Just had mine few days ago as SW Motech had €30.00 discount and my tank ring was more expensive due to my screwless fuel cap on my Aprilia Tuono 1100 Factory V4. Outstanding quality of service from SW Motech package included a free mug ang key ring.. Tank bag is fantastic quality and the new mounting system is brilliant.. Showed him your video and he was very excited. Here in Canada we don't have the new line of bags yet but when Fortnine gets some in we both are ordering a bag and ring each. Best thing SW did by having you show us how they changed the bag. Cheers!

Great video, very well done. I've been using the SW-MOTECH EVO tank bags for years and love 'em. I do indeed double/triple check that the tank bag is indeed properly attached each time after fueling up, as I've read nightmare stories about the tank bag coming off when not properly attached. The new SW-MOTECH PRO tank bags looks like a MUCH better mousetrap. No more drilling holes in the bottom of the tank bag to perfectly place the tank bag on a particular bike. Even the adjustable tank release strap is a big improvement, not to mention the much easier to use magnetic tank ring. These new tank bags are going to cost me a lot of money! :) :) :)

Hey Andy We had a blast making it! Think it's nice just to do something relaxed with a few pints, and talk about biking....I'm sure we'll do it again👍😜
It looks nice and made of good quality just I feel like you can't put heavy stuff there like small hand tools though this is an issue with all tank bags.
I like the fact you showed the tank bag outside on the bike. I'm interested in taking my Canon 5D Mkiii + 24-70mm Lens. Not sure it would fit in this bag though?
Looking good! Like the styling and the colors are perfect for my bike. Now I have a Givi tankbag with ring, but that ring is much bigger so it looks al little sully without the bag, and you can't move the mounting point. But it works perfectly.
It's a really well thought out design! Looking forward to getting my hands on the full range, where I'll go a bit more in depth to show all the angles etc.
Its has a slightly smaller profile compared to the previous generation, but I only found that to be more of an issue on the smallest Micro tank bag. Never noticed it on the larger bags👍😜
Nice informative vid thankyou. So impressed I've just bought the very thing. Again, was looking at the 'outgoing' model until i came across your lowdown on the new bag so perfect timing. I have a 1250 GS and love the look of the GS specific bag but way too big for regular day trips I feel. Great for touring but I just want something handy and inobtrusive to stash the cash and essentials. I do hope it doesn't look a pigs ear on the tank as some do. Oh well at least I'll have the tank ring ready if i move up to the GS bag later.....
@@thelikeablerider8800 Hi mate, went with the Daypack just really because its extra capacity will be useful. I don't need the kitchen sink in there but access to lifes small essentials are better off in a small bag in front of me I reckon. I ride a lot at the moment without pillion and the hard luggage stays off for a while. The only non Touratech piece of kit but the quality looks good and most reviews are appealing. Not having to drill holes looks to be the real Brucey!
Having the pull cord at the front would work on the smaller bags, but probably not so feasible on the larger ones, especially the bags that hang further down over the front of the tank.
I like that style of adjustment! Way better than drilling. Also that the whole top zips open instead of having an inch on each side so you have to force bigger items in. I know the new ring is a magnetic style, but will the old rings still work with the new attachment?
What a great video, I've been interested in a tank bag but wasn't quite sure how they attach, very impressed with how they connect with the magnetic system. Thanks for explaining how they work 👍👌.
I’ve used the same older model SW tank bag for years on three bikes over 200 000 kilometers in both freezing and blistering hot weather through jungles, across deserts and along highways. Never one fail. Because it’s hard for me to believe a product could be much better, my only question is how water resistant is the new model?
TheLikeableRider. That’s been my experience too, but if I were to dig up a complaint it would be that it requires a rain cover. When this new model was unpacked did it have a rain cover, or is it marketed as sufficiently water resistant without a cover?
They look well made !. Ive got the Givi tank bags on my GT which seem well made too, the only concern being that if adjusted a little bit too far forward, same with the SW one too probably, is it gets bloody hard to operate the ignition key !!. Youre garage looks like a shop !!!. Cheers.
Thanks for the comment Roger! I haven't had an issue with reaching the ignition key! Sure you have to reach around the bigger tank bags, and I have to anyway because of my phoned mounted on the handlebars. Every bike is different of course😜
Will the last generation bags fit on the new mount? I have the SW Motech City for longer rides, but was looking to get the day pack size one. If i can use the old bag, as well as the new, on the new mount it would be great
Great review. I’ve seen some concerns about the magnets affecting camera memory cards and credit cards. Have you any experience of that? Read somewhere that it was mentioned in fitting instructions. Thanks.
Thanks Nigel No I've never had an issue! I did email SWMOTECH with the issue that people were concerned with, and they also assured me that the magnets won't effect cards.
The way you now attach the base plate without drilling is a huge step. The drilling always put me off previously. Do you know if this system will also move to the evo range? Looking forward to seeing the rest of the range.
TheLikeableRider Do you happen to know when the other sizes in the range will become available as this daypack is the only size on their website to buy?
Great video!! I am thinking about getting the Molle phonecase drybag in combination with the micro tankbag. Do you think you can see the phone well while riding? Or is it better to have a phone holder on the steering wheel? Thanks!
Hi You can see the phone fine! I don't like mounting phones on the handlebars anymore, as theres too many vibrations, so ontop of the Tankbag is great.
I can’t see on SW Motech site how accessories to this bag work, or how they can be locked on? I’ve now written to SW M. asking about their the Tablet Drybag for MOLLE System Black.
They do have a good level of water resistance without the rain cover, and tbh I only use the rain cover in persistent heavy downpours, but yes a rain cover is still provided👍😜
Great video, decided to subscribe,! I plan to buy a new pro model soon in a medium/large size for weekend trips. Will my old SW tank-bag a small day pack also attach to the new mounts ? If the new rinds accept the old models? I would then have 2 sizes depending on length of trip . Many riders already have older models and would be great to still use them with the new rings.
Will there be an electric version of the new pro tank bags in the future? I use the electric version of the Evo Daypack at the moment, but I really like the look of the new mounting system instead of drilling holes and the magnets are a great idea.
Very useful video. A quick question - can this bag be fitted the other way round as well? Or is it meant to only be mounted in the direction in the video?
@@thelikeablerider8800 Got it... going to try to play around with the one I have and revert. I've been struggling to access the release on my Tiger 800 since the risers bring the bar closer to the bag. Will also try adjusting the base plate forward/back like you did. I actually didn't do that fine-tuning before starting to use this. Will revert. Cheers
So flipped the baseplate the other way. It fits either way on the Tiger 800. Flipped the mounting plate (bottom of tank bag) as well. So the bag continues to be mounted the correct way (opening towards the rider) and the release now operates in the direction of the seat, which is what I wanted. Only sub-optimal outcome is that the red tape now enters the bag at the seat end and then travels thru the entire inside of the bag and then gets to the clip on the other end of the inside.
Very cool, I do lime that new mounting mechanism, really practical. Looks great on the bike too. I’m just about to change my current bag so this one is definitely on the list. Thanks for sharing.
@@thelikeablerider8800 thank you, I thought so, bust just to check...is always that compromise of travalling light but taking you electronic equipment with you ;-) Cheers.
Great review:) Really interested to see the PRO Engage version as it's the one that seems to have undergone the biggest change in terms of its internal storage space.
Hi... bit late to this review, but looking at buying one of these soon. Was wondering if you've had any issues re the proximity of magnets to cameras/mobile phones/memory cards that you may carry in the bag? Or maybe I'm just over-thinking it! Cheers! 👍
Hi That's a worry and frequently asked question by many! No I haven't had any issue with the magnets, I also passed on the question to SWMOTECH, and they confirmed the same.
Hi mate, the previous daypack had the option of putting a locking pin into the release mechanism to stop it being removed off the bike. Does the new PRO version have this?
Great video and defo interested in their range. They did a fantastic and tidy “powered” ring which you could power phones etc. from as the power feed went straight into the tank ring; have SW Motech stopped those now?🤔
I have asked them same question and response was that they decided to stop making electric tank ring as most bikes have now power socket around cockpit.
I saw there are two pro daypacks one 1 litre bigger and says its magnetic. Is this without attaching with the fuel cap ring? What do you think about this one, do you have a video with this model / recommend it?
Yes the magnetic one is an option for those who don't have a filler cap on the tank. I haven't had one to test personally but I've seen it in use on a friends bike That being said, if you do have a filler cap then the magnets wouldn't work to their full potential, so I'd advise you to secure it to your filler cap.
No I wouldn't recommend the Pro Sport for your bike, as its fairly large and has a flat base. The Pro City would be better, it's also large but the base is curved and fits better to the contours of sloped tanks. The Engage, Daypack, and Micro would also be an option, although smaller👍
Shame they don't lock as standard really. Means you have to carry it with you everywhere when often you'd rather leave it on the bike. I have the old one and there's a rather naff locking add-on extra for it - what's the locking solution for these new ones?
They'd would have to know how to get it off, isn't always obvious! We're lucky here in Germany that theft isn't really a big issue, I can quite happily leave a lot of stuff on the bike when stopping off.
Could you please confirm the colour of the highlights on these bags? On the SWM website, they look red, but on this video they appear more orange, matching your KTM. Thanks :)

Yeah that's a tricky one! I had a similar problem as I attached the tankbag to the bike without even connecting the string🤦♂️I was able to reconnect the string while it was still on the bike, it's a bit of a fiddle but it's doable.
The new ones look like an improvement in design and function. Don’t think I can justify upgrading from the older ones though at the moment. Just watched the Brew time video you did so funny. A question for you , am thinking of purchasing the orange brake and clutch covers, do you find they reflect a lot in sunny weather and distract the eye. Top videos 👍
It comes with a fully waterproof rain cover, but I've never had an issue with water getting in without it, bike depending of course! My screen protects the bag while riddig in the rain, only becomes an issue when I stop, but the bag itself has a good level of water resistance.

It doesn't have its own pocket, but you can shake it out and stow it where you like.
excellent bag but is it equipped with a carrying strap? When you get off the bike do you carry it by hand?
No shoulder strap on this one, but has a carrying handle! It's possible the larger bags have a shoulder strap.
Thanks for the review! Do you think a reflex camera can fit into the Pro Daypack?
My Nikon does, and don't forgot you can increase the volume if you need to take other bits and Bob's with you.
@@thelikeablerider8800 Thanks mate! I guess you have to put it in something in case of rain. The tankbag doesn't seems to be waterproof :)
Does the day tank bag have the facility to hold a map cover?
Hi Colin
Yes the tablet/map cover will fit to the top👍
@@thelikeablerider8800 do you have a recommenced seller?
SWMOTECH have them on their website👍
Will the last generation bags fit on the new mount? I have the SW Motech City for longer rides, but was looking to get the day pack size one. If i can use the old bag, as well as the new, on the new mount it would be great
Couldn't tell you for sure, but I'd say no as you'd have to fit the new baseplate on the new bag, not sure that would work.
Great review. I’ve seen some concerns about the magnets affecting camera memory cards and credit cards. Have you any experience of that? Read somewhere that it was mentioned in fitting instructions. Thanks.
Thanks Nigel
No I've never had an issue!
No it's a different system to the Evo range and also not compatible with each other. The new Pro range is the way to go in my opinion!
TheLikeableRider Thanks, I think you’re right 👍
TheLikeableRider Do you happen to know when the other sizes in the range will become available as this daypack is the only size on their website to buy?
They told me all being well sometime in June, latest July👍
Great video!! I am thinking about getting the Molle phonecase drybag in combination with the micro tankbag. Do you think you can see the phone well while riding? Or is it better to have a phone holder on the steering wheel? Thanks!
Hi
You can see the phone fine! I don't like mounting phones on the handlebars anymore, as theres too many vibrations, so ontop of the Tankbag is great.
@@thelikeablerider8800 thanks for your very quick answer! I am going to try it out👍
great review m8, got the givi version, but on my gixxer 1000 no use. think I will invest in this one. thx.
You're more than welcome John!
I can’t see on SW Motech site how accessories to this bag work, or how they can be locked on?
I’ve now written to SW M. asking about their the Tablet Drybag for MOLLE System Black.
They're attached to the Molle patch on top of the tank bags👍😜
Like the new design of the bag and the fitting mechanism. Are they waterproof so you can do away with those useless rain covers?
They do have a good level of water resistance without the rain cover, and tbh I only use the rain cover in persistent heavy downpours, but yes a rain cover is still provided👍😜
Great video, decided to subscribe,! I plan to buy a new pro model soon in a medium/large size for weekend trips. Will my old SW tank-bag a small day pack also attach to the new mounts ? If the new rinds accept the old models? I would then have 2 sizes depending on length of trip . Many riders already have older models and would be great to still use them with the new rings.
Hi Jonathan
No unfortunately combining old with new aren't compatible with one another.
Hi. Will this new bag and mount fit onto the older style tank ring, without magnet assistance of course?
No unfortunately they are not compatible 🤷♂️
@@thelikeablerider8800 Thanks. Shot for the video :)
Will there be an electric version of the new pro tank bags in the future? I use the electric version of the Evo Daypack at the moment, but I really like the look of the new mounting system instead of drilling holes and the magnets are a great idea.
Great question! I'll fine out for you
Sorry no plans to develop the electric versions into the Pro range.
Thats a shame, thanks for your speedy reply though, appreciated. Look forward to watching your review of the full range.
Very useful video. A quick question - can this bag be fitted the other way round as well? Or is it meant to only be mounted in the direction in the video?
I'd say not possible. In theory you could mount the baseplate on backwards, but then you'll have issues with the release cord.
You're welcome m8
Hi. Do you think a DSLR will fit with a GoPro+ acessories, or it will be small? Thank you.
Might be a bit of a squeeze, possibly if you remove the lens.
Will definitely let you know👍😜
Can I get a link to the tool you're using at 6:22?
Thank you for an excellent review………as a result I purchased one, looking forward to using it on a Swiss tour in the summer
Awesome thank you, happy to help👍😜
Hi... bit late to this review, but looking at buying one of these soon. Was wondering if you've had any issues re the proximity of magnets to cameras/mobile phones/memory cards that you may carry in the bag? Or maybe I'm just over-thinking it! Cheers! 👍
Hi
That's a worry and frequently asked question by many! No I haven't had any issue with the magnets, I also passed on the question to SWMOTECH, and they confirmed the same.
@@thelikeablerider8800 thanks... good to know. Feel happier about getting one now. Keep up the excellent work... really enjoy your vids! 👍😁
thanks for the vid, almost bought the old one!
Mega👍😜
Hi mate, the previous daypack had the option of putting a locking pin into the release mechanism to stop it being removed off the bike. Does the new PRO version have this?
Great question but I couldn't tell you for sure, but I don't think it has.
@@thelikeablerider8800 couldnt see anything in the specs for the bag. I think the older version didnt really advertise it either
Are they planning to sell an electric version as the previous generation ?
Unfortunately not! I've been told by SWMOTECH that there are no plans to produce the electric version.
I love the GIVI lock system better, but the bag from SW is much better. What to do? :)
Fizz the Givi on Ebay😂
Hey mate, any way of getting a strap to the daypack so it can be slung over a shoulder?
Not that o know of Nate, would be great to have one as the the Previous Evo range had them, if I'm not mistaken!
Hello Nate. Yes, a shoulder strap is listed on the SW Motech website.
Great video and defo interested in their range. They did a fantastic and tidy “powered” ring which you could power phones etc. from as the power feed went straight into the tank ring; have SW Motech stopped those now?🤔
Yeah they haven't continued the powered rings into the Pro Range, seems they do well.
I have asked them same question and response was that they decided to stop making electric tank ring as most bikes have now power socket around cockpit.
Great video! Really looking forward to the video on the full line-up. I'd love to get either this one or the PRO city. Subscribed!
Hey
Thanks for the sub! All the others should arrive today so hopefully get something filmed for end of next week.
Thanks for the video! Do you know if it can it fit a 14" screen laptop (24cm x 35cm)?
Thanks for your question! I wouldn't like to speculate, maybe check out the dimensions on the SWMOTECH website👍
Did SW Motech update the design to all of their bags?
Just the new Pro Tank bags at the moment, but you can be sure that this new design will flow down to all their other soft luggage.
Do you think sw motech 12/17 pro sport tank bag would be ok on 2023 Triumph Street Triple rs
I never leave anything of value in it tbh, unless on tour but then I never let it out of sight, or just use a small padlock
TheLikeableRider me neither - just worry that some toe-rag might nick the bag itself... !
Thanks :)
No they're definitely red👍
@@thelikeablerider8800 Thank you :)
@@thelikeablerider8800 hast Du nen Aff-Link?
Leider nicht
Hello all,
Does anyone knows the total height of the bag when is full expanded? and this PRO Trial tank bag
(18-20)?
Thank you.
Mine got stuck, the red string came out, what to do 😢
Yeah that's a tricky one! I had a similar problem as I attached the tankbag to the bike without even connecting the string🤦♂️I was able to reconnect the string while it was still on the bike, it's a bit of a fiddle but it's doable.
Hey, which phone mount is that?
It's from ultimateaddons
Where's the discount code?! 😁
Trying me best to get you guys one👍😜
Wish they had an electric version
The new ones look like an improvement in design and function. Don’t think I can justify upgrading from the older ones though at the moment. Just watched the Brew time video you did so funny. A question for you , am thinking of purchasing the orange brake and clutch covers, do you find they reflect a lot in sunny weather and distract the eye. Top videos 👍
Glad you liked the podcast!
No with the levers I don't have an issue
Sorry Shaun I mean the brake/clutch reservoir covers
Lol no they don't either😜
Thank you 👍
will it fit a husqvarna svratpilen 200?
I couldn't say, you'll need to look on their website!
Hi, not sure if this bag would fit on a Honda monkey z125?
Contacted sw motech and they can't provide answer!
I couldn't tell you if it would as I don't have the bike to see for myself. I'd imagine the Pro Micro would fit fine.
@@thelikeablerider8800 thanks.
Pro micro listed for the bike.
Looking like a huge improvement. Like it (also your beard :-))
Thanks 👍😂
Can it fit a raincoat ??
Possibly if you could roll it down small enough, wouldn't leave much room for anything else of course!
Aite man thanks!!
I just bought my old model 2 weeks ago😫
Oh bugger! 😂🤦♂️
Nice one Shaun, looks good too 👍😊
Very clear explanation. Thanks.
Just ordered one. Nice.
Mint m8👍😜
I will get one for my Versys 1000se LT & Z900rs 😍
Great stuff👍😜
Looks like a cracking product. Is it water proof or does in need a cover ? Shame they didn't give you a promo code for us all to use . 😁👍
It comes with a fully waterproof rain cover, but I've never had an issue with water getting in without it, bike depending of course! My screen protects the bag while riddig in the rain, only becomes an issue when I stop, but the bag itself has a good level of water resistance.
@@thelikeablerider8800 thanks for the reply .
You're more than welcome! No thanks needed👍😜
Lovely bit of kit I would have one if I was not sutch a tight-ass😂 great vid definitely makes me want one though.

Best to check on their website, I couldn't say🤷♂️
