This video was a great idea, wish I had this video about a year ago, I also had to pick kind of 'blind' for my AT myself. In the end I went with a pro city bag and I am very happy with it. Not so big that its in the way with normal riding, and can just throw all electronics (including camera) and important documents in there when traveling, plus some snacks on the go. The side bags are great to just put some coins in so you can quickly grab it if you need to pay toll or some drinks. Also like the passthrough cable for USB. Makes it possible to charge battery banks/cameras and all stuff in the bag whilst riding. I dont like the waterproof cover very much. It doesn't fit on the bag very nicely, and if its not on their solid you risk it coming off from riding wind (happened once whilst riding, kind of a dangerous situation). If I would choose again, I probably would go for the WP, as I havent used the expandable functionality much, and dislike the waterproof cover of the non-WP. Although I dont like how the side pocket zip goes all the way around. Makes it easy to lose stuff that you put inside.
Nice job Tony! I have the standard Pro Micro on my GS and it's a brilliant piece of gear. The Pro-Tank ring system is well thought out. I beieve this is the best system on the market. The molle system on the top lid is excellent for mounting a phone in a holder or sleeve in a vibration free mounting solution. And all of these bags look handsome on the bike!
These are essential for going on tours across Europe. Driving licence, passport etc, wallet, sunglasses and a 2nd pair of gloves ie waterproof/lightweight. I heartedly recommend them
Mrs & I have used SW Motech kit for years. The quick release tank bags are excellent. We have the old mini to use on a day ride, then the bigger bags for tours. We are also long-time users of Blaze panniers on both our bikes.
They are all nice while you keep on the tarmac. A few hundred km in dirt and the release mechanism gets stuck. Mine got stuck in a offroad trip and couldn’t get the bag off the bike… Had to force it.
nice overview, love mine specially the locking mechanism , wish they will come out with some locking mechanism for rear top bag, just hate the straps and soft luggage sells would go off the charts thank you, V!
Nice info on the range Tony. Love the finish on the wp bags. The tank bags aren't for me (BMW 1200 RS)-gets in the way with the riding position but i'm definitley looking at the SW Motech tail bags. 👍🏼
I've not seen tank bags that big before! Maybe too big, but interesting. Good kit. If they made the tank ring on a bracket or strap you could put on your seat or pannier/top box, you could clip it in more than one place.. Ride safe 👍
I bought myself a pro tankring with the intention to then look for a suiting bag.. however, these prices. The original bmw gs tankbag, 11 to 15 liters, is just 60€. Considering selling the tankring again.
Another great video. I hope you get some commission from SW. Two questions from me. 1. Are the bags secure enough when riding on gravel and fire trails? 2. Do they have a USB cable hole so the phone can be stored in the bag and connected to the USB port.
Did I understand it correctly that all of the tankbags in the Pro-series come with that kind of "rail" at the bottom, so you can move the base back and forth into the best position for your tank? I am looking at either the Engage, the City or the Sport but was unsure how they would fit on my tank. Not just because of shape but also because of the length of the tank and the placement of the fuel cap. So this would help massively :)
Hi, thanks for the info on the HD Pan America model on the Engage model…dont suppose your friend tried any of the larger models on it…as I can’t seem to get much info on fitment elsewhere …thanks !
The only lock option for these really is a padlock similar to what you’d use on a suitcase. However they can be locked to the bike using an internal pin system that SW-Motech sell
Tony. I love my SW- Motech tank bags. I still need a tail bag, but I’m hoping they come out with a quick release one soon 👍. I want to be able to use my day bag or micro on my T100 also along with the tiger . Do you know if the pro seat ring will work for the tank of a T100?
Hi Tony I am about to buy a K1600 GT and wonder if S W Motech do a bag for this 2022 model. Fitting tank bags to this bike is tricky as the handle bars are different to other bikes and a normal fitting tank bag would clash with these. Hopefully S W Motech has this covered so I will look forward to your reply. Nice vid as usual. Many thanks Peter
Hello, I love these bags. I was thinking of the getting the Pro city or Pro GS. The only thing I am worried about is the handles touching the bag at full lock. Have you had a lot of trouble with that ? Seems like a minor thing for you, just curious this will be my first tank bag. Thank you
The city does touch the bars at full lock, but its not a problem. Occasionally it knocks the DCT into neutral, but to be fair i should be doinf that anyway when manhanding the bars
Can you use the MOLLE on the SW-Motech bags to for example use an older existing luggage system like the Kriega US-20?? Sounds crazy I know but just curious. More for tail bags I guess but.
There is yes, an ingenious pin system that can disable the pull mechanism. You can also add a padlock to the zips, but that’ll only stop the opportunist thief.
They all look a bit weird on an adventure bike. And then , they are not very handy on a Triumph Tiger 900. You need to take them off everytime you want to insert your ignition key. This is even the case for the micro version
@@mancavemoto I’ve always wondered what stops them being stolen or do you have to take them with you. Or is a leg bag better. I’ve been wondering what’s best to keep the keys phone and wallet in when the helmet and jacket are in the top box
You can lock these onto the bike, but they wouldn’t be difficult to break into rather than steal. That’s why the clip on clip off ones are good, you just pop it off and take it with you

Best video on UA-cam for working out which SW motech bag you need. Like all your videos.
Excellent SW-Motech overview Tony.
Perfect, this is exactly what I'd been looking for. Short and to the point.
Glad it was helpful
Extremely helpful to see them all in one place like this, Tony, thanks. I’ve gone with the Yukon for my 1250GS.

Thanks 👍

I currently have 4 pro tank bags, micro, daypack & engage plus the Yukon WP. Absolutely love them.
I have the micro but find it too small. Is the Yukon worth the extra space?
@@G91YS for me yes, plus the fact it is waterproof without a cover is a bonus
Nice one Tony. Probably the best tank bags in the World.
Great vid as always . Love SW Motech stuff . Had the Pro GS and now got the Pro City WP and Pro Mini WP.
Brilliant kit.

Some nice bags there, and not bad prices either. (Do you get to keep them all?) hehehe. Love the quick snap, release features. Great review video!
Indeed, sadly not they are all back in a box waiting to be collected. Cheers!

They do have tank ring adapters that you can strap to the pillion seat, or bolt to the rear rack!
Didn't know that. @@mancavemoto
Great video and cool beard
Thanks & Thanks!
Hi! Thank you for the useful review. I wonder if any of those bags can carry a 14 inch macbook or even a 15 inch one…
Unfortunately not, I’ve tried and it’s just the wrong shape for any of them

Yes thats correct
Great review of their range. Do you know the differences/advantages of the Pro range over the older Evo range?
I think the main difference is that the pro range have the magnetic tank ring.
thanks for this vid
No problem
@@mancavemoto for africa, should I get DCT or Quick Shifter to save some money?

He didn't no, after trying the Engage, he was sold. Perfect for what he wanted
Thank you so much. Is there any tank bags can be locked?
The only lock option for these really is a padlock similar to what you’d use on a suitcase. However they can be locked to the bike using an internal pin system that SW-Motech sell
Useful video. My experience of SW-Motech generally is that it's first rate gear. Which size would fit a modular/full face crash helmet?
You won’t be able to get a helmet into any of these. Possibly a XS in the GS, but it’d be a squeeze.

Hi Peter, as far as i can see they don't list the K1600 on their website!
I imagine the gs also hits the handlebar/horn/dct?
Quite possibly, but it won't of course put the bike in neutral!
Any chance of a bit more on the molle feature?
Sure, I was thinking of doing a further accessory feature at. Some point. But there’s other videos on the channel that demonstrate it
Cheers, I'll have browse about 👍🏼

Yep, if it will fit on a Molle base it should work, although I’ve not tried it
I’m guessing the city version you have would suit the new Transalp well
Yes it would, I’ve laid it on the tank without fitting a ring, and it looks really good.
@@mancavemoto awesome Thanks
great vid tony and some nice gear
Good review good products but is there any facility for securing them against theft?👍
There is yes, an ingenious pin system that can disable the pull mechanism. You can also add a padlock to the zips, but that’ll only stop the opportunist thief.
Is there a problem with switching N with WP version also or just with regular?
All of the 'PRO' bags use the same tank ring, so are interchangeable.
@mancavemoto Tnx but I was reffering to bag size. WP version also hit Neutral on bike when manevaring?
OK, no the side pouches are not as rigid
Nice tank bag
Tony what is the name of the phone case you attached with t-lock? Can't find it online anywhere
It’s on the SW-Motech site, search for ‘smartphone Drybag for Molle’ 👍
Hi, do these work on the bmw ce 02?
You can check availability for bikes on their website. Put all the model details in and it’ll show you all the products they make that will fit

And then , they are not very handy on a Triumph Tiger 900. You need to take them off everytime you want to insert your ignition key. This is even the case for the micro version
Side on is never the best angle to be fair. Thats because the ignition is rider side of the top yoke?
@@mancavemotoYes, rider side of the top Yoke and just in front of the fuel tank, about 10 cm in front off fuel cap.
Hello! Does a 14-inch laptop fit in any of those bags?
