    There are a couple of people out there charging between $80 to $100 for this sophisticated luminosity zone masking technology. Thank you for providing this amazing capability free for your fans.👏👍🙏🌟🎉 Kind of crazy, but we appreciate it very much.

    I use your macros every day. This is why I will get a GPU when the beta version goes live. Thankyou for the time you have spent in developing them and your indexed website. Just amazing generosity.

    These macros are so pertinent to overcome AP short comings. These features should have been built into the GUI, so thank you Dave.

    Yes, Dave, I'm on a Mac. Haven't had a problem with your other programs like your ND filter downloads, but this one, unfortunately won't work.

    The MATH always wins ...just waiting for Affinity to get you to developer level! btw, I was thinking that old school approach streamlined w/0 keystroke errors...like a 60's muscle car...

    Great macros, thanks! I can get good results with one or other of the (your) luminosity macros via Procedural Texture when I use them to select a macro shot of e.g. a spider in high-key close up. What I'd like to do though, is take the background to pure white, as it's high-key, and select the detail, sometimes fuzzy of the spider and leave that unchanged...if you see what I mean?! I can't find e.g. greater than or less than (>, 220, then set R,G,B to 255, i.e. pure white. What do you think please?

      To do less/greater than in PT, subtract and round up (assuming both numbers 0..1). This will give you 0 or 1, which you then use to multiply the action calculation to execute it or not.

    Your selection macros are remarkable.
    Can you please tell us what difference in usage there is between your luminosity selection macros and your zones selection macros ?
    Can we use your zones selection macros for the same purpose as your luminosity selection macros ?

    • @inaffinityforaffinityphoto3220
      @inaffinityforaffinityphoto3220  Рік тому

      The luminosity selection macros detect luminosity with HSL algorithm. I'm not sure about zones (done ages ago), but I think the effect will be very similar.

    HI Dave,
    I get the Custom Inputs with the choices below (Middle, Width, Feathering, etc. I do have the slider to the right which does move and allow me to scroll down the other choices. The problem is that the Middle, Width and Feathering choices are just boxes which you can rename or delete but don’t have any sliders so no adjustment can be made to the selected area on the screen.

    Thank you for this Dave. I am new to Lum Masks. Once the selection made, can I save it and adjust it with a brush, similarly to a mask? I tried unsuccessfully to save it as a spare channel.

    • @inaffinityforaffinityphoto3220
      @inaffinityforaffinityphoto3220  3 роки тому +1

      This takes a copy of what you have and masks out what is not needed. So you can apply any extra adjustment to the top layer to apply to the selection made, and even change the selection after. You can separately apply an adjustment to the layer(s) beneath to adjust non-selected areas.

    Thank you so much Dave, these are so helpful!
    QUESTION: Is it less processor intensive to use blend ranges instead of procedural texture? I find my computer slowing down a little using these (Alienware 17 R4, GTX 1080, 32GB RAM). Possibly an Affinity performance issue?

    • @inaffinityforaffinityphoto3220
      @inaffinityforaffinityphoto3220  4 роки тому

      Procedural Texture is much better than Apply Image, but also not as efficient as Blend Ranges, which will be written in source code as opposed to the very limited macro language in PT.

    What a shame for all using macs. We can’t access the sliders so this macro becomes useless. Would love to be able to use these macros; Dave, thanks for all of your efforts!

      @@inaffinityforaffinityphoto3220 Hi Dave, There seems to be a bug in the Procedural Texture panel on Macs. I'm using 1.9.1 and clicking on e.g., 0,1 adds another custom input box but there are no sliders, just the box with the 'X' (delete) option. Unfortunately, on the Mac, none of your macros that use Procedural Texture will currently work. I'm going to contact Serif about this.

    Trying to load "Dave's Luminosity Selection V2.afmacros" but Affinity is looking for (*.afmacro) so cant find the file downloaded with the "s" on the end. I must be doing somthing wrong.

      .macro files are loaded under the Macro tab. .macros files contain more than one macro and should be loaded under the Library tab. The download is "Dave's Luminosity Selection V2.afmacros" and so should be loaded under the View/Studio/Library tab (via the 'hamburger' in the top right corner).
