    To RTH:
Take a second look at the bottom two comparison rows, at 4 minutes, 3 seconds. Are you sure that the comparison row for "Five-Point Calvinism" should be labeled that way? Or, if so, that the row above it ("Possibility of SAVED people apostatizing," emphasis added) should be labeled the way IT is?
What the UPCI teaches about "saved" people apostatizing does not seem compatible with a claimed belief in the Perseverance of the Saints, unless they are defining "saved" merely to mean "outwardly-appearing to be saved, in the eyes of others" and not "known/elect to be saved in the eyes of God."

Oneness makes perfect sense to me. I've never understood the Trinity stuff. The bible has been perfectly clear since the bronze age time of the Patriarchs. There is only One God. One individual. One personality. If we are confused by a lot of the terminology that Jesus used in describing himself that is fine, (even when He walked the earth people were confused about who and what he was) but if I had to err regarding terminology I would always err on the side of strictly believing in only One Individual God. Jesus is the almighty God of the Old Testament manifested in flesh, he walked the earth in human form, Almighty God was the soul and spirit that inhabited the physical body of Jesus as he walked and ministered, and Almighty God/Jesus is the Holy Spirit that inhabits us when we are filled at salvation. One God...One Individual.

    • @noahmarx8297
      @noahmarx8297 2 роки тому

The Methodists are the ones who talk about entire sanctification. Entire sanctification is a post-baptism state of 'Christian perfection', wherein one totally accepts the spirit and loves their neighbor so completely that they no longer sin. It's usually held to be a temporary state, but it doesn't have to be. Look up 'Wesleyan theology' if you're curious, I won't pretend to know all about it.

Thanks, Noah! I was aware of Wesleyan theology talking about post-baptismal sanctification, although I wasn't aware of them using that particular phraseology.
I guess what confused me was someone talking about "the necessity" of such a thing. Necessity...for what? For salvation?
Does any Christian group teach that a person must, after baptism, also achieve a state of total ongoing sinlessness? I'm confident the Methodist church at which I served as a musician for many years didn't teach THAT.
So, I will look up "Wesleyan theology" as you recommend. But at the moment, I remain skeptical that Wesleyans as a whole, or any other large Christian group, are teaching a "necessity" of "entire" sanctification in this life for salvation -- which seems to best fit the wording of the RTH question.

But the Original Orthodoxy was Modalist Monarchian. Held the Bishopric of Rome , IGNATIUS was Monarchian per his writings in the middle recension. The issue is that true atonement cannot be accounted for in the oneness view since they believe Jesus is the Father.
      1. The incarnation is temporary in their view. No hypostatic union. Stark difference from the Trinity.
      2. They don't believe Jesus is truly interceding for us today, before the Father, as it states in Hebrews. This is an important part of salvation.
      3. They don't have a unified definition on what happened to Jesus after he ascended. Dr. David Bernard teaches that the human spirit of Jesus was absorbed by the Father and therefore the spirits merged in heaven.
      4. In order for oneness to make sense, we have to commit a few heresies...nestorianism, patripassianism,
      monophysitism.
      5. The semantics may appear the same, but the underlying definitions, unfortunately, lead to error.

Father God could not of asked Abraham to make a covenant and use Isaac, because one covenant member cannot ask something of the other that he cannot currently provide.”
My life was forever changed. I was instantly set free from the bad theology and broke out in laughter in the Spirit.
I will say I have seen and experienced so much of the Holy Spirit with miracles, signs, and wonders since leaving the UPC.
A long time ago I attended Gateway bible college in St. Louis. I still remember in basic bible doctrine calls the teacher Blackburn stated and had the class repeat “There are no new revelations! There are no new revelations! There are only new illuminations. The Canon is closed! There are no new revelations!”
The truth is nothing could be further from the truth. If there are no new revelations then God is dead and not talking. In that simple statement and ideology, it is very clear to see that the UPC has no idea who or what the Holy Spirit is.
God is good and He has never stopped speaking to His children. God does talk and instruct us through his written Word, but Holy Spirit will lead and guide us in all paths of life.
The UPC miss represents Matthew 7:21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Jesus says “I never knew you.” He doesn’t say. You did not have the correct revelation of what was stated in my Word. He doesn’t say you did not talk in tongues enough. You had too many sins on you. Or anything like that. He says “I never knew you.” So if there is no new revelation then how can we get to know someone who is alive if they don’t talk and say new things today?
Anyway, God is so much bigger than the very small box the UPC puts Him into. Ask God to show more of Himself to you. He is only good and He will do just that.

@@bornagainsaint6923 Hopefully I can answer on behalf of the Church, though if my answer has imperfections they are mine and not the Church's. The basic belief of the Orthodox Church is known as Theosis. It essentially means to become gods by grace. That may sound scary so hopefully I can protestantize it for you. The idea is that mankind was made in the image and likeness of God in order to rule over the world on God's behalf. This, of course, went awry when Adam fell and man became distanced from God's Grace. However, it is through the God-man Jesus Christ that human nature was restored. This restoration of human nature allows for man to receive the Sprit of God and then work with the Spirit, which is salvation. This is a sort of replication of the God-man within us, though we can never be ontologically God, we can be "adopted" as his sons, in the image of the Father's only Son. So in this sense it is the cooperation with God that constitutes salvation, as opposed to cooperation with God is obtains or "earns" salvation. We would also add that the good works produced in salvation are of God, which we obtain through his Holy Spirit through faith and repentance, though these words may not be used in the exact same way as in the west.

@@JamaicanHopscotchMafia , I think i agree with you, not quite sure
Let's see if you agree with me. Salvation is by God's grace and mercy Through faith in what Jesus Christ did on the Cross, His death, shedding of blood for sin and His resurrection. So basically when you hear the gospel and you Repent and Believe by faith you are Born Again ( John 3.3) Spiritually the Holy Spirit dwells in You, You are now a new creature or creation in Christ Jesus. I like to quote God's Word, so I'll use EPHESIANS 2.4-10:
But God, who is rich in Mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive Together with Christ ( by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in ages to come He might show the exceedingly riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
For by Grace You have been Saved Through Faith, and that not of Yourselves, IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD, NOT OF WORKS, LEST ANYONE SHOULD BOAST. FOR WE ARE HIS WORKMANSHIP, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS FOR GOOD WORKS, WHICH GOD PREPARED BEFOREHAND THAT WE SHOULD WALK IN THEM.
You notice the past tense in " you have been saved" Salvation is yours when you Repent and believe through faith in What Jesus Christ did for us. If you notice Jesus Christ had a Repentance ministry, just like the prophets and apostles. The Gospel or Good News is so easy to understand but Religion complicates it with rituals, traditions, and sacraments.
