First time actually knowing what ACKS is about. Crazy that a lot of things he thought of are things i'm making for my own game. Trully, if you don't make it, someone else will.
God it just sounds like he did all the hard work for me! The spell making and class making are especially of interest to me so i can make something which fits my needs for my particular setting. Cant wait to throw my money at this man.
This ACKS world tour has pointed me to so many you tube people that love that I love - good design for consistent world simulation and immersion. Great interview!
Very interesting I have been familiar with acks since it was published but never new the setting details. The questions and Alexanders answers up until 18:00 where I have watched are excellent. Some questions of my own: What do the Lawful people believe will happen to you if you die and did not lead a good life? Also what is the Neutral belief about the after life.
I believe neutral people technically believe in the lawful pantheon, they simply don't take up arms for it in their own volition. Not sure about the afterlife, it would probably be good to check the ACKS discord
The Lawful people who aren't particularly heroic (this includes being dastardly) simply reincarnate and try again. The Neutrals are partially Lawfuls who aren't invested, Animists, as well as the sort of people (which Alex makes mention briefly) which are similar to Buddhists or Hindus with the idea that it's all just an illusion. It's kind of a grab bag.
Actually two of the three options are great, but one of them needs to be tweaked. You don’t shriek “into the void” you shriek directly at your friends and family
Its weird to see this kind of discussion where many details are exhaustively laid out and cemented but big picture questions are still ambiguous. For example with the cosmology, as the author Macris has the final say on what the actual fact of the matter is. I don't think I've seen him say what the ontological fact is, only that in-world there are disputed beliefs. Surely it wouldn't detract from the game for him to say the fact is the god did X because Y, and you can still RP as someone in the world who doesn't know that. I don't see why he seems to become a liberal pluralist/relativist when it comes to these questions.
I don't think he is. When you are drawing on divine power and gathering power from bringing congregants into the temple of the god, that seems like an objective fact of reality. Same in the other direction of the chaotic gods and necromancy.
I apologize if my comment was confusing. I didn't mean about atheism vs theism, I meant about the nature of God. If you contrast it to LOTR you get in the background notes a very clear indication of Eru's nature with no real wiggle room. There's no implicit catering to the Sauron/Morgoth-ists by injecting ambiguity about who is supreme and which view is factually correct. @@blacklodgegames
@@roon-sy8fz ah gotcha, I still don't think this implies relativism on his part. I like some mystery in the world and it's clear he favors law and views chaos as evil.

Yeah it's extremely attractive to have had the heavy lifting done for me.

Thank you!
I always lived by the maxin "Conquest is its own reward'

King
This sounds awesome
Been playing since the beginning of the year. It's really good. Have a video on it late this month.
Laughing at the quantum superposition class.
Personally, i would name it Schrodinger's Barbarian
Also: I've now added 'anti-content' to my personal lexicon. Thanks, Nick!
Any chance for late pledges?
There will be a backer kit so possibly but I do not know for sure. Good place to check is on the ACKS discord I think

This also why we need him to write a full auran empire campaign setting supplement
ACKS covers were always crap. I wish he'd gone Greg Gillespie's way and created OSR variants a la monochrome 1e.
