Really great idea! I just watched it and I built a miter table very similar to yours. However, I haven’t added the collapsible arms on the sides. Could you show how you did it? Can see a slow up of the hinges? Thanks!!
@@byrningi Thanks for watching! Unfortunately I didn't make any plans so I can't help too much. If you have a specific question I'd be happy to answer!
I like how you casually demonstrate your awesome and totally unexpected miter saw to planer flip top convertible station without even mentioning it in passing 🤣 If the saw overheats it should indicate as much with a specific green and red light pattern on the control box that you can look up in the manual.
the trick I have been using is bungy the shop vac hose to the drill press post, get some adjustability to get it where you need it and because it is above the foster bit as the shavings eject they somewhat get sucked into the shop vac.
Thanks Mark! That's a tricky one. The best second option in my opinion would be a router table with a fence, and you can take many passes getting the slot deeper and deeper (don't attempt to remove too much at once). Alternatively you could consider gluing three pieces together to make a sandwich, with the middle piece being smaller, to create the slot. I'm trying to think of a way to do this with a circular saw but I can't come up with anything that is both precise and safe. Hope that helps!
Awesome work on all your builds, I love the video format as is. I have a question, where do you get you get your branding irons? I've seen you use a few on your channel.
You do! Snag a planer and a jointer and you unlock the world of working with non-dimensional lumber. You can chop down your own damn tree and build a table!
Look for a makerspace or similar skills shop where you can use tools like these. Depending on where you are it can be anywhere from free to use, to $10/hr.

Rick Hall thanks! I used long piano hinges for the supports. They were a little expensive but work great for this application.
Would love more info on your flip-top mitre-saw/planer cart - have been looking for a design for that exact combo

@@dkbuilds how much clearance did you leave for the tools to flip, and what system did you use for locking the flip-top and mitre-saw wings in place?

Yeah. I backed that bit up and watched it several times. I'm not seeing a how-to or anything elsewhere on the channel. Is there a video about that?
I designed it myself and didn’t film a video, which I really regret. I may make another soon and if I do, I’ll definitely make a video about it!
Yes plz do , I know a few ppl ( me included ) that need to save space in the shop
@@dkbuilds uh, yeah, count me in as interested in that planer/mitre table. That'd be amazing for a small shop.
Nice video but I'm more impressed with the compact workshop, fantastic!
Thanks, Singha! Hard to share a workshop with a car but I make it work!
Now that is a brilliant little idea!💡👌😃
Thanks!!
Good video. Well done! Thank you for putting your video on UA-cam.
Thanks Anthony! And thanks for watching!
very well done, easy to follow tutorial. Awesome stuff. Subscribed.
Thanks for the kind words, and welcome to my channel! Glad to have you :)
Nice

Good idea thanks! I'll have to try that
Great work David. Do you have any suggestions on how to make the slot for the match box without a table saw?

Great video, but be carefull with wood and candles.
A similar project of mine once caught fire, because the metal part of the candle got too hot.
I agree. You could drill a quarter-of-an-inch deeper, then smoosh a layer of clay in there, to make it more heat-resistant.
Danish Oil Flash Point: 106 F
Good to know! Is this for the oil in liquid form, or after it has dried and cured on a wood surface?
Thanks for the comment! I will do some flame tests before giving these out as gifts!
@@dkbuilds Curious what the results were before I undertake this project. Sorry, don't want to be an unsuspecting arsonist! :-)
Awesome work on all your builds, I love the video format as is. I have a question, where do you get you get your branding irons? I've seen you use a few on your channel.
Thanks for watching! I have bought two branding irons from a company called Gearheart Industry and I've been very satisfied with them.
@@dkbuilds great, thank you!
I love it, but the flame/heat wood thing. A little scary. Maybe a small glass enclosed candle or a battery op flickering fake candle.
Great idea with a flickering fake candle. Thanks for sharing!
How did y make the branding iron plz for your logo
I bought it from a company called Gearheart Industries
this looks fun. now, to convince my wallet that I need a planer!

If you don't want to pay the DeWalt prices, the Porter Cable planer works a treat and is a bit cheaper
3:54 Did you forget to turn on the suction?
I had it on! The shopvac just wasn't powerful enough I think.
Im from switzerland and damn your machines are so small and unsafe if compared to our standards... LOVE IT😉
What happened to ur saw?
I think I screwed up when I rewired it from 110 to 220v... fixing it now!
It's not easy if you don't have the equipment.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Floe Simmons This can be made with a handsaw, cordless drill and chisels if you lack the power tools but have plenty of free time and energy 🙂
shops entirely too neat and tidy....over achiever!
The trick is having just the right balance of OCD, and of sharing the workshop with a car :D
I just need 20k worth of tools. Wow, easy
Cheapest table saw + hand drill + forstener bit = $200. But yeah I guess 20k is approximately correct.

But then you won't have money left over for the candles and matches LOL
Ok
