I'm 77 and just learning. I love the way you teach so I am choosing you as my teacher. Even after the first lesson I feel more empowered. Admittedly my fingers don't work as fast as I wish they did. But I'll get the hang of it. Thanks so much for these wonderful lessons and for all your videos. They are all so helpful and I appreciate them so much.
my first lesson! Thank you!! I'm back after doing the play along with the Mavericks. I am floating with joy I had so much fun. I'll work on the C and F (and play with the Mavericks some more) before moving on the next lesson. I'm 68 years old and this just lit me up with happiness. Thank you.
You cover the topics in detail that a lot of people just gloss over. I bet you're a wonderful teacher ☺️💜 And love that you add time stamps in the description. Really easy to revisit the videos for a particular topic. New Subscriber!😁
Thank you so much for putting these lessons online! I've only just started teaching myself the ukulele by attempting to play Boulevard of broken dreams (Em, G, D, A, C, B7 chords). But I've realised that that was maybe not the best starting point. I can do all these chord shapes now and I can transition between them but just not fast enough to actually play along to the song... And in the process I've got a sore wrist on my chord hand as well. So I've decided to take a few days off to let my wrist calm down and then I'm going to try again following your lessons so that I can actually learn my first songs on the uke :) I think part of the reason I got a sore wrist though was because I have very small hands for an adult (palm is roughly 9 cm long by 7 cm wide, index finger is 6.5 cm, pinky is 5 cm). I was wondering if you know of any tips for players with small hands and would consider making a video about that? Again many thanks for sharing these lessons with us and best wishes from Switzerland
I have been watching your videos on UA-cam fro about a year, due to slow internet there are many interruptions for data loading. I get frustrated. Is it possible to buy a copy of the Ukulele Lessons 1 to 5 as download videos, it would make learning much easier. I will gladly pay your stated price by VISA or bank e-transfer. Thank you.
Hi Norm, I can't fo any thing at the moment but I may get a Patreon account in the future where I might be able to make them downloadable. Sorry you are having data loading issues.
Thank you, you explain everything so well! I really appreciate this video. I am having some problems with the F chord. No matter how I adjust, both of my fingers are muting the strings underneath them. I literally can’t find a way to hold my fingers so they don’t do that. I’m using a concert ukulele and I’m a beginner adult, with quite small hands. Do you have any suggestions please? Thank you!
So happy I found you! Just starting on the plastic uke of my 3yo boy. You saved me from buying the Lava U (actually how I found you), I’m going for a Flight instead. I’m a flutist and saxophonist but at 42 I’m discovering strings. Who would have thought :) Thanks for your clear lessons! Belgian greetings
Thanks for your lovely comment and so glad you are enjoying the uke. never too old and definitely a bit different to the flute and sax. Warm wishes to Belgium, used to love visit there when I collected smurfs!
Too bad 3 years ago I did not persist with the learning of the ukulele.. Still a very good ukulele the one I did get, a soprano kmise.. unbelievable value for money then as it was 25 quid on amazon that year.. How it has gone up in price since then. I do have to admit even though I have heard this a couple of times, about not strumming over the soundhole on a uke I keep doing this mistake constantly as I am so used to guitar, I love guitar its a wonderful beautiful instrument but I think what makes it so confusing is that usually instruments are quite a lot different in appearance but ukulelels and guitars look too much alike XD apart from some models but still. I suppose why fight a design that is proven good? I shall try to strum on the fretboard instead at the end instead but this I rarely do .. I love the subtle and slow pace you take and its great to learn my new favourite instrument from other perspectives as well.
As always a big Thank You for your lovely comments. Also Thank You for your lovely email, apologies for not replying yet, it's been a manice few weeks. Will get there though!
Hi there, I am so glad i found you!!, Im 54 and just started to learn the Ukulele i wanted and got last Christmas, I have Agoraphobia as well as Depression, but, i woke up one day, found out that there was a Ukulele group that strummed each week, and it was only on the side of my road. I messaged the teacher, explained my issues, and have since booked 1 to 1 lessons and i stay and play along with what i can with the group. Since then, 4weeks ago i now have 3 Ukeleles :). oxox
Hi Mich, I enjoyed reading your comment for many reasons but most importantly because the ukulele is helping you. I believe it really is a healing instrument and a big well done to you for joining the group. Well done on the 3 ukuleles too, UAS (ukulele acquisition syndrome) is also a great focus. Any questions, please feel free to ask.
@@UkuleleWales since watching your Bass Ukulele upload, I am very interested in one, I am trying to see if anyone local has one they might let me try, lol so UAS sounds very much like me !!!! Keep safe oxox
I've been strumming with my thumb. but when I try using my index finger like you show, I have this clacking sound. I'm sure its from my nail hitting the strings. does that go away after trying this for a time?
Rita McLaughlin Yes, it does take a bit of getting used to it and the sound will improve. You’ll actually prefer the sound once you get it sorted, honestly, keep going, took me a while to swap. 👍
Morning Rachel from down under ,you are the best teacher you make fun and easy to learn the cords , after lesson 5 do you have anymore lesson on utube, continuing on with cord learning if not would it be possible to buy some more from you thanks

Hi there Joseph from Melbourne Australia I agree with you Rachel is an amazing teacher ,what is the other utube site you follow please ?
Can not do a F cord without touching C string. finger too fat.
Try and keep on the very tips of your fingers if at all possible, it does help.
