more - Timeless hits that remain a staple at radio, immediately recognizable from the first opening chord, and paving the way to their present-day touring regimen.

Don Barnes Keeping .38 Special alive in 2024.
What happened
To Donnie Van Zant?.
@@brainstain2904
He's gone Country.
@@brainstain2904 He retired.
@@brainstain2904 retired about 10 years ago
It's always been his band..🎉
To keep on rolling the way they do ,,,, you/they have to have it totally in your/their blood. TOTALLY !!!!!!!.
SOOOOO VERY GLAD THEY ARE STILL AROUND AND HAVE NOT PASSED ON BEFORE THEIR TIME.
SO HAPPY TO SEE AND HEAR THEM ,,,, REAL GENUINE MUSIC. ❤❤❤❤❤🤗
Aren't they amazing?!? I saw them at the Texas Motor Speedway back in April. They played before the NASCAR race. I figured they'd only play a few songs, but they played an entire set. It was great!
Southern Rock still Alive and Well .🤠🤠👋👋🤘🤘🤘👆👆
I don’t care what Don calls his band! At least he’s the lead singer and the band is solid.
I do miss Danny Chauncey though
I have loved this band since the early 80's. Thanks for posting this concert. It was awesome.
I love Teacher!
Wow sure is great to hear this sure brings back memories
seen 38 live many, many times live over the last 40 years and damn, dons voice is still great for sure!
They had a lot more hits than I thought! Lots of great music that brings back memories of dating, racing, friends and weekends!
Watched 38 Special at "The Venue" at Thunder Valley in Lincoln Ca 7-19-24. I have always loved their music, Watching them live for the first time was mind blowing. The singing and music was spot on. Very talented musicians. The crowd was energized from beginning to end. Buy a ticket and watch this show. You will not be disappointed. Did I mention that Lou Gramm was the opening act? Doesn't get any better than this. It was epic. Go watch 38 Special. Thanks for coming to Lincoln California.
Thank you for posting this. They still kick ass!
I seen them in their prime late 80’s with two drummers Anchorage Alaska! Best concert I have ever seen!😉👍
damn you had some great seats!!!!
I actually learned from Joe Elliott of def Leppard that it's better about half to 3/4 back is better to hear all the frequencies of the instruments. He's right
No Chain Lightning!!! so many good songs!!! Thanks for posting, 38 Special is awesome!!
I think Chain Lightning is the best song they ever did. Criminally under rated.
"Chain Lighting" is usually an encore. I've seen them 38 times every time on the front row. I'm actually sitting dead center of this video! TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA!!! HOME OF MY BAMA BOYS.......ROLL TIDE 🐘🐘🇺🇸🇺🇸
If they were opening, there was no encore. Chained Lightning is the 1st song to start the encore.
They shouldn't be opening for anyone.
I've seen them 12x over the yrs the very first time in 79 or 80 they opened for REO and I've never gotten tired of there music I'd go to every show if I could about like seeing Skynyrd 2 of the best southern rock bands.👍🇺🇸🤙
I know a couple of them guys. Good to see them still rocking ❤ love ya Barry and Jerry.
Wow they're still rocking awesome 🎶🎵🥁🎤🎸👍
They still sound great!!!
This is the .38 Special I grew up with. They lost their way for a while with all the pop stuff. Glad to hear them still playing what made them great.
Awesome!!!
Thanks for sharing!!
Great show!! Don Barnes!!
awesome!!!!! they sound great.
Awesome performance Great Band❤❤❤ ty for uploading ❤❤😂
Saw them for the first time back in '82 with Aldo Nova. They still had the two drummers. Saw them again in the early 2000's before Van Zant left.
Privileged to see them in The Omni in 1987 Tour de Force & again at Hiawassee Ga in April 2024 . Thank you for the memories and Great Performances ! Come Back to Georgia ! Can't Wait to see you again !
Great Band ☮️
Respectable performance by Don and friends.
Don Barnes still sounds amazing, normally these guys all lose their voices.
Saw .38 Special for the first time in a benefit concert in 1975 at the old Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, FL. Don Barnes is the only remaining original member, but he's still kicking it. Keep doing it, DB.
Wow I saw these guys in Nashville when Huey Lewis and the News opened for them. Both bands were excellent and still are in book!
That was a great show (and a great recording)!!!
Outstanding
👏👏🎸🎵🎼🎶🤘
Tight as ever. Is Dons voice holding up? Gary is a amazing drummer. Bobbys backup vocals flawless. Keep rockin boys.
I feel the Blue's in their music! Thnxs 4 the share
I was at this show in T Town. 38 Special was great!
Saw them back in ‘83. Great show !
Saw them last night in Laughlin, Nevada. Great show 👏
They still sound great!!!!!! Saw them in concert 1986 !!!
I've always loved .38 Special, saw them back in the day as Opener and as a Headliner. This version of Dons Band is very tight. Kudos for doing some of Max Carls songs. Right on Don and band!
My first concert..reo n 38 think it was 1980
I’ve seen .38 Special over 30 times, I miss Donny Van Zant and the dual drummers
87 was strength in numbers I was there bon Jovi opened
I remember donnie was so short lol still have couple of my 38 special vinyl autograph by the whole band
donnie is not even on stage here,he retired!!
The first time I saw them, Bon Jovi was the opening act.
Also if ya dig and enjoyed this song by 38 Special 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. Also I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on UA-cam. 😀
Great Suggestions and words 🙌. I never heard this band or Glenn.
38 sounds very good. No doubt I miss the others. Don Barnes sounds great and looks fit.
Isn't 38 Special without Donnie Van Zant.
Sound awesome but I’m missing the double-drums and DVZ, but I’d definitely go see them if they come near me.
I miss Max Carl with them, and Mark Farner needs to go back with Grand Funk Railroad.
Happy to see Don Barnes keeping the flame burning. One of favorite bands from the 80s still kicking ass!
✌🏻 ‼️‼️‼️‼️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻‼️‼️
I think I have all the 38 special cds in my car
¿Cual es el check list?
Love these guys, Southern Rock still kicking ass since the 70's!!! Van Zant bros know how to get down!!!!
donnie van zant hasent been with the band for like 10 years now,he retired!!!only one left is don Barnes the lead singer!!!
He sounds nothing like he did back in the day. Saw them in Tulsa, with IRON MAIDEN!!
They opened for Rick Springfield???? I'm confused.
Looks like we finally figured out how to SCARE OUR KIDS….
Pretty sure we had/still have the very best MUSIC the WORLD NEEDS….
Rock on…and Thank you for keeping the MUSIC OF LIFE alive & free-spirited.
Preach it Brother!!!!
no way they should be opening for rick springfield.
😮Jerry Riggs....has Danny Chauncey retired?
I saw them in 1980. Iron Maiden opened for them. Very odd billing.
Aimè ,sono uno dei miei gruppi preferiti ,ma non sono piu i 38 special....ormai sono una cover band...E lo dico con il cuore in mano..
They sound great!
@@JWCFB guarda il concerto wild eyed and live, e o poi ne riparliamo...Don barnes è uno dei miei chitarristi e artisti preferiti, per me i veri 38 special sono fino ai primi 4/5 LP
@@andy65lynyrd62
.38 Special was The Best with These guys.
Jack Grondin, Steve Brookins, Larry Junstrum, Jeff Carlisi, Don Barnes, Donnie Van Zant and Their Back up Singers.
There's a few other Members that Deserve some Credit too.
This Line Up Kicked A$$ and Made Hits.
@@mikecunningham6154 certamente, però io sono un vero fan dei 38 special , e questa formazione non riesco a guardarla e ascoltarla.. ciao👍🏻
@@andy65lynyrd62
but you did though…..
adios,……..asshole….
Didn't do second chance?
Yes, 32:10
They are ok but nothing like they were. They really miss Jeff Carlissi. Also the two drummers were always fun. RIP Larry and missy Donnie!
are you like you
were
Simple set up
Schafft es keiner von euch Amis mal eine Playliste einzustellen?
Sorry but they really miss the original lead singer this guy just doesn’t cut it
I hope you're making a joke of some sort, because that IS the original lead singer Don Barnes 🤦🏻♂️😂. He's the only original member left. If you're talking about fellow original singer Donnie Van Zant, he retired. But he only sang a few of their songs, anyway.
how in the hell is 38 special opening for rick Springfield??damn 38 special is more popular then rick ever was and way more great songs then rick had!!no offense to rick but cmon!!!
Sorry Don but the auto tune was obvious in ‘99 at Sturgis and now its really obvious…
I don’t care they sound fantastic! If you don’t like it don’t watch.
@@JWCFB After the first verse I stopped listening.
No Auto-Tune here. Audio engineer here. There are artifacts you'd hear. And the most telling thing is that he is not on pitch in quite a lot of places - exactly like you'd expect of someone singing live - without pitch correction.
@@shawncosmos5431GOOD FOR YOU?🫵🤬😡🤢🤮💩🖕
don't listen
I’m sorry y’all, but this is not 38 special. I grew up with in the mid 70s through the early 80s just like it ain’t Lynyrd Skynyrd no more give it up Dom Barnes pursue solo career. That’s well I’m fine but do not carry on something that is fake without Carlisi and Donnie Larry Junstrom, Jack Grondin and Donnie Brookins, it’s nothing
Then get the hell out of here. They sound great!
@@JWCFB I don’t think so. You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about so you get out of here any GarageBand can sound like that because I played in a lot of them and we sounded just as good. It’s all about a money grab Jeff Carlisi Donnie Van Zandt all got there money that was due to them and moved on and I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of Don Barnes solo album but his stuff was pretty good. He could go out on tour with that, but he’s trying to cash in on the name, it’s not 38h Lynyrd Skynyrd so get your head out of your you know what little man I’m laughing all the way to the bank and I don’t see you nowhere in sight mofo
Donnie Van Zant and Steve Brookins.
Kinda of hard to carry on when people are deceased, still a good night of rockin!
This is Mr. Barnes' Legacy as much as anyone's. He is a major part of 38 Special was and is.
Fake vocals
And how do you know this 🤔
Proof? lease point out some timestamps, as I can't spot them at all
Last saw them up at Bethel Woods!! 🥳🤘🏻
