@@fangyongguo7694 Heterophony is slightly different, heterophony is a type of texture characterized by the simultaneous variation of a single melodic line. Such a texture can be regarded as a kind of complex monophony in which there is only one basic melody, but realized at the same time in multiple voices, each of which plays the melody differently, either in a different rhythm or tempo, or with various embellishments and elaborations. I would describe the "question and answer" style you refer to is usually described as polyphonic.
This was really helpful! I know this was about texture and structure, but I was just wondering what the styles and periods were for each piece, as well as their composers?
@@MusicOnlineUK good one, you got me. Okay here goes 1st- Classical, Possible Composer: Mozart. Due to its homophonic texture with a dominant melody, use of Alberti bass, regular phrase length etc. 2nd- Romantic, Possible Composer: Schubert. Due to the range used across the piano, and how the piece is defined by its lyrical melodic lines. 3rd- Classical, Possible Composer: Clementi. Due to its simple melody with some use of ornamentation with a chordal accompaniment. 4th- Baroque, Possible Composer: Scarlatti. Due to the use of 2 part harmony, clear articulation and limited piano range. AHHH please be kind
All of your videos are so good! In the exam though, some of the structure questions are on identifying the phrase structure, but your video didn't cover it in the video. Could you make another video on this or tell me how to do it? I have been trying to find something online to help me but without success. Thank you so much, you have helped a lot already
I thank you very much for the offer, but I think that I have found the necessary information online. I think that it is amazing you reply to every single comment you get so promptly. Thank you once again for you help
Thick or Thin are only the most basic answers, you should try to give a little more information in the exam as mentioned in the example answers in this video. It may be the case that the texture varies through the extract and you need to describe this change. Try to think of texture as a sandwich, don't just describe how many layers in your sandwich, but also what kind of layers, (what type of bread/filling)
+Lil Panda Yes, they will tell you what things to look out for, but not the exact question. For example, dynamics (in general) and texture. There will always be two areas covered.
+Lil Panda There isn't a third one, just two categories. OK, sometimes ONE category might have a two part question sometimes, but only ever two categories.
This really helped me a lot. My exam is tomorrow and this video calmed me down a little.
Good luck. Let me know how it goes.!!
Wow this is really helpful! My exam is tomorrow, if only I had found out about this sooner!
Good Luck !! Let me know how you get on.
I need more work in this area. BTW, the last piece is one of the pieces I will be playing for my grade 6. I think the whole tune I learn is ABA.
Brilliant. Love your clear, thorough teaching style. Many thanks!
Thanks for you're feedback.
I just love how you always replies to everyone's comments! 🙂
Because this channel is to help real people.
Also, I wanted to ask a question. In classical music, there is a common theme of question and answer. Could this be basically called hetreophonic?

Hi, thankyou for making this video.
You're welcome.
Do they usually tell you what questions you will be asked before starting?
+Lil Panda Yes, they will tell you what things to look out for, but not the exact question. For example, dynamics (in general) and texture. There will always be two areas covered.
MusicOnline UK so they will tell you two questions asked but not the third one?
+Lil Panda There isn't a third one, just two categories. OK, sometimes ONE category might have a two part question sometimes, but only ever two categories.
MusicOnline UK ok thank you very much, this helped me a lot
