My guess is a studio exec pushed for a 'happy ending' despite all evidence showing it was going to end with everyone dying. So they kind of ham-fisted the ending into place, even though it breaks the movie's own internal logic.

Am I the only one who thinks nothing about the childrens behavior seems "reflective". They killed someone in his sleep. And those who didn't even notice them being there. How is that "reflective". "Give what they take" my ass. Sometimes they got nothing and gave death. Sometimes they got hope and trust and still gave death. Most of the time, they got shock/fear and also only gave death and violence. This not reflective.
If they'd be reflective they would ignore everyone who didn't notice them. They would be fearfull/shocked (and no, fearfull is not the same as hateful. If I meet a bear in the forest I'm gonna have fear not hate.)
By the way, what's with the decade of care, love and hope many of them got.

Those are some crazy seizures. I have PNES (psychoactive non-epileptic seizures, stress causes them rather than epilepsy). I have seen myself seize when my housemate records them and I don't see them like that lol. Boy I'm worn out for days afterwards. Like I did a week of workouts in 20 minutes.
If I feel stress I must immediately rid myself of the stressor or bam, I'm down, lose my ability to speak, feel a terror like a banshee is about to grab me, pure terror, then complete loss of memory past that point. After I regain my mind once done seizing I have to spend an hour trying to "relearn" how to speak and stand again.
