    Two great talents and they obviously had a real life bond - beautiful. And no ego with either or them - Rock and Doris.

    Trying not to cry watching this... They were supposed to stay friends for more decades and grow old together. :'( I love knowing that the chemistry we saw in their movies wasn't just "make believe". Their friendship looked so simple and pure. Thank you so much for posting!

    Doris had many nicknames. Eunice, Clara. LOL - She was a amazing lady. I hadn't heard of the Eunice one until now.

    I wish they had made another film together during this time. They both still looked great too.

      Me too. Doris was quite skittish about coming back. Finding the right story was always the problem, then location became the secondary issue because she had so many animals she was devoted to. Her son Terry could have convinced her to do another movie had there been a story worth doing. Unfortunately, Terry, her son, developed physical and probably emotional complications from alcoholism. When he passed away it was understandably difficult for her.

    How weird life can be had he not been gay and she not have made such bad choices in men they would have made a great couple such a shame.but that's life.then again maybe that's why it worked so well because it surpassed any romantic relationship .

      I agree with you totally they would have made a great couple they were at ease with each other.
      That is life unfortunately but Rock and Doris had a deep love beyond their friendship and you feel the love between the two.
      God Bless their souls and May they Rest in Peace 🙏

      @@lydiagreen2161 wow david hartman is a boring, awful interviewer. This was the days of secrets and not being able to be honest about certain questions and answers

      @@lydiagreen2161 Goes to show you that love can go beyond sexual attraction. it’s obvious that they had the life of an old married couple even if they weren’t intimate with each other. That’s the part that is remarkable about love!

    • @Mouse01011
      @Mouse01011 2 роки тому +4

      it’s so funny watching these old clips that I haven’t seen in forever to revisit them again in the light of contemporary awareness and acceptance of homosexuality, that it’s so obvious seeing them both kiss that if they weren’t married, it’s obvious that they were not just good friends but that he was gay. There’s no way a straight man would kiss a woman on the lips like that and just be friends. Plus it’s always been the case that most women have always felt at ease around gay men, especially because they have always been the most compassionate around the subject.

    The day Rock died Doris was not at the house and I wonder if it's because she just couldn't emotionally handle it or if it was because of the AIDS situation. people were afraid that it was contagious at the time.

    • @kathykelley16
      @kathykelley16 3 місяці тому +1

      I don't think she was afraid at all. She kissed him when he went to Carmel just two months before he died, and I think she probably sensed what was wrong but didn't say it. And yes, maybe it was too emotionally upsetting for her to go down to Beverly Hills to see him, or maybe no one would take her, or she just didn't realize how fast he would go. I've wondered if maybe she did go, but it wasn't publicized. I'm sure that whether or not she got to see him at the end, his death was devastating for her.
      And actually, she did write to him and talk to him on the phone several times during those last 2 months. She has said, such as in the Gary Collins interview, that Rock's death shattered her.
