Areas of my life that fail to meet perfection: my workout routine, my diet, my water intake, the 2 dishes sitting in my sink, and this comment I'm typing right now. 😅 Get my newsletter 👉 newsletter.drewalexander.co
Perfectionism can also be really helpful. It drives us to achieve incredible feats. The part that makes it unhelpful is unrealistic or undefined expectations. One thing I've tried doing is seeing some work I have to do for school and telling myself "what is a grade range that I would be proud of?" Regardless of what grade I get, if I got within my range, I can celebrate it. I still set myself high standards, but they are realistic standards. On a deeper note, I tend to celebrate effort over outcomes. We can influence outcomes, but like you pointed out, we cannot fully control them. As long as you tried what you can with the resources and knowledge you are given now, there's no reason to be upset at yourself when things don't work out.
I like your sense of humour! Recently discovered your channel - thank you for sharing your thoughts and your work. I also struggle with perfection - and try to remember that „DONE is better than PERFECT“. Thank you Drew 🙏 🇩🇪 Frank
Thank you for this video. It helped me reflect on my calendar and commitments and I realised that I need to cancel some stuff to plan for a break and relax to avoid steering towards a burnout. My perfectionist mind had me working and studying non-stop for a long time. Need to slow down a bit

Done is absolutely better than perfect! Thanks for the kind words :)
Crazy how perfectionism can strike even when trying to leave a comment 😅. Great vid!
Oh man you totally called me out on that one 😅 any time I comment on something I overthink it sooooo much lol

You've earned the break :) Some rest and recuperation will do your soul well.
Great video!

Thank you! 😊
I need to let go more. Great video! I use a bit of fun tack on one corner of wall art cause I hate crooked stuff, lol
Crooked wall art definitely drives me crazy lol. It's one part of perfectionism that I am a-ok with 😂
