I love Shirley!!! This may be the best live performance in my 60 plus yrs listening to music In a league of her own, definitely takes control of the stage. Impressed me as being very nice being interviewed. What a gem 💎. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Dame Shirley Bassey was at the top of the business for 70+ years, and just recently retired. Frank Sinatra said many decades ago, "Take Shirley Bassey who has the greatest pipes in the world". Shirley was also Barbra Streisand's mother's (Diana Streisand Kind) favorite singer. There are a ton of great singers in the world, but Bassey's big belter ballads send tingles down your spine.
This song "This is My Life" performed by Shirley is a declaration song of relevance in this life from society and people that try to demean you from being yourself and keep you from fulfilling your purpose. People identify with the message and the delivery of the message.
My professor at the Royal Conservatory used to make us listen to Shirley Bassey. He gave informal lectures about what about her voice and technique are GREAT! She's so grand, campy and strong. What a VOICE. Lacks some nuance but who cares? Her power and thunderous exclamations are unmatched. Bassey's tough and tragic life make her a true legend. The Girl From Tiger Bay. She had been singing this song for 40 years when this was filmed. Her message is one of empowerment - but her voice can make you cry from the sheer wonder of it. She still looks great at 87. Practically a honorary member of the British Royal Family. She can sing over the grandest orchestra. No wind gonna knock that woman over.
I have seen this lady sing this song live many times over the years, and believe me you know you have seen one of the greatest female entertainers ever. A class act in every way. Check out her singing The Greatest Performance Of My Life or Born To Lose.
Shirley is one of the few truly iconic singers. She and this song have been a part of the gay community for years. I saw her once at the Davies Symphony Hall when I lived in San Francisco in the '90s and she was terrific!
Who would have thought that a coliured girl drom Cardif who was a single mum at 16 yrs old.back in the 50's would become the winderful courageous Dame Shirley Bassey. A force of nature.. We alaways will bow to you.
What a voice, what a power, what a performer, what an artist. My father lover her and, I was used to hear her in my childhood. Nowadays, nobody talk too much about her. How is it possible. So many great artists back than. That's the big importance of your channel and others, keeping great artists alive and present in the lives of the poor ones that live in a time witthout great music, great singers and great performers. Thank you very much. Big kiss. Ana
First time i ever heard Dame Shirley was back in the late 90's when the movie "There's Something About Mary" came out and there was a song called "History Repeating" which was a collab with Propellerheads and part of the soundtrack, their electronic sound with her powerful vocals is such an interesting and cool mix, i think you'd enjoy reacting to that music video. She's such a powerhouse even well into her 80's, absolute legend.
There was a comic legend duo called (eric) Morecambe and (ernie)wise that had a tv show in the 70's.they had many songers, actors on their shows. That would do skits with them or get the micky taken out of them. Shirley sang smoke gets in your eyes on one of their shows and lived up to the saying the show must go on when morecombe and wise messed with her while she was singing. She showed her sense of humour.
Dame Shirley Bassey was born in Cardiff Wales. My mothers fav singer and when she toured Australia mum took me to see her perform....I've never ever forgotten that show. So so many wonderful "I Who Have Nothing, My Way so many songs to check out Saeed. She also sung a few of the Bond Movie songs too. Gold Finger, Diamonds Are Forever... I can't recall the other...lol
Find clips of her performance at Glastonbury from several years ago. Such a classic entertainer. Her cover of P!nk's Get The Party Started is a hoot. I believe she's still performing at 87.
I KNEW you'd appreciate this very unique and powerful artist/performer. And has a little bird just told me it is/was your birthday?? Well happy birthday fellow Sag 😉. And in case you didn't know... just picked up this little tidbit... "Sagittarians are the wandering storytellers of the zodiac, often using music as a way to share their experiences and perspectives. Their open-mindedness allows them to experiment with different genres, creating something truly unique and eclectic." I'd say that fits you to a T! Looking forward to Dame Shirley Part 2. Thanks, Saeed.🤗
@SaeedReacts. I missed seeing this yesterday because of our holiday. But yesterday was also my oldest and dearest friend's birthday as well... her's is a week before mine, so we celebrate both on mine. Yes, indeed, uncannily accurate!
thats a performance, thats hw u do it, she so gd.........she new pain in her life, n i wondr if one can hear her roar n defience at times. yeah captavating is gd description hard 2 take ones eyes of her n ones ears.

Saeed: Here is another one of my favorite Shirley Bassey numbers, and it would be great if you would react to it. This song shows off Shirley and all her vocal glory! I have recently remastered it, and it's called, 'Make The World A Little Younger". ua-cam.com/video/VqIz20ZUMlw/v-deo.html
Hi Saeed, This is your Lebanese fan from Boston.... I truly enjoy your insightful and sometimes comical insights into music and how you see some of the nuance that I have missed over the years due to my familiarity with the performers and songs. Can I suggest you listen to something to see Shirley Bassey's other side? The link appears below. It's one of the best videos on UA-cam. Best wishes! Jay ua-cam.com/video/UpZvXp5RydI/v-deo.html

Voice Presence Dignity and a wonderful Cockiness that just captivates the audience
Shirley Bassey has no subltey whatsoever and that's why we love her!
she did actually....she always knew where the " over the top " was and stopped short. Total control of her voice too.

Of course this concert is going WAY back, but even at 87 yrs. young, Brassy Sassy Bassey's voice has remained remarkably unchanged.
I love how you are so receptive to, and pick up on, whatever an artist is putting out there.
Total commitment from this inimitable talent...Spectacular❤
A true legend. It is a privilege to be part of this Saeed community. My ultimate relaxation. Appreciate you. Greetings from South Africa
Take a listen to The Rhythm Devine, Shirley did with the Swiss group Yellow it's one of her best performances. ❤

I believe she is still going strong, and still looks amazing. I think she performed at one of our Queen Elizabeth's celebrations (but I may be wrong!)

I think I'm right in saying that Shirley designs most of her costumes. She knows how to put on a show!
This was always one of my favorites of her!!!
Dame Shirley Bassey and Judy Garland and Nancy Wilson are my all-time favorite female artists
Such a timely posting! Today is Thanksgiving Day in the United States (my favorite holiday of the year). Time to count our blessings.
